Abstract

Abstract This study aims to know whether RME approach is effective in increasing the learning creativity at the eighth grade students of Barus Adventist Private Junior High School students. The research used an experimental method bu applying one group pretest posttest design. The sample of this study is 35 students which were taken by using the total sampling technique. The data collection techniques used observation and tests. The data collected are analyzed in two stages, namely descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The research results, it is known that the description of using RME approach is on average 3.00 (good category). Furthermore, the description of student learning creativity before learning RME obtained an average value of 66.21 (enough category) and after learning RME obtained an average of 76.82 (good category). Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it can be known that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.005. It means that RME approach is effective in increasing the learning creativity of the students of the Barus Adventist Private Junior High School with classical completeness data known to be 65.71% (effective category) and N-Gain obtained 0.46 (medium category).

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to develop teaching materials for flat shapes using a realistic mathematics education approach to teach students' mathematical problem solving skills and to determine the quality of teaching materials in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a development research with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study were 28 grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang Sidempuan. The research instrument used to measure the quality of teaching materials was in the form of expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires and post-test results of students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The expert validation questionnaire was used to measure the validity of the teaching materials while the student response questionnaire was used to measure the practicality of the teaching materials and the post-test results of students' mathematical solving abilities were used to measure the effectiveness of the class VIII students' teaching materials at SMP Negeri 7 Padang Sidempuan. The results of this study indicate that the quality of teaching materials is seen from the validation assessment of material experts with an average score of 75.5%, for the assessment of media experts with an average score of 78.33%, and for the assessment of linguists with an average score amounted to 90.67% with each score included in the eligible criteria. The overall results of the expert's assessment show that the teaching materials developed have "good" (decent) criteria based on the assessment by 6 experts with a percentage score of 81.5% in the "very valid" criteria. And the results of the questionnaire responses of students to teaching materials seen from the aspect of practicality with a percentage score of 92.78% in the "very practical" criteria and the post-test results of students' mathematical solving abilities seen from the aspect of effectiveness with an average score of 74.46 in the category " effective. So it can be concluded that the overall results of the study indicate that the teaching materials of flat shapes with a realistic mathematical approach to teach students' mathematical problem solving skills are valid, practical, effective and suitable to be used as learning tools. Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kualitas kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diberi pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) pada materi segi empat pokok bahasan persegi dan persegi panjang. Jenis penelitian adalah studi kasus deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII(6) SMP Negeri 15 Medan yang berjumlah 40 orang, kemudian diangkat subjek yang dianalisis secara kualitatif ditinjau dari aspek indikator kemampuan (tinggi, sedang dan rendah), aspek kesalahan dan aspek jawaban kosong. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari: Tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan lembar panduan wawancara. Teknik analisis data meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa 22,5% kategori tinggi, 37,5% kategori sedang dan 40% kategori rendah. Selanjutnya melalui analisis kualitatif diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: 1) Siswa berkemampuan tinggi yaitu mampu dalam berkomunikasi secara matematis dengan baik; 2) Siswa berkemampuan sedang kurang mampu dalam bekomunikasi secara matematis; 3) Siswa berkemampuan rendah tidak mampu berkomunikasi secara matematis; 4) Kesalahan siswa terjadi dalam memahami permasalahan, menggunakan konsep-konsep dan langkah-langkah yang dibutuhkan untuk penyelesaian masalah; 5) Pada jawaban kosong siswa tidak mampu memahami langkah-langkah penyelesaian masalah, siswa kurang mampu dalam menggunakan dan menerapkan operasi hitung, siswa tidak mampu memahami konsep-konsep dalam penyelesaian masalah. Kata kunci: analisis kualitatif; komunikasi matematika; matematika realistik This article aims to describe the quality of mathematical communication skills of students who are given learning with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on rectangular material, square and rectangular subject matter. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive case study. The subjects of this study were students of class VII(6) of SMP Negeri 15 Medan totaling 40 people, then the subject was analyzed qualitatively from the aspect of capability indicators (high, medium and low), Error aspects and empty answer aspects. The research instrument consisted of mathematical communication skills test and interview guide sheet. Data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students' mathematical communication skills were 22.5% in the high category, 37.5% in the medium category and 40% in the low category. Furthermore, through qualitative analysis, it was concluded that: 1) Students with high abilities are able to communicate mathematically well; 2) Students with average abilities are less capable in communicating mathematically; 3) Low-ability students are not able to communicate mathematically; 4) Student errors occur in understanding problems, using concepts and steps needed to solve problems; 5) In the empty answer students are not able to understand the problem solving steps, students are less able to use and apply the counting operation, students are not able to understand the concepts in solving problems. Abstract

