Abstract

Mahasiswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan soal-soal pada materi kalkulus integral. Mahasiswa terlihat belum dapat mengaitkan kemampuan representasi matematis dengan kemampuan koneksi matematis pada materi tersebut. Kemandirian belajar erat kaitannya dengan pencapaian kemampuan representasi dan koneksi matematis. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh hasil beberapa penelitian yang menyimpulkan bahwa kemandirian memiliki pengaruh terhadap pencapaian kemampuan representasi dan koneksi matematis mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat signifikansi antara kemandirian belajar mahasiswa dengan kemampuan representasi dan koneksi matematis pada mata kuliah kalkulus integral. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Metode Kuantitatif. Desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berbentuk “Posttest Only Group Design” yang melibatkan 22 mahasiswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakaukan dengan melakukan pengambilan data berdasar tes kemampuan koneksi dan representasi matematis, serta angket kemandirian belajar. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji asosisasi kontingensi. Hasilnya tidak terdapat asosiasi yang signifikan antara kemampuan representasi dan koneksi matematis, terdapat asosiasi yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan representasi matematis mahasiswa, dan terdapat asosiasi yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan koneksi matematis mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between learning motivation and mathematical communication skills in vocational high school students. The background of this study is the importance of mathematical communication in mathematics learning, as well as the low learning motivation of vocational high school students that impacts these abilities. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The population in this study were grade X students at SMK Negeri 1 Cipanas, with a sample of 26 students from grade X MPLB 3 selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included a learning motivation questionnaire and a mathematical communication ability essay test. The results showed that there was no positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and mathematical communication skills in vocational high school students. Based on these results, it can be interpreted that high learning motivation does not necessarily align with high mathematical communication skills. This means that even though students have a high learning drive, it does not automatically make them able to communicate mathematical ideas well. This finding implies that increasing learning motivation alone is not enough to improve students' mathematical communication skills. Mathematics learning needs to be designed not only to motivate students but also to specifically train mathematical communication skills such as explaining ideas, using symbols appropriately, and interpreting real-world situations into mathematical models.

Abstract

This study investigates how pre-service mathematics teachers (PSMTs) learn conic sections through the task structures in high school mathematics textbooks by applying the Praxeological-Didactical Analysis (PDA) framework. The analysis focuses on identifying the types of tasks (T), techniques (?), technologies (?), and theories (?) in the textbooks used in the Kapita Selekta Matematika Sekolah Lanjutan course. PDA trace the didactical transposition process from scholarly mathematical knowledge to the taught knowledge represented in textbook materials. Using a qualitative document analysis approach, the findings indicate that textbook tasks emphasize procedural and algebraic techniques, with technological and theoretical explanations. The findings reveal that most tasks in the textbooks are dominated by procedural approaches emphasizing algebraic techniques, while the technological and theoretical justifications are often implicit. The study suggests the need for reconstructing praxeology-based task designs that integrate conceptual reasoning and theoretical grounding to strengthen PSMTs’ understanding and didactical competence in teaching conic sections.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning independence and self-efficacy on students’ mathematical understanding ability based on Kinach’s theory. This study employs a quantitative approach with data analysis techniques consisting of simple linear regression and multiple linear regression. The study population includes all 10th-grade students at state Islamic senior high schools (MA Negeri) in Cianjur Regency, with a sample of 34 students from class XA selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used consist of a mathematical understanding ability test based on Kinach’s theoretical indicators in the topic of Arithmetic Sequences and Series, as well as questionnaires on learning independence and self-efficacy. The data were analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression tests, preceded by prerequisite tests including normality, linearity, heteroscedasticity, and multicollinearity. The results show that learning independence has a positive and significant influence on students’ mathematical understanding ability based on Kinach’s theory, with a contribution of 36.3%. Likewise, self-efficacy has a positive and significant influence, contributing 69.4%. Furthermore, learning independence and self-efficacy simultaneously have a significant influence on students’ mathematical understanding ability based on Kinach’s theory, with a combined contribution of 69.7%. These findings indicate that the higher the students’ levels of learning independence and self-efficacy, the better their mathematical understanding ability as conceptualized in Kinach’s theory.
