Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral values in the conflict squid game movie, namely the values of survival strategies, self-sacrifice, cooperation, egoism, and values contained in conflict. In conflict, there are morals that we can reflect on ourselves in everyday life, and these moral values are often found in experiences, events and even stories. The research method used is a qualitative method by selecting dialogues that contain moral elements in the conflict. And the descriptions are written using dynamic structuralism by Levi Strauss, Wallek and Warren to express the idea of moral values in conflict in the selected dialogues. The results of this study show that the moral characters that can be described in the Squid game movie by Hwang Dong Hyuk consistently show how to survive, be willing to sacrifice and make conflict a good moral value in everyday life.Keywords : Moral, Survival,Self-sacrifice

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat makna-makna yang tersembunyi dari cuitan Ernest Prakasa menggunakan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis dengan teori milik Teun A. Van Dijk. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pustaka, simak dan catat. Teknik ini digunakan agar memperoleh data secara rinci dan menyeluruh.Dari penelitian yang menggunakan 20 data di dapatkan hasil analisis teks cuitan akun Twitter Ernest Prakasa yang berlatarkan isu-isu politik, diperoleh 20 tematik, 2 skematik, 12 semantik, 1 sintaksis, 7 stilistik, dan 8 retoris yang ditentukan oleh struktur makro, superstruktur, dan struktur mikro. Hasil pemerolehan kognisi sosial cuitan akun Twitter Ernest Prakasa yang berlatarkan isu-isu politik didapatkan 1 kesadaran, 1 pengetahuan, 1 kepercayaan, dan 1 praanggapan. Hasil pemerolehan konteks cuitan akun Twitter Ernest Prakasa yang berlatarkan isu-isu politik dalam penelitian ini diperoleh 2 hasil yaitu pertama kekuasaan yang dipengaruhi oleh sumber nilai dan persuasif dan yang kedua akese yang didapat dari kaum elit.Kata Kunci:  Wacana Kritis, Teks, Kognisi Sosial, Konteks

Abstract

This research deals with the problem of Analysis the meaning and message in A Thousand Years song lyrics by Christina Perri. Lyrics are used as primary data and use qualitative methods to explain the meaning and messages obtained using structuralism theory to find out the overall meaning in song lyrics. The researchers decided to use this method because it does not do the field research that requires real time problems and subjects. The research is mainly focus on books, journals, internet, blogs and etcThen the data and references from media such as books, journals, websites, was collected by means of a library search. And researcher get results from the meaning and message in the lyrics of the song, there are loyalty in relationships. love bravely and wait faithfully.

Abstract

Dalihan Na Tolu is a philosophy of life for the community which is the basis for the rules of the Batak community in society. Dalihan Na Tolu’s consists of three main parts, namely somba marhula-hula, elek marboru, and manat mardongan tubu. This thesis aims to analyze thesemiotics signs contained in the Batak Toba wedding ceremony, namely martuppol which is included in Dalihan Na Tolu, as well as the meaning of the sign through the symbolic relationship between the signifier and the signified. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data sources in the form of interviews with people related to the martuppol event and the data used in this study are text and images. The theory used to analyze the data is the theory proposed by Odgen and Richard about the semiotic triangle. The findings of this study consist of signs found in the martuppol event, there are 4 important signs found in the event. The findings of this study are expected to be a useful resource in other research and for the development of semiotic studies of commercial works.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral values that can be found in the Sad Girls Novel by Lang Leav which are the values of friendship, social behavior, responsibility, and maturity. Moral values are related to human behavior, in terms of what is considered good and bad. The values of friendship are mutual understanding between individuals, understanding everything that is liked, hated, needed. While social behavior leads to the formation of a good personality. Responsibility instead is a moral which describes a person's ability to show quality personal in their work, and maturity is an important form of moral intelligence which is the mental capacity to determine how universal human principles are. The research method used is qualitative method by choosing the dialogues that contain moral values, and the description is written using the concept of literary representation with a dynamic structuralism to propose the idea of moral values in the chosen dialogue. The result of this research shows moral characters portrayed in the novel by Audrey consistently indicated how she was being a good friend, involving in various social situations, being a responsible and mature individual with the people around her, and the main characters’ behaviors are giving the readers dialogue and actions that showed their interests and personality which brought the 4 mentioned moral values.

