Abstract

This research is based on students' low mathematical problem solving abilities. One effort that can improve this situation is by using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model. The aim of this research is to determine the differences in the improvement and influence of students' mathematical understanding abilities using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model assisted by ludo magnets and students using the conventional learning model with a scientific approach in class IV students at SDN Mekarjaya 28. The type of research used is quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental research. The design of this research is a non-equivalent control group design by providing an initial ability test, namely a pretest and a final ability test, namely a posttest, after being given treatment in the two classes that have been determined. The samples chosen in this research were 20 students in class IV A and 20 students in class IV B. The instruments used in this research were tests and non-tests. The results of the research show that the difference in increasing mathematical problem solving abilities of class IV A students who study using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model get better results compared to class IV B students who study using conventional learning models with a scientific approach. There is also an influence of implementing the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities in mathematics learning in elementary schools. Looking at the results obtained, the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model can be used as an alternative to be used in the classroom learning process so that the learning carried out is more enjoyable and more meaningful.   Keywords: ludo magnet media, students mathematical problem solving ability, teams games tournament type cooperative model

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the value of spatial sense abilities in elementary school pupils. Students' spatial sense abilities are still regarded as lacking, most likely as a result of the way that present teaching approaches fail to encourage students' active construction of knowledge. The purpose of this study was to look into how students' spatial sense skills were affected and improved when the Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach using geoboards was used. A sample of 56 fourth-graders from SDN Lebakgede participated in the study; 28 of the children in the experimental group received education utilizing the CPA technique with geoboards, while the remaining 28 students in the control group received traditional instruction using problem-based learning (PBL). A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was used in the study. Two types of data were gathered for the study: test data (pretest and posttest) and non-test data (daily notebooks, observation sheets, and documentation). Descriptive and inferential analysis techniques were used to examine the data. When comparing students who got training using the CPA approach with geoboards to those who received traditional PBL education, the results showed a considerable improvement in spatial sense skills. Students' spatial sense skills improved when the CPA technique was used in conjunction with geoboards. Thus, the CPA method using geoboards might be seen as a useful substitute for instruction, particularly when teaching ideas of plane geometry to fourth-grade children.

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is an important skill that students must have in learning mathematics. However, in reality, there are still many elementary school students who have difficulty in understanding mathematical concepts due to inappropriate learning approaches and unattractive media. Therefore, this study aims to determine the influence and improvement of students' understanding of mathematical concepts, one of which is by implementing the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model assisted by video animaker media. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design and purposive sampling technique. This study compares two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Data collection was carried out through an initial test (pretest) and a final test (posttest), and was supported by observation and documentation. Based on the results of the study, the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model assisted by video animaker media is more effective in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts when compared to conventional learning. The Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model assisted by video animaker media has an influence of 45.5% in influencing the improvement of students' understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This study focuses on the low mathematical critical thinking skills of students, as they often struggle to modify mathematical models. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and improvement of the Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFE) learning model assisted by canva media on the mathematical critical thinking skills of elementary school students. This research was conducted in a class IV elementary school, focusing on the mathematics subject of flat building materials. The class used class IVA as the experimental class using the SFE learning model assisted by canva media, while class IVC as the control class used the Group Investigation (GI) learning model. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design and the technique used in selecting samples is purposive sampling. The sample used amounted to 52 students with each class of 26 students. Based on the research results, the SFE learning model has an effect of 56% on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. Then, based on the results of the average N-Gain of the experimental class of 78.00, while in the control class of 62.38. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the SFE learning model assisted by canva media can provide a better influence and improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills in class IV flat building material.
