Abstract

Dates press cake is a waste product a date syrup industry which is potensial to be used as animal feed. This research was aimed to study the effects of corn substitution with date press cake in commercial ration on the percentage of giblet and abdominal fat of broiler. The study was conducted at the Trial Farm of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Djuanda, Bogor from 17 February to 16 March 2014. One hundred and five one of day old Cobb Slouw chicks were used in this research. The chickens were fed commercialRation BR 0, BR 1 and the combination of corn and dates press cake. The design of research was used a completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were: 100% commercial ration (R0, as control), 97.5% commercial ration added 2,5% corn (R1), 97.5% commercial ration added 2,5% dates press cake (R2), 95% commercial ration added 5% corn (R3), 95% commercial ration added 5% dates press cake (R4), 92,5% commercial ration added 7,5% corn (R5) and 92,5% commercial ration added 7,5% dates press cake (R6). The data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan test. The results showed that treatments did not give any signicant effect on all of parameters ie: slaughter weight, percentage of giblet and percentage of abdominal fat. It was concluded that dates press cake could be used up to 7.5% in commercial ration of broiler

Abstract

Bacterial resistance to antibiotic has made the reduction in the use of antibiotic a concern in animal production.  The restriction of antibiotic application in animal production can be achieved if the antimicrobial strategy is available.  Papaya leaf extract has some antibacterial properties that make it is potential to be used as a substitute for commercial antibiotic.  This study was aimed at assessing the efficacy and potential of papaya leaf extract inclusion in drinking water in controlling pathogenic bacteria and improving the production efficiency and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of layer quails.  The study was conducted from 24 August to 20 September 2016 at the poultry farm of Department of Animal Husbandry, Djuanda University, Bogor.  One-hundred layer quails were allocated into 4 treatments and 3 replicates in a completely randomized design.  The treatments consisted of five levels of papaya leaf extract inclusions in drinking water , namely drinking water + commercial antibiotic of 0.5 g/liter water (R1), drinking water + papaya leaf extract of 10 ml/liter water (R2), drinking water + papaya leaf extract of 20 ml/liter water (R3), and drinking water + papaya leaf extract of 30 ml/liter water (R4).  Data were subjected to an analysis of variance and a Duncan test.  Results showed that the inclusion of papaya leaf extract in drinking water gave significant effects on egg mass, egg production efficiency, FCR, egg quality index, and egg shell thickness but not on feed intake, egg weight, and mortality rate.  It was concluded that papaya leaf extract produced by a boiling method could be used as a substitute for synthetic antibiotic.  Key words: Papaya leaf extract, production efficiency, feed conversion, layer quail.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun sirih terhadap Retensi Nitrogen dan Energi Metabolis ransum pada ayam Broiler. Penelitian ini menggunakan 25 ayam Broiler jantan strain Cobb umur 30 hari, Penelitian ini terdiri atas 5 perlakuan dengan (KO) sebagai kontrol atau perlakuan tanpa daun sirih, (K1) pakan +anti biotik Zn-Bacitracin 50 ppm, (S1) 10 ml larutan perlakuan daun sirih per liter air minum, (S2) 20 ml larutan perlakuan daun sirih per liter air minum, dan (S3) 30 ml larutan perlakuan daun sirih per liter air minum. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian daun sirih dalam air minum berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) meningkatkan energi metabolis dan retensi nitrogen. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pemberian tepung ampas kurma sebagai subtitusi jagung pada pakan komersial dan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar tepung ampas kurma bisa menggantikan jagung. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu P0 100 % pakan komersial (kontrol), P1 97,5 % pakan komersial + 2,5% jagung, P2 97,5 % pakan komersial + 2,5% tepung ampas kurma, P3 95 % pakan komersial + 5% jagung, P4 95 % pakan komersial + 5% tepung ampas kurma, P5 92,5 % pakan komersial + 7,5% jagung, P6 92,5 % pakan komersial + 7,5 % tepung ampas kurma. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Duncan. Pemberian pakan komersial mengandung tepung ampas kurma sampai dengan level 7,5 % tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan bobot badan, konsumsi pakan dan konversi pakan. Indeks performa ayam pedaging yang diberi 95 % pakan komersial + 5 % tepung jagung mendapatkan prestasi yang paling baik (istimewa) dari perlakuan lainya. Nilai IOFC ayam pedaging pada penelitian ini, perlakuan yang diberi 95 % pakan komersial + 5 % tepung jagung mendapatkan nilai IOFC yang paling tinggi dari perlakuan lainya. Tepung ampas kurma dapat menggantikan pakan komersial dan jagung sampai level 7,5 %.

Abstract

One of the information needed by farmers is information about nutrition ration poultry in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). This study aims to determine the value of energy metabolism in commercial chicken rations. Determination of energy metabolism was conducted by Farrel in which chickens were fed like a chicken eating chicken feed itself and previously fasted for 24 hours and still be drinking. The ration of treatment used is feed corn, feed rations BR1 and BR2. Chickens were given time for 2 hours to eat the feed later in the fasting. After fasting rationing and the chicken will issue feces, to prevent the evaporation of nitrogen in the feces spraying by the use of H2SO4 concentration 0,01%. Chicken feces then dried and analyzed by the laboratory using a bomb calorimeter. The data in the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan test. Corn research results show that the energy metabolism in the feed ration obtained BR1 3.048 kcal/kg and BR2 3.237 kcal/kg. The result can be concluded that the value is in compliance with EM EM minimum value required in SNI minimum of 2.900 kcal / kg with a value of EM listed on the label.Keywords:  Energy Metabolism, Commercial feed, Corn

