Abstract

The research aims to determine the position strategy and the priority strategy of layer chicken farming development strategy.  The research is a case study of layer chicken farming in Gadingrejo Subdistrict of Pringsewu District which has been chosen purposively.  Data were collected in Desember 2016.  Respondents were three farmers consist of large scale, medium scale, and small scale farmers.  The analytical tool SWOT analysis was used in this study.  The results showed that large scale, medium scale, and small scale of layer chicken farming businesses were in quadrant I with the position of aggressive growth strategy.  The development priority strategy of large scale is to increase relationships with suppliers so that the development of chicken livestock centers can be achieved.  The development priority strategy of medium scale is to improve customers so that farmers are able to compete. The development priority strategy of small scale is to maintain a strategic location for easy reaching and meet the demand of eggs by costumers.Key words: development strategy, layer chickens, SWOT analysis

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the performance of business management towards the community and towards the benefits for the members, analyze internal and external environments, and develop some development strategies for KPT Maju Sejahtera. This research uses a case study method in KPT Maju Sejahtera, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. There were 12 respondents involved, consisting of 3 cooperative organizers, a cooperative supervisor, 5 cooperative members, an expert, and 2 regulators. Data analysis methods used are qualitative descriptive analysis, SWOT, and QSPM. Results showed the performance of cooperative business management is included in qualified category. The performance of cooperative towards the community and benefits for the members is included in quite-qualified category. Internally, the main strength was cooperative form partnerships with other legal entities. The main weakness was the low participation of members in using the services of cooperative business units. Externally, the main opportunity was there were no similar competitors in cattle breeding, and the main threat was the low interest of breeders to join as cooperative members. The priority strategies that can be used in developing KPT Maju Sejahtera are: (a) increase the production volume and quality of cooperative products using processing equipment and machines, (b) create processed beef products to increase added value and business unit activities, and (c) intensify communication with members to increase their participation.Key words: agriculture cooperative, development strategy, performance analysis

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the efficiency of black pepper marketing system in West Lampung Regency of Lampung Province.  The research was conducted purposively at Fajar Bulan and Mutar Alam Village of Way Tenong Subdistrict, Sukajadi and Rigis Jaya Village of Air Hitam Subdistrict in October-December 2017.  Farmer respondents and marketing agent respondents were taken by tracing marketing networks.  Data analysis included analysis of marketing system efficiency was conducted by employing SCP method.  The results showed that the marketing system of black pepper in West Lampung Regency weren’t efficient based on: the market structure was an imperfect competition, the market conduct showed pepper price determination by pepper buyers, but there was still negotiation system.  There were two payment systems that were cash and credit system.  The analysis of market performance showed that there were three marketing channelsin which marketing margin were relatively high, Ratio Profit Margin not spread evenly, and the elasticity of price transmission (Et) was less than one, although producer share (PS) value was high (above 80 percent). Key words : black pepper, efficiency, marketing system, SCP method

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze: the level of household consumers’ satisfaction, the level of household consumers’ loyalty, and factors that influence the satisfaction and loyalty on consuming corn vermicelli in Bandar Lampung.  The research was conducted in the randomly choosen 3 traditional markets and 3 modern markets in May to July 2013.  Accidental sampling method was employed to choose the sample of 60 consumers as respondents.  Methods of analysis used were Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) for the degree of satisfaction, the pyramid of loyalty was used for the degree of consumers’ loyalty, and the logistic regression analysis for the factors that influence satisfaction and loyalty of household consumer.  The results showed that CSI value was 76.97 percent, it meant that the costumers were satisfied by corn vermicelli product. Most costumers tended to be loyal, because the number of commited buyers (with the value of 95 percent) was higher than that of switcher buyers (with the value of 3 percent).  Based on the logistic regression analysis, variables that significantly influenced costumers’ satisfaction were the length of consumption and purchase frequency.  Variables that significantly influenced on the costumers’ loyalty were age, education level, and purchase frequency.Key words: corn vermicelli, CSI, loyalty, pyramid of loyalty, satisfaction

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to analyze: consumer attitudes, the stages of the purchase decision making, and the factors that affected the purchase decisions of chicken meat in Bandar Lampung City.  This research was conducted at three traditional markets in Bandar Lampung City, namely Tugu Market, SMEP Market, and Gintung Market. This  research was  a survey method, in which locations were determined on purpose, while the samples of 90 people were obtained by using accidental sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative analysis, multiatribute Fishbein analysis and logit regression analysis.  The results showed that consumer attitudes toward the attributes of chicken meat were that they preferred ‘ras’ chicken meat than kampong chicken meat; particularly in terms of the meat price and weight.  Consumer’s decision making stages of chicken meat showed that they bought chicken because of their awareness on the need of protein and 60 percent of them preferred to buy ‘ras’ chicken meat than kampong chicken meat.  Most consumers (61.11%) got information about chicken meat from merchants. There were 78 percent of consumers that were satisfied with their purchased of chicken meat and 12 percent were dissatisfied for getting improper weight and receiving unfresh meat. Factors that affected the purchase decisions of chicken meat in Bandar Lampung City were the price of ‘ras’ chicken meat protein, of kampong chicken meat, of salted fish, and family income.Key words: attitude, attribute, decision making

