Abstract

This article aims to develop an understanding the innovative institutional capacity by taking example from the empirical case pointing out of how the Panglima Laot institution plays its role as a distributor of insurance programs for fishermen. Through a series of qualitative research, this article succed to find that the Panglima Laot's institutional capacity can be categorized in quadrant II since Panglima Laot had already solid formations and functions. Nevetheless in the case of channeling, the function has not perform well. The argument is proven by the fact proving that there are still many fishermen in Lampulo village who are not yet registered as members of the insurance recipient, as well as the number of regularly fishermen who do not yet have a fisherman membership card. It can be concluded that the work of self-service organizations in this case still requires motivation from those who are in institutional externalities.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a fundamental challenge to tourism, that is mobility. While research on tourism intention have been growing since the beginning of the pandemic, there was a lack of attention on discussion about people who face less opportunity for tourism due to their vulnerable physical conditions or people at-risk to COVID-19. Therefore, this research purported to reveal the influence of tourism constraints on tourism intention of people categorized as physically vulnerable to COVID-19 in the new normal era. Data collection was conducted through an online survey to citizens of Jakarta belonging to middle age and elderly group from end of June to September 2021. Multiple regression analysis with SPSS is used to test the relationship between tourism constraints and tourism intention, and analyze data of 337 respondents. The study showed that tourism intention of people at-risk from COVID-19 can be classified as high with intrapersonal constraints being the only significant constraints. This implies that the significant effect of intrapersonal constraints is not powerful enough to reduce the tourism intention of people susceptible to COVID-19.

Abstract

Sustainable Tourism Development (STD) consists of three dimensions known as environment, economic and social. Although these three dimensions influence each other and cannot stand on their own, and are assumed to be supportive to each other and compatible. However, most studies focus on the environmental and economic dimensions. The social dimension gains less attention and is difficult to attain and operationalize. In order to implement a balanced and successful STD, it needs to be supported by all the tourism stakeholder, including the tourist itself. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the social dimension of STDs and also tourist behavior regarding their social conscious. However, the discussions and understanding of social dimension in STD and socially conscious behavior are still limited. This study aims to define a clear understanding and definition of social dimension of STD which in this study is referred as social sustainability and also a socially conscious tourist. Starting with exploring the aspect of social dimensions formulation and exploring clear definitions of social dimensions of STD's and socially conscious tourist. This study is an exploratory study that aims to explore the boundaries of social dimension of STD and to develop a construct of socially responsible tourist. This study is a qualitative approaches, which includes systematic literature review and Delphi method to obtain expert judgment to gather social dimension aspects of sustainable development, especially in STD. The results of this study are social dimension’s aspects of STD, an understanding of social sustainability and socially conscious tourist in STD.

Abstract

Halal tourism is becoming increasingly popular among Muslim tourists interested in international travel. Internationally, Muslim tourists who travel a lot are young tourists, on average 24 years old, and have a good education. Statistically, Generation Z dominates travel in Indonesia. Generation Z is a generation born between 1993-2012 (30-11 years old) and known as "digital natives," which means they quickly adapt to digital technologies and are always connected to the internet and social networks. Understanding the behavior of Generation Z has never been separated from using smartphones. So, understanding the behavior of generation Z travelers in using smartphones on the go is important because they are a potential market in the development of the halal tourism industry in the next 10-15 years. This study focuses on understanding the influence of smartphone digital technology on the behavior of generation Z Muslim tourists in Indonesia when traveling in tourist destinations. This study uses an interpretive phenomenological analysis methodology by conducting in-depth interviews and observations of Gen-Z Muslim travelers using smartphones. The data obtained is then processed using NVIVO software. Data analysis used six stages of interpretive phenomenological analysis. The results in the study will show the superordinate theme that arises from the process of interpreting the experiences of the participants with evidence as presented by the participants.
