Abstract

Hatching is part of the nursery activity that is to maintain and increase the population of quail livestock. Research on the influence of old temperature of hatching quail egg to hatchability, fertility, egg shrink weight and weight of quail egg hatch has been done for one month, this research aim to know influence of temperature and duration of egg storage to fertility, hatchability, hatching weight, and Egg shrinkage weight in the quail and can know the temperature and long storage is good for hatched. This study used quail eggs (Coturnix coturnix japonica), as many as 180 items divided into two groups. Each is a group with a temperature of 27-30 oC and 17-20 oC group with egg storage duration (1 day, 3 days, and 6 days). The hatching machine used is semi-automatic hatching machine, before the egg is inserted into a hatching machine performed selection that includes egg shape and egg weight, for storage of 27-30 oC in room chamber and for 17-20 oC  temperature in air-conditioned room with a temperature of 16 oC before the save egg in weigh and before inserted into the engine hatching the egg back in weigh. From 2 factors with three levels are obtained 6 treatment combinations each treatment - each treatment is repeated 5 times, each repetition consists of 6 grains. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) 3 x 2 for fertility variable, hatchability, hatching weight and egg shrinkage. The results showed that the temperature gives a real effect on the hatchability, egg shrinkage, while for egg weight only gives a real effect on hatchability and shrinkage of eggs.Keyword: fertility variable, hatchability, hatching weight and egg shrinkage

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of Moringa leaf solution on the production performance of laying quail (Coturnix-coturnix japonica).  The livestock used in this research are 100 quails with the age of 35 day and average body weight 125,93 ± 3,056 g. The rations used were commercial period rations layer and drinking water mixed with Moringa leaf solution. The research design used was the Completely Randomized Designed with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments given in this research are R0: drinking water without Moringa leaf solution, R1: drinking water + 5% of Moringa leaf solution, R2: drinking water + 10% Moringa leaf solution, R3: drinking water + 15% of Moringa leaf solution. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The variables observed in this study were ration consumption, egg production, egg weight, egg mass production, ration conversion and mortality. Giving of Moringa leaf solution in quail did not significantly affect the ration and egg production, but it gave the effect on ration consumption, egg weight and egg mass production. Giving 5% of Moringa leaf solution can increase ration consumption, egg production, and improve the ration conversion and 0% mortality. Giving 15% Moringa leaf solution can increase the weight of the egg. Keywords: production performance, quail, Moringa leaf solution

Abstract

The study was aimed at assessing the potential of papaya leaf extract as an herbal antibiotic used as a supplement in drinking water of quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica).  Physical properties of meat including pH value, water holding capacity, cooking loss, and sensory properties including tenderness, taste, flavor, juiciness, color, and texture were measured.  The study was conducted from 18 February to 18 March 2017.  Quail birds aged 40-44 weeks were put in battery cages sized 128 cm x 60 cm x 167 cm.  Treatments consisted of drinking water with no papaya leaf extract (control, R0), drinking water with commercial antibiotic of 0.5 g/l (R1),  drinking water with papaya leaf extract of 10 ml/l (R2),  drinking water with papaya leaf extract of 20 ml/l (R3), and drinking water with papaya leaf extract of 30 ml/l (R4).  Drinking water was given ad libitum.  A completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 5 replicates was used.  Data were subjected to an analysis of variance and a Kruskal-Wallis test. Results showed that the inclusion of papaya leaf extract in drinking water no significant effects on physical quality of quail meat and consumer acceptance include aroma, taste, color,  tenderness, juicenees and texture.Keywords: sensory quality, layer quail, papaya leaf extract.

Abstract

Egg quality can be determined by measuring exterior quality includes egg shape, weight, while interior includes haugh unit (HU) value, yolk and egg albumen. This research aims to assess the potential of moringa leaf solution as an effort to improve the quality of quail eggs. This research was conducted from December 2017 to January 2018. The research was conducted at Badrupuyuh Farm Kp. Sukajaya RT 01/02 Ciomas Bogor Regency. The livestock that used in this research are 100 quails with age 35 day and average weight 125,93 ± 3,056 g. The feed that been used is a layered commercial and drinking water that mixed with Moringa leaf solution. The research design that been used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment given in this research is R0: Drinking water without Moringa leaf, R1: 5% of moringa leaf solution, R2: 10% of moringa leaf solution, R3: 15% of moringa leaf solution. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If it shows significant difference (P <0.05) or very significant different (P <0.01) then we will test it again with Duncan test. The variables observed in this study are egg index, weight of shell, thick of shell, yolk color and haugh unit. The application of moringa leaves solution up to 10% can increase the quail egg yolk color but has no significant effect on the egg index, the weight of the shell, the thickness of the shell and the haugh unit.Keywords: egg quality, quail, Moringa leaf solution

Abstract

Tomato (lycopersicon esculentum) is one of Indonesia's local fruits that contain lots of vitamin C and lycopene. Tofu waste is a plant commonly used as an alternative feed to reduce the cost of large feeds. The aims of this research is to find out how far the addition of tomato flour and tofu waste has an influence on the external quality of quail eggs (Coturnix coturnix japanica). The material used in this research was 160 quails, aged 35 weeks with the treatment given : P0 100% control food; P1: 95% control food + 2.5% tomato flour and 2.5% tofu waste; P2: 90% control food + 5% tomato flour and 5% tofu waste; P3: 85% control food + 7.5% tomato flour and 7.5% tofu waste. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications with each treatment filled with 13 chickens so that there were 160 quails, then continued with Duncan's multiple range test. Variables observed during the study included egg index, shell thickness and egg weight. The results showed that giving tomato flour and tofu waste to quail feed did not affect the real results on the external quality of quail eggs (egg weight, shell thickness and egg index).Key words : external quality of quail egg, tomato flour, tofu waste