Abstract

Penelitian kualitas isi rumen sapi (IRS) yang difortifikasi dan difermentasi berasal dari sapi brahman cross jantan yang diadakan dalam rangka untuk mengungkap pengaruh perlakuan fortifikasi dan fermentasi pada kandungan nutrisi dan ciri-ciri fisik. Perlakuan adalah (1). Jenis fortifikasi A (isi rumen sapi 62% + dedak 32% + molases 6% + urea 1%) dengan tanpa fermentasi , 2 minggu dan 4 minggu waktu fermentasi. (2). Jenis fortifikasi B (isi rumen sapi 62% + dedak 32% + molases 5% + urea 1% + zeolit 1%) dengan tanpa fermentasi, 2 minggu, dan 4 minggu waktu fermentasi. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap faktorial 2 x 3 faktor, faktor yang di gunakan 2 fortifikasi yang berbeda dan 3 lama fermentasi yang berbeda, uji Duncan dan Tukey digunakan apabila sebelumnya uji univariate dan kruskal-wallis menunjukkan berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan nutrisi isi rumen sapi fermentasi hanya kandungan protein kasar yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dan kandungan abu lebih rendah daripada jenis fortifikasi B ketika diperam selama 4 minggu fermentasi. Tetapi kedua perlakuan tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada serat kasar ataupun lemak dan pH. Pengaruh perlakuan pada beberapa ciri-ciri fisik isi rumen sapi menunjukkan bahwa jenis fortifikasi A menghasilkan warna, tekstur, dan aroma lebih baik daripada jenis perlakuan fortifikasi B selama 4 minggu fermentasi.

Abstract

Ampas kelapa merupakan limbah yang mempunyai kandungan nutrisi yang baik, sehingga berpotensi dijadikan pakan ternak ayam khususnya ayam kampung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji energi metabolis ayam kampung dengan mensubstitusikan sebagai pakan komersil dengan tepung ampas kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Desember 2015 sampai januari 2016 di Laboratorium Lapangan Ternak Unggas, Program Studi Peternakan, Universitas Djuanda Bogor. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini P0 100% Pakan komersil, P1 90% Pakan komersil + 10% Tepung ampas kelapa, P2 80% Pakan komersil + 20% Tepung ampas kelapa, P3 70% Pakan komersil + 30% Tepung ampas kelapa. Data yang diperoleh dari analisis menggunakan Analisys of Variance (ANOVA) dan uji Duncan. Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi energi metabolis, energi metabolis ransum dan energi metabolis ampas kelapa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa energi metabolis ayam kampung selama penelitian tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05), energi metabolis ransum ayam kampung menunjukkan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) dan energi metabolis ampas kelapa. Substitusi ransum komersil dengan tepung ampas kelapa dapat dilakukan sampai tingkat 30% tanpa mengurangi kandungan energi metabolis ayam kampung.

Abstract

Daun sirih memiliki potensi sebagai anti biotik pengganti antibiotik komersil karena mempunyai karakteristik sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji performa produksi produksi telur burung puyuh yang diberi minum larutan daun sirih (Piper betle LINN) dalam air minum. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut adalah: R0: Air minum + antibiotik komersil; R1: Air minum + 5 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R2 : Air minum + 10 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R3: Air minum R0 + 15 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air; R4: Air minum + 20 ml larutan daun sirih / liter air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian larutan daun sirih pada burung puyuh berpengaruh tidak berpengaruh produksi telur, konversi ransum, indeks kualitas telur dan tebal kerabang telur. Pemberian larutan daun sirih dalam air minum puyuh petelur dapat menggantikan suplemen antibiotik komersil.Kata kunci: larutan daun sirih, puyuh petelur

Abstract

Quail has well known to many people. Quail is a land birds that has small body, short legs, and could not fly high. Quail has a plenty big potential as layer bird. This study aims to determine the optimal length and width ratio of the cage to obtain maximum quail (coturnix coturnix japonica) productivity. This study was conducted for one month to assess the effect of many treatments : P1 ratio of length and width cage 1 : 1 (length70 cm width 68 cm), P2 ratio of length and width cage 1,5 : 1 (length 84 cm width 57 cm), and P3 ratio of length and width cage 2 : 1 (length 98 cm width 49 cm). The following treatments performed on Quail with age around 7th to 11th weeks. Observed variables are feed consumption ratio, eggs productions, feed convention ration, quail day production, and the amount of weight eggs. Treatment with the ratio of length and width cage 2 : 1 with cage length 98 cm and width 49 cm affected the quail productivity such as feed consumption, average of eggs weight, feed conversion, quail day production, and amount of egg weight. Such treathments may increase the productivity of the quail of the production period.Keywords : quail, ratio, cage size, productivity, production period.

Abstract

The quail is one kind of poultries that can give the distribution of society interests in case of eggs providing.  There are kinds of research that related to feed aspect, one of them is the way to increase the quality of feed by adding ginger flour and turmeric flour on commercial feed. The aim of this research is to review the influences of giving the ginger flour (Zinger officinale) and turmeric flour (Curcuma domestica) on commercial feed toward quail performance (cortunix cortunix japonica) in layer period.  Complete randomized design with used by the following treatment:  P0 (commercial feeding without ginger flour and turmeric flour), P1 (commercial feeding with 1% ginger flour), P2 (commercial feeding with 1% turmeric flour), and P3 (feed commercial with 0.5% ginger flour and 0.5% turmeric flour). The treatment was conducted to quail aged 35 days until 67 days old. The feed and drink was given by adlibitium (always available). Giving ginger flour and turmeric flour does not affect the feed consumption, egg’s weight, feed convertion, depletion, and the production of quail’s egg in layer period, however, by adding 1% ginger on rations that is used, it can improve the convertion in the amount of  12.4% and increase the producing of egg in the amount of 19.9%.Key words : Quail performance of layer period, ginger flour, turmeric flour,  commercial feed
