Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that requires long-term and regular treatment. Non-adherence to anti-tuberculosis medication (ATM) can lead to treatment failure, relapse, and drug resistance; there are still patients who do not complete their treatment or skip doses during treatment. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes and medication adherence among tuberculosis patients in the service area of the Mentok Community Health Center, West Bangka Regency, in 2026. Methods: This study employed a quantitative, analytical, observational method with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 60 tuberculosis patients, all of whom were included as the sample using total sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of α = 0.05. Findings: There was a significant association between knowledge and medication adherence among tuberculosis patients (p-value: 0.005 < α = 0.05), and a significant association between attitude and medication adherence among tuberculosis patients (p-value: 0.026 < α = 0.05). Implications: There is a relationship between knowledge and attitude and medication adherence among tuberculosis patients. Community health centers are encouraged to improve education, treatment monitoring, family support, and ease of access to health services for patients.
