Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pemahaman keluarga muda Katolik mengenai tujuan perkawinan berdasarkan Kitab Hukum Kanonik (KHK) 1055 dan bagaimana mereka mengimplemeentasikan ajaran Gereja dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan fenomenologi, yang berfokus pada pengalaman dan persepsi pasangan muda Katolik yang baru menikah atau memiliki anak kecil. Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa meskipun keluarga muda Katolik umumnya memahami dua tujuan utama perkawinan, kesejahteraan suami istri dan kelahiran serta pendidikan anak-anak tantangan signifikan muncul dan penerapannya, terutama terkait dengan kesibukan kerja, tekanan ekonomi, dan perbedaan harapan antara pasangan. Gereja, melalui program pendidikan agama dan bimbingan pastoral, memainkan peran penting dalam mendukung pasangan muda untuk memahami dan mengimplementasikan ajaran Gereja dalam kehidupan mereka. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah pentingnya peran gereja dalam menyediakan dukungan berkelanjutan untuk pasangan muda, baik dalam bentuk pendidikan agama, konseling keluarga, maupun program paca-nikah yang sesuai dengan tentangan kehidupan modern.

Abstract

This study provides an overview of some of the challenges faced in Catholic marriages. Some challenges related to marriage are issues that need serious attention from the church as one of the observers of marriage. How is the role of the church in living the spirit of love and solidarity in family life. The purpose of this study is to determine the complex problems that occur due to changes in the order of life from the influence of socio-cultural changes and to determine the response and role of the church in overcoming these life problems. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. The research data are in the form of interviews with several married couples as Catholic families. The findings in this study indicate that there are several problems that arise in married couples due to social and cultural changes, namely, economic problems, communication, technological advances, and long-distance relationships.

Abstract

This study analyses the impact of the Second Vatican Council on the Catholic Church in Ketapang Diocese. The purpose of the study is to explain the mission movement, the history of changes in ecclesiastical structures, and the ecumenical principles introduced by the Second Vatican Council. The research method used is a literature study with a historical and narrative approach. The findings show that the Second Vatican Council has had a significant impact on the Catholic Church in Ketapang Diocese. The Church's mission movement is growing, reflected in the changing view of the relationship between the Church and the world, as well as between religions. Theological principles such as the teaching of love and respect for others have become central values in the Christian tradition. The Second Vatican Council also strengthened the role of the laity in the Church, underlining the responsibility of every member of the Church in mission. In addition, the Second Vatican Council opened the horizons of the Catholic Church of Ketapang Diocese in the context of mission to the whole world. The conclusion of this research confirms that the Second Vatican Council is not only a historical event of the Church, but also a source of inspiration that is relevant in facing today's challenges. The Catholic Church of Ketapang Diocese continues to strive to carry out the mission of Christ with a spirit inspired by the principles of the Second Vatican Council, maintaining theological integrity, and fidelity to Church teachings.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to delve into and re-understand the apostolic exhortation of Pope John Paul II regarding the document Familiaris Consortio, specifically articles 51-54. This document specifically discusses the role of Christian families in the dynamics of contemporary times. This theme is very intriguing to study because it is relevant to the current family situation. The aim of this research is to make the Familiaris Consortio document a guide to enhance the understanding and awareness of families in carrying out their vocation. As a "small" Church, the family carries out the main task of Christianity, which is to proclaim the Gospel integrated into the sacrament of marriage. This is quite relevant to address all the issues and challenges facing Christian families today, such as divorce, domestic violence, the influence of technology on relationship patterns, and access to quality education due to lack of facilities and economic limitations. The methodology used in this research is qualitative research with a literature study approach. This paper finds that the Christian family is a Church Fellowship responsible for proclaiming the Gospel, educating in faith, and being a tangible sign of God's love integrated into the sacrament of marriage. By living out its unique vocation, the Christian family can bring God's presence and create goodness together.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the 1983 Code of Canon Law and the Second Vatican Council from a pastoral theological perspective. The 1983 Code of Canon Law represents a significant reform in the Catholic Church’s legal structure, shifting from a juridical to a pastoral approach, largely influenced by the theological renewal of the Second Vatican Council. This research aims to analyze the continuity and transformation of canonical norms, particularly in their application within the Church's pastoral life. Using a qualitative method with a textual analysis approach, this study reviews official Church documents, including the 1983 Code of Canon Law and the decrees of the Second Vatican Council, applying hermeneutical and theological reflections. The findings reveal that the 1983 Code of Canon Law integrates key elements of Vatican II’s ecclesiology, emphasizing the communal nature of the Church and the active participation of the laity. Furthermore, the study highlights the pastoral dimension of canonical law, particularly in its flexibility and responsiveness to contemporary pastoral needs. The study concludes that the reforms brought by the 1983 Code of Canon Law reflect a deeper alignment with Vatican II’s vision, reinforcing the Church’s mission in a more inclusive and adaptive manner. These insights provide theological and pastoral implications for Church leaders and scholars in applying canonical norms effectively within pastoral contexts.

