Abstract

Abstract The Effort of Subak Preservation in Urban Area (Case Study in Subak Padanggalak, Kesiman Kertalangu Village, Denpasar Timur) The aims of the study are: (1) to examine Subak Padanggalak’s efforts in preserving and sustaining itself for the future on, and (2) to describe the role of goverment and private sector to support the effort in preserving and sustaining Subak Padanggalak. The research location was chosen using purposive method in Subak Padanggalak, Kesiman Kertalangu Village, East Denpasar Sub District, Denpasar. The analysis of this research used a descriptive qualitative method to answer the research questions. Data were collected by using in-depth interviews from eight key informants. The research results show that the efforts made to preserve and to sustain Subak Padanggalak based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy as follow: (a) parhyangan aspects, subak protects, preserves, and mantains the ritual facilities and conducts routinely the subak’s ritual activities not only in subak level but also in individual level, (b)  pawongan aspects, subak makes an agreement to prevent subak land conversion to be non agricultural purposes and also manages irrigation water distribution, and (c)  palemahan aspects, subak regularly arranges the mutual cooperation activities related to natural and environmental conservation, irrigation networks and other physical buildings maintenance, efficient land use management, and provides safety situations in subak. Furthermore, the assistance provided by the government and private sector in the form of financial assistance, counseling, coaching, agricultural extension, and jogging track. Abstract

The Comparison of Hot Chili Farming Incomes by Using Organic Fertilizer and Mixture Fertilizer (Organic, and Inorganic)(Case Study In Subak Kudungan, Bontihing Village, Kubutambahan Distric,Buleleng Regency)The problem faced by famers of hot chili is obstacle the cultivation which done from the less production result of achieve national potential target of 10 to 20 tonnes/ha and to overcome obstacles especially in plants cultivation which done by applying a low-tech chemical inputs and cultivation technology of conservation which is implemented in integrated crop processing hot chili by applying organic fertilizer. Therefore this research aims to know the comparison of hot chili farming incomes by using organic fertilizer and mixture fertilizer. This research was conducted from August until September 2016 in Subak Kudungan Bontihing village Kubutambahan distric Buleleng regency. The data were analyzed by income analysis, R/C ratio analysis and Uji-t analysis. The results showed that hot chili farming incomes in one season per hectare using inorganic fertilizer is loweer than using a mixture fertilizer, use inorganic fertilizer Rp 21. 586.846,00 and use mixture fertilizer Rp 26.489.791,00. R/C ratio hot chili farming using organic fertilizer which is 2,09 higher than using mixture fertilizer 2,03. The result of Uji-t analysis showed hot chili farming incomes using inorganic fertilizer and mixture fertilizer was not significantly different at the level 5%.

Abstract

Farmer Motivation in Red Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Farming in Glagahagung Village, Purwoharjo Sub-district of Banyuwangi District Red dragon fruit cultivation have increased in several regions in Indonesia, especially in the island of Java in the last decade. Red dragon fruit cultivation is said better source of income for farmers than other commodity plants that bhave been cultivated by farmers. This research is intended to find out what and how is the level of motivation offarmers in the Glagahagung village in diverting their cultivation from rice farming and palawija to red dragon fruit farming. The study uses descriptive analysis method to analyze four factors that form motivation, namely, economic need, economic environment, social need, and social environment the variable in this study. The study suggests the motivation of red dragon fruit farmer in Glagahagung village is at very good category with the value of 2,83 based on the average score result of four variables that form motivation. The economic need scores 2,81, economic environtment scores 2,78, social need scores 2,85 and social environment scores 2,86, from highest Likert scale that is used (3,00).

Abstract

Correlation of Farmers Motivation to Cultivate Vegetables with TheirInvolvement atPeken Carik Activity in Subak Sembung, Peguyangan Village,North Denpasar Sub-districtVegetables are one of the horticultural sub-sector plants which is amount cultivatedbylots of farmers, one of them is farmers in Subak Sembung, Peguyangan Village,North Denpasar Sub-district. Subak Sembung developed into an ecotourism and has asupporting program known as peken carik activity. All of farmers in Subak Sembungare involved at peken carik activity and make it as an shopping tour media to sellvegetables to people which is in line with their motivation to cultivate vegetables. Thisresearch aims to determine the level of farmers motivation to cultivate vegetables, thelevel of farmers involvement at peken carik activity, and correlation between thefarmers motivation to cultivate vegetables with their involvement at peken carik activityin Subak Sembung, Peguyangan Village, North Denpasar Sub-district. Sampling are 60respondent using incidental method. The data were analyzed used qualitative analysisand quantitative analysis of Spearman rank correlation test.The result of qualitativeanalysis to describe the level of farmers motivation to cultivate vegetables was in highcategory, however the level of farmers involvement at peken carik activity was in verylow category. The result of Spearman rank correlation test showed the correlation offarmer motivation to cultivate vegetables with their involvement at peken carik activityin Subak Sembung, Peguyangan Village, North Denpasar Sub-districtwas in lowcategory.

