Abstract

The mangrove forest is a forest type that grows in tidal areas (especially in the sheltered beach, lagoons, and estuaries) that vegetation communities tolerate high salinity. The mangrove forest ecosystem is a system consisting of organisms (vegetation, animals, and microorganisms) that interact with the system environment on a mangrove forest habitat. On the basis of this system, the mangrove ecosystem can be seen as a habitat for mangrove vegetation. The research was conducted in the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan. The research was conducted in the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan district of Lage, Poso Regency. This study lasted for 3 months starting from May to July 2014. The data collection technique using the line transect observation location. Based on the observation of terrestrial fauna species in the tourist area of mangrove forest in the village of Labuan, the three types of land fauna that fauna species of birds, reptiles fauna and fauna of invertebrates/insects. Tourist area of mangrove forest in Labuan village is dominated by the number of fauna species of birds (Aves). Species diversity index (H ') of 2. 4314 and evenness index (E) of 0.7080. need for attention and conservation efforts of the government to the location of the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan, see the condition of the area is damaged and not well maintained. Abstract

thing as an implication is the high endemicity because the eastern region of Indonesia consists of more clusters of small islands, making many species isolated and ultimately having to adjust to their habitat and environment. Association is the interdependence between species and other types. Both animals and plants from the simplest to the high-rise ones. The purpose of the study was to find out the types of birds and their associations found in the Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This research was conducted for 3 months, from April to June 2016. The method of data collection in this study included the collection of primary data and secondary data. In this study, the transect pathway method is used which is a method used in which the observer walks by following the direction and location of the center line of the transect slowly while recording the types of birds encountered, both directly (visually) and indirectly. This observation is done by determining the observation points as many as 10 points and placed on the left and right transect lines along the 500 meters. In this study one transect line was used. The Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency, there are 17 species of birds that are included in 11 families. there are 8 species of birds which are Sulawesi endemics found in the study site. To find out whether there are associations between the two types, a comparison between Chi-Square counts {X² count} with X² tables at the free degree = 1. Of the 17 species of birds found in the study location, 11 species are categorized as associations because they have x2 count values > 3.841 and there are 5 types of birds which are categorized as not associated because they have a value of x2 calculated <3.841.Keywords: Bird Association, Educational Forest, Bolano Lambunu

Abstract

Indonesia has a high diversity of birds. Indonesia is known as one of the places where the world's biodiversity is concentrated, so it has been dubbed "megadiversitycountry". One of the diverse groups of animals is birds. It is estimated that 17% of all bird species in the world exist in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to find out the similarities between bird communities in the Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve, Parigi Moutong Regency. The research method used is the path transect method. In this study, the habitats studied were primary forest, secondary forest, river and cultivation / plantation area. In the study using 1 transect in each habitat by repeating 4 times. The length of one transect line is 1,000 m. Observations were made during the active period of birds, namely in the morning at 06:00 - 10:00 WITA and in the afternoon at 15:30 - 18:00 WITA. The results of the study found 40 species of birds in four habitats namely Primary habitat, Secondary forest habitat, Cultivation Area / garden habitat, and riverside habitat, which are included in 21 families with a total number of birds is 168. In the study area there are three groups of habitat communities that are formed, namely the secondary forest group - the edge of the river - primary forest (10.47), the group of the edge of the river - primary-secondary (11.66) and the group of the edge of the river-primary-secondary-garden (14,63). Similarity index in four habitat types, namely riverbank habitat, garden habitat, secondary habitat and primary habitat that are compared, do not have similarities or are low (<50%).

Abstract

Birds are the fauna with extensive range of habibat, from lowlands to highlands, as well as various types of ecosystems, from natural to artificial ecosystems. In addition to their significant role in the the ecosystem balance, birds serve as an indicator of environmental changes. The aim of this study was to determine the level of the bird presence, species composition, and species diversity in the forest located at Lonca Villages, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. Line transects method was employed in the field study where the observers walk along the direction and center-line of the transect steadily and record occurences of the entire birds. Observations were performed at 06:00-09:00 a.m. (Central Indonesian Time/Wita) and 03:30-06:00 p.m. (Central Indonesian Time/Wita). Observations were replicated 4 (four) times. Based on the results of measurement, there were 27 species of birds representing 16 families with a number of individuals of 142 birds in two different habitat types. More results showed the species composition in the study area. Index of species diversity in open habitat was H’=2,8881 and in closed habitat was H’=2,8070, t-test result of species diversity index between those habitat types was similar. Sulawesi hornbill (Rhyticeros cassidix), Black-crowned White-eye (Zosterops atrifrons), and Hair-crested Drongo (Dicrurus hottentottus) dominate the two habitat types.
