Through the Case Method and Team Based Project in mechanics lectures, science teacher candidates are expected to be able to master the nature of mechanics. The purpose of this study was to analyse the readiness and constraints of the implementation of case method and team-based project in mechanics courses in the Science Education Study Program. Survey method is applied to obtain data triangulation to achieve the stated research objectives. The results of this research indicate that lecturers' comprehension is still diverse regarding the definition and syntax of the case method and team-based project. In its implementation, the case method is following the theory and expectations in the mechanic's lectures contained in the curriculum documents. Meanwhile, team-based projects still need improvement and development in their application to mechanics’ course. The skills trained in mechanics course are still limited to critical thinking skills, communication, and collaboration, while Learning Outcome (LO) are also set to train creative thinking skills and generic science skill. The learning model chosen and applied by the lecturers is problem-based learning and project-based learning following what is stated in the document of semester learning program. According to students experience during lectures there are still limited to direct instruction which is more experience deepening concepts and lots of discussions. The carrying capacity of the learning environment is quite good based on ICT but it is still dominated by Power Point Presentation and Virtual Lab Applications, while Coding Block and AR-VR have not yet been developed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competitiveness and factors influencing the export volume of Indonesian Arabica coffee (HS Code 0901.11.10) to Japan during the 2008–2023 period. The methods used include the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis to measure competitiveness and the Error Correction Model (ECM) to evaluate the effects of production, exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar, and international coffee prices on export volume. The findings indicate that Indonesian coffee has strong competitiveness in the Japanese market (RCA > 1). Coffee production has a positive and significant effect on export volume in both the short and long term. The exchange rate shows a significant negative impact in the long term but is insignificant in the short term. International coffee prices have a significant negative effect, reflecting Japan’s sensitivity to price changes. The ECM model reveals that short-term imbalances are significantly corrected within one period. Policy implications include enhancing coffee productivity, maintaining exchange rate stability, strengthening trade diplomacy aligned with quality standards, and diversifying export markets.

Abstract

This research intended to map indigenous knowledge of people in the frontier, outermost, and least developed regions or generally referred to as 3T (Terdepan/Frontier, Terluar/Outermost, Tertinggal/Least Developed) regions. This research employed a qualitative research approach through a descriptive method in which an experimental method was performed for mapping the indigenous knowledge. The target mapping area was Papua, Aceh, West Kalimantan, and East Nusa Tenggara. Geographical position, research funding, and time allocation became the main considerations in selecting these areas. The four 3T regions are said to be the most appropriate as the locals remain to believe and apply their indigenous knowledge. The mapping results found that several indigenous knowledge is potentially tested scientifically in labs, they are Bakar Batu, Tanam Sasi, and Honai in Papua; Rumoh Aceh and Batu Nisan in Aceh; Berjuluk Baatutuk and Betang Radang in West Kalimantan; and Ebang and Welang in East Nusa Tenggara. There are numerous traditions found in the research location, yet those that do not have met the criteria of scientific objects, such as myths and legends, were not included. The mapping results were followed by confirming the opinions of prospective science teachers obtained by 85 % of 54 students who were interested in this finding as a study of ethnocentric The research concluded that the indigenous knowledge of people in 3T regions are unique and required to be further examined scientifically and could be reviewed as a source for Ethnoscience course. This research recommendation is that in science learning, especially in the 3T region should pay attention to efforts to change traditional knowledge into scientific knowledge through integrating the mapping of indigenous knowledge as the content of ethnoscience.

Abstract

Linear air track is often used in physics learning for linear motion experiments because it can reduce friction between objects with trajectories. However,  the use of air tracks for motion experiments in schools often does not care about aspects of air drag, so the purpose of this study is to calculate the air friction contained in the air track and as an offer of enrichment experiments at senior high school. The research method used is an experimental method that uses a set of air track experimental devices consisting of trajectors, carts, blower, and time counters with light sensors. Cart objects with a mass of 120.02 gram is given the initial velocity variation 12.272 cm/s, 16.286 cm/s and 24.599 cm/s. Then the time recorded when the cart crosses the distance of 10 cm to 110 cm at intervals of 10 cm. This experiment is conducted in the Integrated Science Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang. The second Newton law has been derived to obtain a special exponential function, so the relation between distance and time is obtained. The non-linear relation between distance and time shows the effect of air drag. Then, fitting the graph of the distance and time relation so that the air drag constants obtained are (10.6 ± 0.1) gram/s, (10.6 ± 0.2) gram/s, and (11.1 ± 0.2) gram/s. The results of the air drag constants obtained can be additional data as a factor affecting experiments using linear air track and can be enrichment experiments at senior high school laboratory.