Abstract

Farmer Behavior towards the Program of Gerbang Pangan Serasi (A Case atIrrigation Organization of Subak Tajen, Village of Tajen, Penebel Sub-District,Regency of Tabanan) Continuous use of inorganic fertilizer for a long time has had a negative impact onsoil and the environment. In order to maintain the existence of the agricultural sectorand to implement the efforts towards organic agriculture, the local government ofTabanan Regency established a flagship program called the Gerbang Pangan Serasi(GPS) Program. This study aims to determine the behavior of farmers towards theGerbang Pangan Serasi (GPS) Program, which is measured from the level ofknowledge, attitude, and skills. The research was conducted in Subak Tajen, TajenVillage, Penebel Sub-District, Tabanan Regency. The selection of research site wasdone purposively. The population was the Subak Tajen members who received theGerbang Pangan Serasi (GPS) Program as many as 34 people. With the censustechnique, 12 farmers who received the aid of cattle were taken as respondents, plus12 farmers who did not receive the aid of cattle. Thus, the total number ofrespondents was 24 people. Based on the findings of the research, it is known that thebehavior of farmers who received the aid of cattle towards the Gerbang PanganSerasi Program is good category, with knowledge score of 3,91, attitude score of4,08 and skill score of 4,82. Whereas, the behavior of farmers who did not receivethe aid of cattle was in moderate category, with the knowledge score of 3,01, attitudescore of 3,69 and skill of 2,78. Thus, the behavior of farmers who received cattleassistance is categorized as good category with the score of 3.94 and the behavior offarmers who did not get the aid of cattle is classified as moderate category with thescore 3.35. Based on the findings, it is suggested to farmers that they should bewilling to apply technology and innovation in the field of agriculture provided byextension workers, because the farmers will get new experiences to be applied intheir farming.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Consumers’ Perception toward Organic and Inorganic Rice at Satvika Boga Shop in Sanur Denpasar The objective of this research is to know the consumers’ perception level toward organic and inorganic rice and to know the consumers’ perception differences toward organic and inorganic rice. The research is descriptive by nature. Primary data was obtained from direct observation in the field and interview using questionnaire, meanwhile secondary data was obtained from the agencies/institutions. Previously the data that was obtained from the respondents was analyzed beforehand using validity and reliability tests. In this research using qualitative descriptive analysis method with Likert scale, descriptive statistic analysis, and nonparametric differentiation test analysis with Wilcoxon method. Respondents’ perception toward organic and inorganic rice equally included in good category with different score achievement, that is 81,86% for organic rice and 71,55% for inorganic rice. There is an obvious difference of respondents’ perception between organic and inorganic rice. It is can be seen from the statistic analysis result which shows Z value at -4,799 with the Asymp. Sig at 0,000 . The shop owner is expected to be always able to maintain the quality of organic rice, the government should provide the subsidy for organic rice and the farmers need the assistances from the related agencies (agricultural instructors) in the case of pesticide usage reduction and chemical fertilizer and consumers should be more careful to select the appropriate rice either from the hygienic and quality aspects. Abstract

