Abstract

Through an integrated curriculum, it is expected that the fulfillment of a maximum standard of learning for students' problems while learning, the integrated curriculum will determine the content, processes, materials, and learning materials that teachers do to students in the classroom. Students who have problems are expected to be able to overcome the problem both those who lack achievement and are left behind, the evaluation carried out is also expected to be able to measure the ability of students to improve learning that has been done, besides it can be compared between one school to another with an evaluation. So we need a standard-based approach and an integrated curriculum, the second offers several strategies in developing an integrated curriculum that has been proven in its implementation, thirdly to validate an integrated curriculum by offering examples of integrated curricula that have proven to be successful.

Abstract

In today's digital era, education is required to prepare students with critical and creative thinking skills as a provision to face real challenges. However, learning practices at MIN 2 Surabaya City are still dominant using a conventional teacher-centered approach, so student participation and creativity are low. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the project based learning (PJBL) model in improving the critical thinking skills and creativity of grade IV students. The research method used was qualitative descriptive through observation and in-depth interviews with homeroom teachers and four students of grade IV A. The results of the study showed that PJBL was able to train students' critical thinking skills through problem-solving activities and stimulate creativity through real projects such as making dioramas and pop-up books. Despite the constraints of limited time and teacher experience, project-based learning (PJBL) has been proven to encourage more innovative, contextual, and relevant learning to the demands of the 21st century. This study confirms that PJBL deserves to be implemented more widely at the basic education level.

Abstract

This study addresses two major issues in urban communities: the administrative and less impactful nature of university internship programs, and the absence of systematic alternative learning spaces to support elementary students facing academic difficulties at home. In urban contexts marked by limited parental time, economic pressure, and weak domestic academic assistance, community-based learning institutions are increasingly necessary. This research analyzes the institutionalization process of the “Urban Islamic After-School Lab” model as an alternative learning space integrating educational support, literacy enhancement, and Islamic values formation in Surabaya. Using action research, the study involved fourth- and fifth-grade students in Kelurahan Babad Jerawat. The research followed five stages: initial assessment, problem identification, focus group discussion, corrective action, and final assessment. The intervention emphasized reading literacy and religious literacy as foundational aspects of academic and moral development. Findings indicate that the model improved students’ literacy outcomes and transformed internships into structured social praxis, strengthening university–community engagement and revitalizing higher education’s social function in urban settings.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse is a lignocellulosic waste that has significant potential as a cellulose source for the development of environmentally friendly bioplastics. This study aims to This study aimed to evaluate the potential of cellulose derived from sugarcane bagasse as a bioplastic material for drug capsule applications.. The research method includes the isolation of sugarcane bagasse into cellulose and the production of bioplastics. The bioplastics were prepared in two formulations, namely P1 (without cellulose) and P2 (with the addition of sugarcane bagasse cellulose), using chitosan as the polymer matrix and glycerol as a plasticizer. Characterization was conducted through morphological analysis, mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation), density, thickness, water absorption, and biodegradability tests. Statistical analysis using an independent samples t-test revealed significant differences between formulations. The tensile strength of P2 (39.2 MPa) was significantly higher than P1 (21.5 MPa) (t = 13.7, p < 0.001), while elongation significantly decreased from 27.58% in P1 to 17.32% in P2 (t = 10.9, p < 0.001). Density and thickness also increased significantly in P2 (0.8444 g/cm³ and 0.276 mm) compared to P1 (0.5396 g/cm³ and 0.118 mm) (t = 10.5 and 18.3; p < 0.001), indicating a more compact film structure. In contrast, water absorption showed no significant difference between treatments (t = 0.10, p = 0.92), and both samples exhibited similar biodegradation times of approximately four days (t = 0.00, p = 1.00). These result demonstrate that cellulose incorporation improves mechanical strength and structural compactness without reducing biodegradability. Cellulose-based bioplastic derived from sugarcane bagasse has the potential to be developed as an alternative soft capsule material in environmentally friendly drug delivery systems, serving as a substitute for gelatin-based capsules in the pharmaceutical industry.
