Abstract

Background: Community participation has been widely recognized as a key determinant of successful and sustainable dengue control efforts. Developing a community participation model that aligns with local needs is essential for achieving long-term effectiveness. However, limited information on the capacity and engagement of both community leaders and non-leaders in high-endemic areas has hindered optimal model development due to the lack of supporting evidence. Objective: This study aimed to assess the potential capacity of the community and to identify factors associated with dengue control efforts, as part of developing a sustainable dengue prevention model in a high-endemic setting in Semarang, Indonesia. Methods: A total of 107 households, consisting of both community leaders and non-leaders, were included in this study. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire through a household survey employing a quantitative approach. Results: The findings indicated that the highest levels of community capacity were observed in health service providers (81.9%), community participation (81.7%), and network awareness among regional leadership groups (80.7%). Key stakeholder contributions were most prominent in disseminating information or knowledge (81.1%), engaging in community activities (79.1%), and providing supporting facilities and infrastructure (75.7%). The development of an effective dengue control model must take into account perceived susceptibility to dengue, self-efficacy, social mobility, and paternal involvement. Conclusion: The development of community-based dengue control models must be aligned with existing community capacities. Policymakers should strengthen dengue control strategies by optimizing both well-established and currently underutilized community assets to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability. Abstract

An unhealthy lifestyle can increase people's risk of developing non-communicable diseases. Obesity, Hypertension, and Diabetes Mellitus are metabolic disorders suffered by people who at the end of this decade attack younger age groups. So, it is important to immediately get handling from the government. For this reason, the government needs to realize policies in the form of stipulating regulations in controlling the consumption of unhealthy products through effective methods. The purpose of the study is to review the effectiveness of regulations and warnings with food labeling in controlling consumption patterns. The systematic review approach of literature review with PRISMA searches for articles in three databases: PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Ten articles were selected through several stages of screening and underwent quality assessment. According to the findings of the study, the establishment of government/stakeholder regulations in related sectors and warnings with food labeling with increased food literacy can increase the effectiveness of controlling the consumption of unhealthy products sustainably. Food labeling needs to emphasize information related to healthy or unhealthy products to consume.

Abstract

Cut-off point asupan vitamin D berdasarkan ROC curve adalah 2,7 µg/hari. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) lead to shock and death. Patient in Yogyakarta mostly aged 1 - 12 years old with severe dengue. A low vitamin D intake is assumed to be the cause of severe dengue. This assumption needs to be proved by analyzing the effect of vitamin D intake and severity of DHF. Study design was a case control study. Research on children’s wards and medical record installation in hospital. Cases were children with DHF grade III and IV, the control of DHF grade I & II. Data vitamin D intake was obtained by FFQ. Outer variables: BMI, age, chronic diseases and intensity morning sun exposure. Analysis by t-test and logistic regression. The results showed 60 cases and 60 controls without matching. Cut-off point vitamin D intake based ROC curve was 2.7 µg/day. Patients with severe dengue average vitamin D intake of 1.10 times less than not severe dengue. The average vitamin D intake lower 1 µg/day with a BMI ³ 18.75 kg/m2, chronic disease, and less exposed to the morning sun effect on severe dengue (OR = 0.47, 95% CI: 0.32 to 0.71). Sufficient vitamin D intake is recommended to avoid the dengue severity. Chronic diseases and more weight should be a concern of medical personnel as early warning shock occurrence.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore and describe vital sign measurements in the 20 periods. Methods: This study used data from a database of integrated elderly healthcare at PHC Kedungmundu, focusing on 20 periods from January 2022 to August 2023, and employed a cross-sectional study design. In total, 715 participants were included in the 20 periods. Demographic and vital sign measurement data were merged with those of the respondents. The essential sign measurements were analyzed by age group (45-59, 60-74, and >75) for males and females, and by period using a box plot. Data was analyzed descriptively (proportion, mean, median) using Stata 13. Results: A total of 2,930 participants were included in the 20 periods. Most participants were female (88%) and were between 60 and 74 years old (52%). Healthcare professionals regularly record blood pressure every month, but not all participants provided data on BMI, waist circumference, blood sugar levels, uric acid levels, and cholesterol levels. SBP and DBP were higher in females, especially 60-74 years old (SBP= 141 mmHg, DBP=83 mmHg). BMI (26.04 kg/m2) and waist circumference (87.94 cm) were higher in females than males. Blood sugar (169 mg/dL), uric acid (7.3 mg/dL), and cholesterol (230 mg/dL) data are also higher in females than in males, especially among those aged 45-49 years old. Conclusion: Investigated the health status of the elderly over 20 months, gender and age-related differences in health metrics, and chronic disease risk factors. Tailored health interventions and regular monitoring are crucial for effectively managing and mitigating the risk factors that affect long-term health outcomes and quality of life.

Abstract

The aim of this service activity is to increase the self-resilience of pond farmers, due to very rapid environmental changes. Apart from that, this activity is also carried out as a form of implementation of the blue economy which is currently the focus of the government's attention. This is because fisheries cultivation is a business whose production activities are always faced with the threat of risk and uncertainty. The source of this uncertainty is usually a decrease in cultivation production results or price fluctuations. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out risk management to determine the appropriate risk map and strategy to handle production risks experienced by fisheries farmers. The partner for this activity is Pokdakan Berkah Nila Abadi, Dukuhseti District, Pati Regency. Dukuhseti District is an area for brackish water pond fish cultivation. Cultivating salted tilapia is the main commodity. Dukuhseti District is now the main supplier of salted tilapia fish in Central Java and on the island of Java. Seeing the production results and potential of brackish water pond fish cultivation, economically it has contributed to the local population to meet their financial needs. This activity method begins with identifying risks related to cultivation production results and price fluctuations. Furthermore, partners will be provided with training regarding preventive and risk mitigation strategies for managing saline tilapia ponds. It is hoped that regular mentoring and monitoring activities can increase partners' self-resilience abilities. So that partners become strong and superior in competing in the industry.