ABSTRACT Farmers’ Perception toward Awarding Degree Subak as World Cultural Heritage - Study Case in Subak Pulagan Tampaksiring District Gianyar Region Subak is the organization that regulates the irrigation system used in the rice field in Bali. Subak unique culture has an element of mutual support and the concept of Tri Hita Karana makes UNESCO decided to give awarding degree to subak as world cultural heritage. One of that subak is Subak Pulagan which one fed by the watershed (DAS) Pakerisan. Respondents in this research were 34 farmers taken from 160 farmers decided by random sampling method. Perceptions and expectations seen from three aspects, they’re mindset, social, and material aspects. Data analysis is done by descriptive – qualitative calculations using Likert scale. Perceptions result shown 83.63% or on good category. Almost all respondents said the response was excellent or agree with the statement in the questionnaires. Farmers' perceptions based on aspects of mindset has score 73.53% or on good category, social aspect’s score is 90.76% or on very well category, and material aspects’s score is 86.62% which is on very good category. They have hopes to make farmer’s life better in the future. Based on this study it can be seen that the members of Subak Pulagan still need the things related to improving productivity and enhancing the quality of life in order to retain continuity subak. Abstract The Impact of Land Conversion Paddy Farmer Owners To Home Life (A Case Study in Subak Lange, in the Area South Pemecutan Village, West Denpasar District) The Land Conversion Paddy Farmer Owners To Home Life have an impact on the decline in agricultural production and will have an impact on changes in the orientation of economic, social, cultural, political, and community. Increasing land use for shelter, a place to do business, the fulfillment of public access and other amenities that will lead to the available land so that the land was converted narrowing. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of conversion land use on the lives of farmers. How the lives of the farmers after selling his farm land. This study using in-depth interview technique. This study using variables and indicators in the three states of culture, namely: mindset, social systems, and artifacts or objects. Subak Lange is in the Pemecutan Village, West Denpasar District. Subak Lange is a located in the area South Pemecutan Village. West Denpasar Ditstrict. This study was conducted by purposive, there are some reason for location selection. The result of the study showed that land conversion have an impact on a better life than before, and some result showed there is also a feeling of life is not better after seling their farm land. This can be measured   in three states, namely culture mindset, social systems, and artifacts or objects. The purpose of selling his farm land because farmers used to open a business, health cost, home renovation cost, religious ceremonies, and used to dissipate. The reasons to sell farm land due to high taxes and harvest is uncertain. The feeling after selling the farm land, some farmer are happy anda some farmer feels regret. The interaction of the public prominence and families, some are good and some are not good or there is also have a conflict. The farmer’s income after selling their farm land more better than be a farmer by profession before. It needs good preparation from the farmers to the use of proceeds from the sale of rice fields used for working capital that is useful to farmers a better life because of farm land are sold out.

Abstract

Empowerment of Subak Penarungan as an Agribusiness Institution in PenarunganVillage, Sub-District of Mengwi, Badung Regency The preservation of subak or Balinese irrigation organization is important because itssustainability in Bali based on the Tri Hita Karana concepts. Subak-based economicbusiness is a food-based agribusiness or paddy fields. The studies on empowerment ofsubak as an agribusiness institution aimed to improve the economy and welfare offarmers, so that the agricultural culture is in demand and not abandoned by the SubakPenarungan community. This study aimed to determine (1) the potentials of subakrelated to natural resources, human resources, and financial resources, (2) the effortsmade to empower Subak Penarungan as an agribusiness institution. The research wasconducted in Subak Penarungan, Mengwi Sub-district, Badung Regency. The selectionof research site was done purposively. The population of this study is active members ofSubak Penarungan, amounting to 167 people. The sample size was determined by usingSlovin formula, so the number of respondents was 63 people. The data analysis used adescriptive qualitative analysis method. The findings showed that the potential of Subakpenarungan was in good category with the average score of 3.55, and the results ofresearch on the efforts of empowerment of Subak Penarungan was in good category,with average achievement score of 3.50. Based on the results of this study, it can besuggested to farmers that the assistance in the form of agricultural machine toolsprovided by the government for subak should be utilized properly, so as to increase theirproductivity.

Abstract

The Behavior of Farmers toward Animal Feed Processing Technology of Rice Straw Fermentation (A Case at Simantri 222 of Farmers’ Group of Sriasih in Pohsanten Village, SubDistrict of Mendoyo, Regency of Jembrana.)By the development of the agricultural sector in the Province of Bali, the Bali Provincial Government has implemented an integrated agriculture system, better known as Simantri whose aim is to support the development of farming in an integrated manner to the local potentials by increasing incomes as one of the supporting government programs to reduce poverty, integrating farming crops and cattle, and initiating the development of integrated sustainable agriculture in order to increase revenue. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of farmers’ behavior in Simantri 222 towards the development of fermented animal feed processing technology. The scope of this research was the study of the behavior (knowledge, attitudes, skills) of farmers toward the fermented feed processing technologies implemented by the members of Simantri 222 of farmers’ group of Sriasih of Pohsanten Village, Mendoyo Sub-District of Jembrana Regency. This study used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the behavior of members of Simantri on the fermented animal feed processing technologies found at Simantri 222 was classified as good category, with the score of knowledge of 3.93, while the score of attitude of 3.97 and the score of application of 4.16. Of the three components of behaviors (knowledge, attitude, and skills), it can be concluded that the behavior of farmers was classified as good category, by score of 4.02. For improving the behavior of members Simantri 222 of fermented animal feed processing, to be very well expected that extension can provide re-training in order for members to better understand the technology Simantri given.