Abstract This development research aims to 1) Knowing the validity of developing website-based two-variable linear equation system teaching materials, 2) Knowing the practicality of using web-based two-variable linear equation system development teaching materials in learning activities, and 3) Knowing the effectiveness of developing linear equation system teaching materials two website-based variables to teach students' mathematical problem solving skills. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research with the ADDIE development model, where this research consists of 5 stages, namely, 1) Analysis Phase, 2) Design Phase, 3) Development Phase, 4) Implementation Phase and 5) Evaluation Phase. The instruments used include 1) a questionnaire sheet in the form of a validation questionnaire by an expert to see the validity of the product and student response questionnaires to see the practicality of the product, as well as 2) a test sheet to test the effectiveness of the developed product being tested on 24 students in class X MIA 1 SMA N 1 Angkola East. Based on the results of this study, the product validity was obtained with an average percentage of 92.61% in the "Very Valid" category, product practicality with an average percentage of 85,52% in the "Very Practical" category, and product effectiveness with an average percentage of 76 ,62% with the category "Effective".It can be concluded that the development of website-based two-variable linear equation system teaching materials to teach students' mathematical problem solving skills is valid, practical and effective. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe the ability to learn mathematics before being given support and appreciation in class X SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan. Knowing the support and appreciation of students for learning mathematics in class X SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan. The research method used is an experimental method using a one group pretest design, namely one type of treatment. The population of this class is all students of class X TO 1 SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan which consists of one class that collects 23 students. The sample of this research is class X TO 1 as many as 23 students. Data collection techniques used are observation and tests. The data collected were analyzed in two stages, namely descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the research, it is known that the provision of support in class X TO 1 of SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan from the results of observations made in the very good category with an average value of 4.10. The description of the provision of support in class X TO 1 of SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan from the observations made is known to be in the good category with an average score of 4.00. Then the description of student learning after using the provision of support and appreciation with an average score of 86.09 with a very good category. results Based on the hypothesis test conducted, the value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 known probability value of 0.005 with the keyword Sig (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.005. Based on the value consultation, the alternative hypothesis is accepted or approved for truth. “Providing effective support and appreciation to improve mathematics learning at SMK Negeri 1 Sinunukan. Then the percentage of classical completeness data is 73.91% with the effective category. Then the N-Gain value is obtained as 1.56, which is a very high classification. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VII-2 SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan sebelum dan sesudah penerapan pendekatan Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR). Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kombinasi dengan menggunakan concurrent embedded design. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, tes, dan observasi. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan dua tahap yaitu analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Hasil observasi menunjukkan gambaran pendekatan PMR memiliki rata – rata 87.5 (kategori tinggi). Kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa sebelum menerapkan pendekatan PMR memiliki rata–rata 26.4 (kategori rendah) di mana siswa rata – rata menguasai dua indicator yaitu (1) mengajukan dugaan, (2) melakukan manipulasi matematika dan sesudah menerapkan pendekatan PMR memiliki rata–rata 56.2 (kategori sedang) di mana rata – rata siswa menguasai 2-3 indikator yaitu (1) mengajukan dugaan, (2) melakukan manipulasi matematika, dan (3) menyusun bukti, member alasan/bukti terhadap kebenaran solusi. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan perhitungan N-Gain menunjukkan nilai sebesar 0.48 (kategori sedang). Artinya pendekatan pembelajaran matematika realistik (PMR) dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VII-2 SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar materi himpunan menggunakan pendekatan pendidikan matematika realistik untuk membelajarkan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa dan untuk mengetahui kualitas bahan ajar dilihat dari aspek kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 24 siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Lingga Bayu. Instrumen penelitian yang berupa angket validasi ahli, angket respon siswa dan tes kemampuan koneksi matematika. Angket validasi ahli digunakan untuk mengukur kevalidan bahan ajar sedangkan angket respon siswa digunakan untuk mengukur kepraktisan bahan ajar dan Tes Kemampuan Koneksi Matematika untuk mengukur keefektifan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kualitas bahan ajar dilihat dari penilaian validasi ahli materi dengan skor rata-rata sebesar 81%, skor termasuk kedalam kriteria layak. Hasil keseluruhan penilaian para ahli menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan memiliki kriteria “baik” (layak) berdasarkan penilaian oleh 2 Ahli dengan persentase skor sebesar 81% dalam kriteria “sangat valid”. Hasil angket respon siswa terhadap bahan ajar dilihat dari aspek kepraktisan dengan persentase skor sebesar 89% dalam kriteria “sangat praktis”. Hasil Tes Kemampuan Koneksi Matematika Siswa dilihat dari aspek keefektifan dengan skor rata-rata 81,9% masuk kategori “sangat efektif”. Dan hasil Lembar Aktivitas Siswa dilihat dari aspek keefektifan dengan skor rata-rata 89% masuk kategori “sangat efektif”. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara keseluruhan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar materi himpunan berbasis pendidikan matematika realistik untuk membelajarkan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa dinyatakan valid, praktis, efektif dan layak digunakan sebagai perangkat pembelajaran.