Abstract

The quail is one kind of poultries that can give the distribution of society interests in case of eggs providing.  There are kinds of research that related to feed aspect, one of them is the way to increase the quality of feed by adding tofu waste and tomato flour on commercial feed. The aim of this research is to review the influences of giving the tofu waste and tofu tomato flour on commercial feed toward quail performance (cortunix cortunix japonica) in layer period.  Complete randomized design with used by the following treatment P0 (Provision of commercial feed without tofu and tomato flour), P1 (Provision of commercial food with 2.5% tofu dregs and 2.5% tomato flour), P2 (Provision of commercial food with 5% dregs of tofu and 5% tomato flour and P3 (giving commercial food with 7.5% tofu waste and 7.5% tomato flour).The treatment was conducted to quail aged 35 days until 67 days old. The feed and drink was given by adlibitium (always available). Giving tofu waste and tomato flour does not affect the feed consumption, egg’s weight, feed convertion, depletion, and the production of quail’s egg in layer period.Key words : Quail performance of layer period, tofu waste, tomato flour,  commercial feed

Abstract

One of the information needed by farmers is information about nutrition ration poultry in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). This study aims to determine the value of energy metabolism in commercial chicken rations. Determination of energy metabolism was conducted by Farrel in which chickens were fed like a chicken eating chicken feed itself and previously fasted for 24 hours and still be drinking. The ration of treatment used is feed corn, feed rations BR1 and BR2. Chickens were given time for 2 hours to eat the feed later in the fasting. After fasting rationing and the chicken will issue feces, to prevent the evaporation of nitrogen in the feces spraying by the use of H2SO4 concentration 0,01%. Chicken feces then dried and analyzed by the laboratory using a bomb calorimeter. The data in the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan test. Corn research results show that the energy metabolism in the feed ration obtained BR1 3.048 kcal/kg and BR2 3.237 kcal/kg. The result can be concluded that the value is in compliance with EM EM minimum value required in SNI minimum of 2.900 kcal / kg with a value of EM listed on the label.Keywords:  Energy Metabolism, Commercial feed, Corn

Abstract

Penelitian kualitas isi rumen sapi (IRS) yang difortifikasi dan difermentasi berasal dari sapi brahman cross jantan yang diadakan dalam rangka untuk mengungkap pengaruh perlakuan fortifikasi dan fermentasi pada kandungan nutrisi dan ciri-ciri fisik. Perlakuan adalah (1). Jenis fortifikasi A (isi rumen sapi 62% + dedak 32% + molases 6% + urea 1%) dengan tanpa fermentasi , 2 minggu dan 4 minggu waktu fermentasi. (2). Jenis fortifikasi B (isi rumen sapi 62% + dedak 32% + molases 5% + urea 1% + zeolit 1%) dengan tanpa fermentasi, 2 minggu, dan 4 minggu waktu fermentasi. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap faktorial 2 x 3 faktor, faktor yang di gunakan 2 fortifikasi yang berbeda dan 3 lama fermentasi yang berbeda, uji Duncan dan Tukey digunakan apabila sebelumnya uji univariate dan kruskal-wallis menunjukkan berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan nutrisi isi rumen sapi fermentasi hanya kandungan protein kasar yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dan kandungan abu lebih rendah daripada jenis fortifikasi B ketika diperam selama 4 minggu fermentasi. Tetapi kedua perlakuan tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada serat kasar ataupun lemak dan pH. Pengaruh perlakuan pada beberapa ciri-ciri fisik isi rumen sapi menunjukkan bahwa jenis fortifikasi A menghasilkan warna, tekstur, dan aroma lebih baik daripada jenis perlakuan fortifikasi B selama 4 minggu fermentasi.

Abstract

Ampas kelapa merupakan limbah yang mempunyai kandungan nutrisi yang baik, sehingga berpotensi dijadikan pakan ternak ayam khususnya ayam kampung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji energi metabolis ayam kampung dengan mensubstitusikan sebagai pakan komersil dengan tepung ampas kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Desember 2015 sampai januari 2016 di Laboratorium Lapangan Ternak Unggas, Program Studi Peternakan, Universitas Djuanda Bogor. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini P0 100% Pakan komersil, P1 90% Pakan komersil + 10% Tepung ampas kelapa, P2 80% Pakan komersil + 20% Tepung ampas kelapa, P3 70% Pakan komersil + 30% Tepung ampas kelapa. Data yang diperoleh dari analisis menggunakan Analisys of Variance (ANOVA) dan uji Duncan. Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi energi metabolis, energi metabolis ransum dan energi metabolis ampas kelapa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa energi metabolis ayam kampung selama penelitian tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05), energi metabolis ransum ayam kampung menunjukkan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) dan energi metabolis ampas kelapa. Substitusi ransum komersil dengan tepung ampas kelapa dapat dilakukan sampai tingkat 30% tanpa mengurangi kandungan energi metabolis ayam kampung.

Abstract

Daun sirih memiliki potensi sebagai anti biotik pengganti antibiotik komersil karena mempunyai karakteristik sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji performa produksi produksi telur burung puyuh yang diberi minum larutan daun sirih (Piper betle LINN) dalam air minum. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut adalah: R0: Air minum + antibiotik komersil; R1: Air minum + 5 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R2 : Air minum + 10 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R3: Air minum R0 + 15 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R4: Air minum + 20 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian larutan daun sirih pada burung puyuh berpengaruh tidak berpengaruh produksi telur, konversi ransum, indeks kualitas telur dan tebal kerabang telur. Pemberian larutan daun sirih dalam air minum puyuh petelur dapat menggantikan suplemen antibiotik komersil.Kata kunci: larutan daun sirih, puyuh petelur