Abstract

Perkawinan inses marak terjadi di berbagai tempat, baik secara legal dalam budaya tertentu maupun karena berbagai faktor yang melatarbelakangi perkawinan itu terjadi. Kajian ini memberikan gambaran mengenai perkawinan inses dalam hukum katolik dan dampaknya bagi anak. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dari berbagai literatur yang dianalisis sesuai dengan judul. Hasil kajian sebagai berikut: pertama, konsep yuridis pernikahan dalam Gereja Katolik terdiri dari tiga hukum, yaitu hukum ilahi atau kodrati, hukum kanonik, dan hukum sipil. Kedua, makna perkawinan Katolik tak terceraikan. Perkawinan Katolik bersifat monogami, sakral, dan abadi serta tidak dapat diceraikan. Ketiga, jenis-jenis perkawinan menurut hukum Gereja Katolik, yaitu validum, invalidum, nulum, dan legitium, perkawinan ratum, ratum et consummatum, Perkawinan Putatif. Keempat, Gereja Katolik tidak membenarkan perkawinan inses karena perkawinan tersebut berdasarkan eksistensinya merupakan perkawinan tidak sah. Kelima, Perkawinan inses membawa dampak negatif bagi anak, baik dampak fisik, sosiologis, maupun psikologis. Gereja Katolik mengambil langkah pastoral untuk mencegah perkawinan inses melalui katekese keluarga dan kunjungan keluarga

Abstract

Young people often idolize models or idols regarding their lifestyle and charm. It would be wonderful if that fascination was directed towards Jesus Christ, the Savior. Admiration for these individuals is often driven by their exceptional values, traits, character, abilities or appearance, which embody the aspirations and aspirations of the admirer. This admiration can also lead to a longing for a relationship with the idolized figure, either directly or indirectly. The research methodology used is a qualitative method. The data used in this research was collected from news sources, books, and journals. The findings in this study conclude that what is formulated as the main problem is answered that catechesis on "Jesus as a true friend and idol figure" can affect the depth of faith and real action in the lives of students. This finding is also a very meaningful input for Catholic Religious Education teachers who become catechesis facilitators in schools to be more proactive and skillful in delivering teaching materials.

Abstract

This study explores how social media affects the spiritual formation of Generation Z students in a major seminary. Generation Z has grown up entirely in an internet-saturated world where social media is central to daily life. For Catholic institutions seeking to nurture students’ spiritual growth, it is vital to understand how these platforms shape - and sometimes hinder - this process, as well as how students themselves perceive their influence. Data were collected through an online survey emailed to undergraduates, with 119 students completing the questionnaire, and through follow-up interviews with eleven participants. Quantitative data were analysed using linear regression to examine the relationship between social media use and spiritual well-being. The survey and interviews investigated students’ participation in spiritual practices - such as the Eucharist, personal prayer, and other devotions. Results show that social media has markedly reshaped the process of spiritual formation. Many students reported that frequent engagement with social media reduced their ability to be fully present in key spiritual disciplines, particularly during the Eucharist, in times of silent reflection, and in personal prayer.

Abstract

Perkawinan merupakan salah satu aspek fundamental dalam kehidupan manusia yang tidak hanya menyangkut dimensi sosial, melainkan juga memiliki makna religius yang mendalam. Gereja Katolik memandang perkawinan sebagai Sakramen. Dalam konteks situasi di Kabupaten Barito Timur yang plural, penghayatan terhadap nilai sakramentalitas perkawinan Katolik menjadi tantangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna perkawinan Katolik sebagai sakramen dalam perspektif hukum Gereja serta penerapannya di tengah pluralisme agama dan budaya di Kabupaten Barito Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan kepustakaan yang berfokus pada analisis isi terhadap sumber-sumber primer seperti Kitab Hukum Kanonik 1983 dan dokumen magisterium Gereja, serta sumber sekunder berupa jurnal teologi, hukum, dan pastoral. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif-kualitatif melalui pendekatan konseptual dan normatif untuk menelaah hubungan antara teologi sakramen dan hukum kanonik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkawinan Katolik memiliki dua dimensi utama, yaitu teologis dan yuridis, yang bersatu dalam kesakralan perjanjian suami-istri. Dalam konteks pluralisme Barito Timur, Gereja menghadapi tantangan penerapan norma kanonik terhadap praktik adat dan perkawinan campur, sehingga diperlukan pendekatan pastoral yang dialogis dan inkulturatif. Kesimpulannya, hukum Gereja berfungsi bukan sekadar mengatur, melainkan membimbing umat agar menghayati sakramen perkawinan sebagai tanda kasih Allah di tengah masyarakat yang majemuk.