Abstract

The low creative thinking ability of elementary school students is the main research problem. This is because the learning that is carried out tends to be conventional and the lack of textbooks that support students to be active and creative in learning. A learning that supports student activity in learning is a contextual learning approach. By using textbooks that are relevant to students' situations, it is hoped that students' creative thinking skills will develop well through the learning process. The purpose of this study was to describe the validity of developing textbooks with a contextual approach in teaching elementary school students' creative thinking skills. The research method is to apply the ADDIE model which in this stage will specifically describe the development stage. The development of textbooks was carried out by giving assessments from 4 validators to textbooks in terms of format, language and content of textbooks. Analysis of the results of the assessment of the 4 validators showed that the average percentage score of textbooks on the format aspect was 77.00 (high), the language aspect was 85.83 (high) and the content aspect was 81.11 (high). Furthermore, the overall average is 81.31 (high). From the achievement of the average percentage score obtained, it was concluded that textbooks with a contextual approach in teaching students' creative thinking abilities fulfill aspects of validity and can be implemented in Civics learning for elementary school students.

Abstract

Improving creativity in writing descriptive essays among students is one of the challenges in learning Indonesian, especially when the teaching materials are not directly connected to the students' cultural background. Therefore, this study aims to develop and analyze the validity of contextual textbooks based on local wisdom in order to improve students' writing creativity. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Plomp development model which includes the Preliminary research stage, Prototyping stage, Assessment phase. The validity of the textbook is analyzed through the aspects of content feasibility, presentation feasibility, language feasibility, approach feasibility. The research instrument is a validation sheet of the textbook product. There are 4 validators involved in the validation process. The results of the study indicate that the textbook developed has a high level of validity in the four dimensions, which include content feasibility of 84.47%, presentation feasibility of 88.33%, language feasibility of 88.00%, and approach feasibility of 87.68%. And overall, the average percentage value was 86.25%. Based on the validation results, it was concluded that the developed textbook product was in good criteria. The implications of this study indicate that the development of local wisdom-based textbooks is not only culturally relevant, but also feasible in encouraging students' creativity in writing descriptive essays. The obtained textbooks can be tested in the field so that the effectiveness and practicality of the developed textbook products are found.

Abstract

Students' low critical thinking skills are the main problem in this research. Apart from that, in learning it was found that the textbooks used were less varied and did not direct students to develop their thinking abilities. The learning model that can maximize thinking abilities is Brain Based Learning (BBL) and the learning approach that has clear stages and can be included in textbooks is the scientific approach. The aim of this research is to develop a textbook using the BBL model assisted by a scientific approach in teaching students' critical thinking skills. The development model used is the ADDIE Model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. Research instruments include validation sheets, questionnaires and tests. Research data includes product validation data obtained from expert validation, product response data obtained from student response questionnaire results, and students' critical thinking abilities obtained from tests. The data obtained was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The data analysis carried out showed the results of achieving a Validity Mean Percentage Score (PRS) of 84.74 (valid criteria), the practicality of achieving PRS of 80.59 (practical criteria), and achieving PRS effectiveness of 89.31 (effective criteria). The data analysis carried out shows that the product developed meets the criteria of being valid, practical and effective and is suitable for use as a textbook. Based on these achievements, the development of textbook products with a brain-based learning model is feasible and good for use in teaching students' mathematical critical thinking skills.