Abstract

This research examines the archetypes in The Vikings Valhalla Season 2 movie. This research aims to identify the kinds of archetypes and how archetypes related to Freydis as the main character and some supporting characters such as Queen Emma, Harald, Leif Erickson, Earl Godwin, Aelfwynn, Hrefna, Jomsvikings, and Olaf. The archetypal literary approach assumes that all humans have responses to a set of symbols, images, characters, and patterns, literary work reflects Karl Gustaf Jung. This research uses qualitative research. The data were collected by analyzing the phrases and utterances containing archetypes. Marie D. Jone's (2017) theory proposed the data analysis technique in this research. These archetypes are representations of behaviors and images that reflect the unconscious, in this research such as to survey the values of literary work in the Vikings Valhalla Season 2 movie. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji arketipe dalam film Vikings Valhalla Season 2. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis arketipe dan bagaimana arketipe berhubungan dengan Freydis sebagai tokoh utama dan beberapa tokoh pendukung seperti Ratu Emma, Harald, Leif Erickson, Earl Godwin, Aelfwynn, Hrefna, Jomsvikings, dan Olaf. Pendekatan sastra pola dasar mengasumsikan bahwa semua manusia memiliki respons terhadap seperangkat simbol, gambar, karakter, dan pola, karya sastra mencerminkan Karl Gustaf Jung. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan menganalisis frasa dan ucapan yang mengandung arketipe. Teori Marie D. Jones (2017) mengajukan teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini. Arketipe tersebut merupakan representasi dari perilaku dan gambaran yang mencerminkan ketidaksadaran, dalam penelitian ini seperti mensurvei nilai-nilai karya sastra dalam film Vikings Valhalla Season 2.

Abstract

This study aims to describe gender injustice in Photocopier movie by Wregas Bhanuteja using feminist literary criticism theory and Fakih’s theory of gender to explain the patriarchal culture that causes gender injustice in this movie. This research was conducted through the qualitative research method. The data source in this research is Photocopier movie by Wregas Bhanuteja on Netflix. The steps for data collection with qualitative techniques, library techniques, reading techniques, and note-taking techniques. The form of data in this research is the form of sentences, dialogues, and discourses contained in Photocopier movie by Wregas Bhanuteja, chosen according to the main problem in this study, namely Gender Injustice in Photocopier movie by Wregas Bhanuteja. The results obtained 5 forms of gender injustice by Fakih’s theory namely: marginalization, subordination, stereotype, violence, and double burden which are influenced by the patriarchal culture where men dominate and are powerful toward women

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the archetypal pattern and Greek mythology elements found in A Myth of Devotion (Glück, 2006). The analysis began with the kind of Greek mythology elements that exist in the poem. The following section analyzed the archetypes found in the poem, which examined based on the six phases that Frye has distinguished on Archetypal Criticism; Theory of Mythos that consists of four seasonal cycles of nature. This research used qualitative methodology. The sources were taken from various journals, books, and other library resources. The result of this research concluded as follows: 1) the Greek mythology elements appeared in A Myth of Devotion is the myth of Persephone’s abduction by Hades; and 2) The Mythos of summer; six phases of romance is successfully applied on the archetypes analysis that occurred on the myth of Persephone and Hades in both poems.

Abstract

This paper describes the megalomania in the novel The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkin’s novel is shown by Tom to the women around him. The object of research in this thesis involves Tom's character, social life and moral values shown in the novel The Girl on The Train. This research uses qualitative descriptive research. The data obtained comes from the novel The Girl on The Train. This research focuses on Tom's character, how he treats the women around him, especially his ex-wife, where he has betrayed but he makes things as if he is the victim.

Abstract

Social commentary is one aspect related to society in seeing a phenomenon that occurs. The researcher see a phenomenon that occurs in a community environment and is represented by poem. Where poem used figurative language to beautify writing. The object in this research is a poem by William Shakespeare entitled A Fairy Song. This research aims to explain the figurative language contained in A Fairy Song and also to analyze the social comments are found in A Fairy Song. This research used the structuralism theory proposed by Strauss, Wellek and Warren. The sociological literary criticism proposed by Marx and Lukacs. The methodology that used in this research is qualitative method approach with the phenomenological approach by Husserl. There are five figurative language contained in A Fairy Song poem such as alliteration, hyperbole, simile, metaphor and personification. The figurative language here is also used as a social commentary which generates criticism of this poem. Social comments are found because of the words that use figurative language to interpret a meaning. The researcher found the social comments from the used of figurative language such as injustice, discrimination and exploitation.
