Introduction: Non-adherence to self-care is often found in diabetes mellitus (DM) patients. Non-compliance in DM patients in performing self-care can affect the quality of life of patients. This study aimed to explain the relationship between self-care management and the quality of life of DM patients. Methods: This research design was analytically observational with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 80 respondents of DM patients treated at RSUD Ibnu Sina Gresik with a purposive sampling technique. They collected data using a questionnaire and statistical test of this study using the Spearman test. Results: The results are that the majority of self-care management is sufficient (67.5%) for as many as 54 people and good quality of life (86.2%) for as many as 69 people. The results of the correlation test using the spearman test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p-value <0.05), and the correlation coefficient value is positive (r=0.479), which means that there is a significant relationship between self-care management and the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus in RSUD Ibnu Sina Gresik. Conclusions: Improved self-care management is associated with improving the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus in RSUD Ibnu Sina Gresik.

Introduction: Urinary incontinence is a comorbid condition that often occurs in post TURP clients. Low urinary incontinence scores were found in post TURP clients who did Kegel exercises. The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of Kegel exercise on urinary incontinence, and quality of life in post- TURP clients. Methods: The study design was a true experiment pre-post test control group design. The sample size was 32 people who were selected by systematic random sampling, consisting of 16 people in the control group and 16 people in the group treatment. The independent variable in this study was Kegel exercise and the dependent variable was quality of life. Data were collected using a quality of life questionnaire with WHOQOL-BREF. Inferential analysis used statistical t-test (Independent t-Test and Paired t-Test), MANOVA with a significance level of α < 0.05. Results: The results showed that: Kegel exercises improve quality of life scores of the significance level p = 0.045. Conclusion: Kegel exercise can build pubococcygeus muscle mass, improve blood circulation, and improve the bulbocavernosus and ischiocavernosus muscles, thereby reducing urinary incontinence, and quality of life for post TURP clients in a wider population by increasing the reach of the study population and increasing monitoring of client exercise

Introduction: Patient with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) will get a failure to breathing because of fluid accumulation in the lung. Patients with CKD will not be able to breathe normally, so the main problem that often occurs is an ineffective breathing pattern. This study aims to explore nursing care for patients with ineffective-breathing pattern in patient with CKD at Soegiri Lamongan hospital. Methods: The design of this research is qualitative with a case study, the methods of data collection through interviews, observations, physical examinations and documentation studies. The data obtained were analyzed by comparing case reviews and literature reviews. Results: The results of the problems for nursing diagnosis that arise are CKD with ineefective-breathing pattern. Interventions that are emphasized and carried out in the field in the case study are providing a semi-fowler/ fowler position, and maintaining oxygen therapy. Final evaluation of nursing diagnoses in patients with problems resolved and goals achieved according to the specified time criteria. Conclusions: The study indicated that ineefective breathing pattern can be solved by positioning a semi-fowler or half-sitting position, decrease fluid intake and correcting anemia. Suggestions for nurses to focus in developing science and technology to be applied to all nursing personnel in providing nursing care for ineffective breathing patterns for patients with chronic kidney disease.

Introduction: Patient safety remains a primary concern in healthcare, focusing on the prevention of medical errors and adverse side effects affecting patients. Despite numerous efforts to improve patient safety, incidents continue to occur, resulting in significant harm to patients. One critical factor in addressing this issue is the role of caring behaviors. Nurses' caring behaviors can serve as a strategy to enhance patient safety. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between nurses' caring behaviors and the implementation of patient safety protocols in the Emergency Department (ED) of Dr. Soegiri Lamongan Hospital. Methods: A correlational research design was employed using a cross-sectional approach. The study involved 28 nurses working in the Emergency Room. The instruments used included the CBI-24 (Caring Behavior Inventory) and a patient safety implementation questionnaire based on the International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis (frequency distribution and percentage) and bivariate analysis (Coefficient of Contingency, with a p-value < 0.05). Results: The results showed that most nurses exhibited caring behaviors, with 18 respondents (64.3%) demonstrating these behaviors, and the majority had implemented patient safety protocols, with 21 respondents (75%) adhering to these measures. The coefficient of contingency test yielded a p-value of 0.023. Conclusions: A significant relationship was found between nurses' caring behaviors and the implementation of patient safety in the Emergency Department. This study highlights the critical role that nurses' caring behaviors play in enhancing patient safety. It is recommended that nurses continue to improve their caring behaviors and implement patient safety measures effectively. This approach will contribute to providing professional and cautious services, thereby improving the overall quality and safety of patient care.

Background: Chemotherapy is the primary treatment for breast cancer to prevent cancer progression, but health protocols, such as social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, hinder timely treatment. Although many qualitative studies have investigated the experiences of breast cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, few have explored the coping strategies of women undergoing chemotherapy during this time.Purpose: This study explored the coping strategies of women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological design was employed to explore the experiences of women living with breast cancer and their coping mechanisms. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants who met the following criteria: (1) women diagnosed with breast cancer who had chosen to undergo chemotherapy and (2) women attending chemotherapy sessions at the treatment center. Patients with a history of severe chemotherapy side effects were excluded from the study. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 25 participants, and transcripts were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Four key themes emerged from the data analysis, including (1) feeling the uncertainty of life, (2) emotional turbulence, (3) surviving under pressure, and (4) accepting the situation. Participants demonstrated positive adaptive coping strategies to manage the challenges of breast cancer and chemotherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Surviving and accepting conditions were identified as vital coping mechanisms that help women with breast cancer maintain their quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. These strategies play a crucial role in maintaining mental well-being amid uncertain and stressful circumstances.

Emergency cases requiring basic life support (BLS) are often found in the Emergency Department. Knowledge of BLS is very important for students, especially in the final year who are doing internships in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge of BLS in final year students of the Diploma 3 Nursing Study Program in Indonesia. This study used a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach. The sample of this study was 203 students taken using the cluster random sampling technique. The research variable was the level of knowledge of BLS. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that most students in Indonesia had a good level of knowledge of BLS of 73.8%. Regular simulations and exercises are expected to increase the confidence of students who already have good knowledge in carrying out BLS.
