Abstract

This paper seeks to explore the possibility that empty nest syndrome can be resolved through pastoral counseling services while providing avenues for more in-depth research on this subject. Considering the empty nest syndrome is very rarely raised and used as an object of study by theological academics, especially in the field of pastoral counseling. With regard to the objective, the approach method used is qualitative with an exploratory approach. Through a review of a number of literatures, it is shown that pastoral counseling is able to parse empty nest syndrome because both conceptually and in practice counseling pastoral has an adequate classification.

Abstract

Abstrak: Madandum Banua is a culture carried out by the people of Dapihe Village, Talaud Islands Regency, which aims to expel riwu (seasonal diseases) or things that are considered odd by the local community through a ritual led by Ratumbanua or Inangguwanua on a large rock called Batu Tarenggo or Watum'barian. The existence of Christianity in Talaud Islands Regency as the majority religion is slowly starting to displace the existence of Madandum Banua. The labeling of syncretism towards the implementation of this culture certainly makes the congregation start to be reluctant and feel afraid in reflecting and implementing this culture. On the other hand, the government continues to encourage people who are also members of the congregation to preserve the culture of Madandum Banua by providing subsidies and establishing traditional groups. This situation shows that there is a struggle and clash of values between Christianity and the culture of Madandum Banua, which makes congregation members feel confused and in a dilemma. Through this paper, burapaya researchers seek common ground or balance (equilibrium) between the two values, namely by integrating theological meaning into the culture of Madandum Banua. The contextual theology approach of the translation model is used as an entry point in understanding the culture of Madandum Banua and interpreting theological values in that culture, so that the integration process can take place in a balanced way. In the end, it is hoped that writing will be an alternative for congregation members in responding to the circumstances experienced when practicing and preserving the madundum banua culture in accordance with government recommendations and avoiding the stigmatization of syncretism produced by the church.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines post-conflict Muslim-Christian relations in Indonesia, using communal trauma as the primary unit of analysis. The aim of this study was to show how trauma functions as a relational reality that forms patterns of segregation, latent prejudice, and possible interfaith encounters. This study employs a qualitative approach through narrative inquiry, analyzing the documentary film Beta Mau Jumpa as a narrative-theological text, supported by a literature review on interreligious conflict and trauma theology. The results show that post-conflict trauma does not stop as an individual experience but operates as a collective memory that shapes Muslim-Christian relations in an ongoing manner. The novelty of this research lies in the positioning of trauma as a locus theologicus in the study of interreligious relations. This article contributes to the development of contextual theology and religious education by offering a more sensitive theological framework to the experience of wounds and post-conflict reconciliation.

Abstract

This article investigates how traditional arts, particularly Maengket dance and the Pangucapan Syukur (Thanksgiving) tradition in Minahasa, serve as strategic vehicles for promoting religious moderation and contextual art education. Drawing on ethnomusicology, sociomusicology, and cultural sustainability theory, the analysis demonstrates that the musical architecture of Maengket possesses significant aesthetic, pedagogical, and spiritual dimensions. Findings indicate that these cultural practices are effective in cultivating organic spaces for interfaith dialogue, strengthening shared values, and enhancing social cohesion within a pluralistic community. Furthermore, the study highlights the critical need to adapt traditional arts into formal educational curricula and to utilize digital platforms for broader outreach to youth. Ultimately, by integrating artistic expression, local wisdom, and technology, this research offers a sustainable model for education and religious moderation that aligns with the evolving social landscape of Indonesia

Abstract

ABSTRACT The plastic waste crisis "haunts" the Talaud Islands Regency, including Tabang Village. Plastic waste not only affects the scenery but also diminishes the quality of fishermen's catches. The community's awareness of the inherent value of nature is believed to shape their attitudes towards the environment. Therefore, an appropriate perspective on creation is needed. This research aims to examine the impact of plastic waste in Tabang Village and identify the theological roots of these attitudes. The research employs a qualitative method designed to describe both natural and human-engineered phenomena, with an emphasis on the characteristics, quality, and relationships among existing activities. Considering the importance of nature in the lives of the Talaud community, the author proposes an understanding of ecotheology with a relational model on creation in an effort to develop an ecological theology in Tabang Village. This approach aims to foster a proper perspective and cultivate relevant attitudes towards God's creation among the community.