Abstract

This research aims to analyze: whether the oyster mushroom farm in Lampung Province profitable or not, and the efficiency of oyster mushroom marketing system in a conventional manner and the network inLampung Province. The research was conducted in Lampung Province especially in Bandar Lampung and Metro City. The research location was chosen on purpose. The farmer respondents were chosen by censusand the imtermediatory marketing institution was taken by following the marketing’s flow. The data was collected in January-August 2013. The research results showed that oyster mushroom farming in LampungProvince was profitable for oyster mushroom farmers in which R/C ratio of the cash costs was 1.95 and R/C ratio of the total cost was 1.29. The efficiency of oyster mushroom marketing were as follows: (a) market structure formed in conventional manner was oligopsony, while the network marketing was oligopoly; (b) market behavior: oyster mushroom farmers, both conventional and network marketing sold their crops and be paid in cash. (c) Marketing oyster mushroom by forming a group of network marketing upline and downline network had relatively much benefit than the conventional one.Keywords: conventional marketing, network marketing, oyster mushroom

Abstract

The aim of this research is to compare the income and sustainability of organic and inorganic rice farming.  The study was conducted in Pringsewu District purposively by considering the area as one of the organic rice producers in Lampung Province. This study uses a survey method. Respondents in this research were 35 organic rice farmers and 35 inorganic rice farmers. The data analysis used is farm income analysis and sustainability index. Data analysis were carried out descriptively and differentially using the Independent SampleT-Test Parametric Test and the Mann-Whitney Nonparametric Sample Test.  The results showed that the income of organic and inorganic rice farming was profitable but there was no significant difference in income. Organic rice farming is a sustainable criterion, while inorganic rice farming includes criteria that are quite sustainable, and there was significant difference in sustainability between the two.Key word: farming, income, inorganic, organic, sustainability

Abstract

The aims of this research were to know the productivity of labors of palm fruit reaper and its influencing factors in PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Unit Rejosari Palm Plantation.  This research was conducted at PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Unit Rejosari Palm Plantation, Natar Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency. The data was collected from April – May 2015 by survey method. The total respondents for this research were 54 people which were chosen by systematic random sampling method.  Analysis method used in this research was quantitative descriptive and multiple linear regression analysis. The result of this research showed that the productivity of labors of palm fruit reaper at PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Unit Rejosari Palm Plantation in 2015 was 732.68 kg per day or about 106.71 percent from the target, this was included as insufficient category. The influencing factors on the productivity of labors of palm fruit reaper at PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Unit Rejosari Palm Plantation were salary and incentive, nutrition and health, education and training; whereas, motivation, age and years of service did not signicantly affect it. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the causal factors on Farmers Low Interest to Implement theEnvironmentally Friendly Red Chili Farming In South Lampung Regency. This research employed a surveymethod by using constructed quisionairs. The research samples were 71 farmers, drawn from nonenvironmentallyfriendly red chilli farmers. The research was conducted in five districts of South LampungRegency, namely Natar, Way Sulan, Candipuro, Kalianda and Penengahan. The data was analyze byanalysis factors of SPSS program. The result showed that there were three factors causing farmers lowinterest to implement environmentally friendly red chilli farming. They were cultivation application and theofficer guidance, means and pest attact, in addition to cultivation result.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to determine the purchase decision process of the ornamental plants and the dominant factors on the consumer’s buying decision of ornamental plants. The research was conducted by a survey method in Sub-district of Pekalongan of East Lampung Regency. This location was chosen on purpose by considerate that there is agro tourism area namely BBI Horticulture, which is well known as the central area of the nursery and horticultural crops in Lampung.  There were 75 respondents of both men and women that met the inclusion samples criteria, such as having at least an experience in buying ornamental plants.  The results showed that the behavior of consumers in their purchase decision on ornamental plants through the introduction needs, information searching, alternative evaluation, purchase decision and post-purchase evaluation. There were three dominant component factors that influenced purchasing decisions of ornamental plant: the first principal component factor was named as appearance (trend and prestige), the second major components was named the exotics (color and uniqueness), and the third major components was named equivalency of price products (size and price) of ornamental plants.
