Abstract

This study examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress management ability among Grade XI students at SMKN 4 Padang in the 2025/2026 academic year. Students in this phase often face increased academic demands, preparation for industrial work practice, and social pressures, which may lead to elevated stress levels if not managed effectively. Emotional intelligence is considered an essential factor that can influence how students cope with such pressures. The research employed a quantitative correlational design with a simple random sampling technique, involving 70 respondents from a total population of 237 students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire based on established theoretical indicators for both variables, and the validity and reliability of the instruments were confirmed through item analysis and Cronbach’s Alpha (0.813 for emotional intelligence and 0.854 for stress management ability). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation using SPSS 24. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and stress management ability (r = 0.608, p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 36%, indicating that emotional intelligence contributes substantially to students’ ability to manage stress, while the remaining 64% is influenced by other factors. These results suggest that higher emotional intelligence enables students to regulate emotions, maintain composure, and adopt adaptive coping strategies when facing academic and social challenges. Therefore, fostering emotional intelligence could be a key approach to enhancing students’ resilience and overall well-being in the school environment.

Abstract

Novita Yulia Nengsih, “The Relationship between Social Support and the Adjustment of Broken Home Students at SMK Negeri 4 Padang, Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year”, Undergraduate Thesis, Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Putra Indonesia University "YPTK" Padang. His study aims to determine the relationship between social support and the adjustment of broken home students at SMK Negeri 4 Padang during the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with a simple random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 60 students from a total population of 207 students. The instruments used for data analysis were SPSS 24 and Microsoft Excel 2016. Based on the research findings, the calculated t-value was greater than the t-table value, namely 0.218 > 0.254 with a significance level of α = 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted, indicating a significant relationship between social support and the adjustment of broken home students in grade 11 at SMK Negeri 4 Padang. The coefficient of determination showed that social support contributed 4% to students' adjustment. This suggests that students who receive high levels of social support tend to be better at managing their personal adjustment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk hubungan antara Konsep diri siswa dan perilaku Penyesuaian diri siswa kelas XI SMKS 2 Kosgoro Payakumbuh. Dengan sampel berjumlah 48 orang yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Total Sampling. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian yaitu korelasional. Penelitian ini meneliti hubungan antara konsep diri siswa dengan penyesuaian diri siswa. Penelitian kuantitatif adalah penelitian ilmiah yang sistematis terhadap bagan-bagan dan fenomena serta hubungan-hubungan. Instrument yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah angket yang disusun menurut model skala likert. Analisis data yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan program statistik pada komputer SPSS 20 dan Microsoft Excel. Berdasarkan hasil hipotesis nilai rhitung yaitu sebesar 0,911 sedangkan nilai rtabel yaitu 0,172 karena nilai rhitung lebih besar dari nilai rtabel (0,769 > 0.273) maka terdapat hubungan antara konsep diri siswa dengan penyesuaian diri siswa

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and truancy behavior of grade XII students at SMAS Semen Padang in the 2025/2026 academic year. The background of this study is based on the increasing truancy behavior carried out by students, which has the potential to disrupt the learning process and academic achievement. Self-control is seen as one of the important factors that can influence students' tendencies to engage in truancy behavior. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample consisted of 95 students taken from four grade XII classes proportionally. The instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the level of self-control and truancy behavior. Data were analyzed using normality tests, linearity tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed with a significance value of 0.085 (> 0.05). The results of the linearity test showed that the relationship between the two variables was linear with a significance value of deviation from linearity of 0.638 (> 0.05). The results of the correlation test showed a significant negative relationship between self-control and student truancy behavior, with a correlation coefficient of -0.416 and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). This means that the higher a student's level of self-control, the lower their tendency to truancy. Based on these findings, it is concluded that self-control plays a significant role in suppressing student truancy behavior. Therefore, guidance and counseling teachers, subject teachers, and school officials need to pay attention to helping students improve self-control through psychological guidance and character development programs. This study can also serve as a reference for future researchers to develop studies related to truancy behavior by considering other relevant factors.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of social media use on student behavior at Semen Padang Vocational School. This research is a quantitative study using a correlation approach that shows the influence of variable X on variable Y. The number of respondents in the study was 93 people. The sample determination used a total sampling technique where researchers can use samples from the population. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires, observation, and documentation. While the data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and inferential data analysis techniques using simple linear regression analysis. The magnitude of the influence of social media on student behavior at SMK Semen Padang based on the results of the t-test calculation found that social media on student behavior at SMK Semen Padang, this can be proven by the results of a simple regression analysis, namely the results of f count 1.51>1.41 then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of social media on student behavior at SMK Semen Padang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kepercayaan diri dengan keterampilan bertanya siswa di SMA Negeri 6 Padang semester genap tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada permasalahan kurangnya rasa percaya diri siswa saat mengajukan pertanyaan di kelas, yang bermanifestasi sebagai perasaan malu, rasa tidak mampu, dan kurangnya keberanian dalam aktivitas bertanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas Fase E SMA Negeri 6 Padang yang berjumlah 360 siswa, dengan sampel sebanyak 190 siswa yang diambil menggunakan teknik proporsional random sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner dengan skala Likert yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis korelasi product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dan keterampilan bertanya siswa dengan nilai r-hitung sebesar 0,608 yang lebih besar dari r-tabel 0,2423 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kepercayaan diri siswa, semakin baik pula keterampilan bertanya mereka, dan sebaliknya. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoritis dalam pengembangan pengetahuan bidang bimbingan dan konseling, serta manfaat praktis bagi guru, guru BK, dan siswa dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran melalui peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan keterampilan bertanya.
