Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out and describe the feasibility of coffee farming at the level of farmers who cultivate coffee beans and at the level of home industries in South Konawe Regency which produce packaged ground coffee or known as the brand name (Anoa Coffee). The parameters used to assess the financial feasibility of coffee farming are by calculating the value of R/C, NPV and NBCR at interest rates of 12% and 35% of farming and coffee powder processing businesses. Based on the R/C ratio, a value of 16 is obtained, this shows the benefits of coffee farming, where every IDR 1,000,000 invested in coffee farming will generate 16 times the income. The NPV value of coffee farming has a value of IDR 36,141,085, supported by an NBCR value of 2.04, and the ground coffee processing business by CV. Kopindo Sukses Bersama obtained an NPV value of IDR 10,153,539,739, and also an NBCR value of 2.05, meaning that smallholder coffee farming in South Konawe Regency is financially profitable and feasible to develop.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of livestock and explore sustainable incomes for beef cattle fattening farmers with the location of the agricultural area and the Tempeh Factory area in Konda Sub-district, South Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi. Data retrieval was used the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, which was an approach that involves family members or individuals to analyze the reality of the living conditions they run. This study involved 45 farmers who were selected by purposive sampling based on five considerations. The analytical model used to test the differences between the two locations wasthe independent T-test analysis. The results showed that the age of the breeder, the experience of raising livestock, the number of family dependents, and the number of livestock ownership were not significantly different (p>0.05) from the two research locations. The motivation for raising livestock as savings and functions as fertilizer was not significantly different in the two locations, but the motivation for livestock as the main source of income showed that the area of agricultural location was higher than that of the Forging Factory (P

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility of vegetable farming with a hydroponic system in Kendari City, with a case study on Simbo Hydroponics. Simbo Hydroponics is a household business that utilizes the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) system to cultivate several types of vegetables including lettuce, pak choy, Chinese cabbage, caisim cabbage, and samhong. This study uses a quantitative and qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis includes calculating income, Revenue Cost Ratio (RCR), and Break Even Point (BEP). The results of the analysis show that the Simbo Hydroponics farming business has a positive income level and an RCR value > 1, which means that this business is financially feasible to be developed. The break-even point (BEP) of production and price also shows that the business is in a profitable condition. Thus, this hydroponic business can be used as an alternative urban agricultural business that is efficient, sustainable, and has bright prospects

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difference in the volume of broiler chicken sales before and after halal certification at the Alhijrah Kendari Chicken Slaughterhouse (RPA). Halal certification is a crucial factor that influences consumer trust and purchasing decisions, especially in a predominantly Muslim community. The research employs a quantitative approach using paired t-test analysis to compare the sales data of broiler chickens before and after certification was obtained. The findings indicate a significant increase in the sales volume of broiler chickens following the halal certification, with a notable surge of 2-3 times during major religious holidays, such as Eid. This increase highlights the positive impact of halal certification on consumer behavior, as it assures them of the product's quality and compliance with religious standards. The results of this study provide valuable insights for business owners and stakeholders in the poultry industry, emphasizing the potential benefits of obtaining halal certification to boost sales and consumer trust in the market

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of brown rice on the income and consumption of farming households in North Kulisusu District, North Buton Regency. The research sample included all 44 brown rice farmers, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research area consists of lowlands to hills, partly coastal, with a tropical climate, and the majority of the population earns a living as farmers. Farming is carried out traditionally starting from land preparation, planting with a spacing of 30 × 30 cm, maintenance, until harvesting 1–2 weeks after being ready. Respondents are of productive age, mostly elementary school graduates, have more than 10 years of farming experience, and manage 0–1 hectare of land. The results show an average production cost of IDR 1,097,245 per year with a net income of IDR 4,855,028 per year, indicating a significant contribution of brown rice to farmer income. Of the average production of 220.5 kg per year, 9.81% is consumed by households and the remainder is marketed. Brown rice serves as a source of income and food. Improved efficiency of farming practices, land diversification, and support from the government and relevant institutions are recommended to increase yields, incomes, and local food consumption. This study confirms the economic and health potential of red rice cultivation in the region

Abstract

Smallholder oil palm plantations play an important role in supporting the economy of the community in Konawe Regency, particularly in the Besulutu and Pondidaha districts. The productivity of smallholder oil palms is often not optimal because most farmers still use cultivation techniques that do not meet standards. Therefore, the community service team of the Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University took the initiative to collaborate with the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University to carry out extension activities regarding Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) as an environmentally friendly, efficient, and sustainable cultivation approach. This activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of oil palm farmers in managing their plantations so that their harvests are of higher quality and more productive. The activity was carried out in a participatory manner through several stages. In the preparation stage, the team coordinated with stakeholders, identified farmers' needs, and prepared extension materials. The next stage was the extension itself, which consisted of material presentations, interactive discussions, and field visits. Next, the evaluation stage was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to assess the increase in farmers' knowledge after participating in the activity. The evaluation results showed an increase in knowledge, with an average post-test score of 90 compared to a pre-test score of 54. These findings indicate that extension activities are effective in improving farmers’ understanding of GAP principles. However, the measurable impact of these activities is still limited to increased knowledge and does not yet include improved crop yields. Therefore, continued support is needed to encourage the implementation of GAP, which will have a positive impact on the productivity and sustainability of smallholder oil palm farming.
