Abstract

The reproductive biology and length-weight relationship of fourlined tonguesole, (Cynoglossus bilineatus Lacapede, 1802) were examined in the Mayangan Coast, West Java from May to November 2003. The objective research was describe some aspect reproductive such as sex ratio, spawning season, fecundity, and spawning type; and also describe length-weight relationship and condition factor. The total length (TL) of all observed specimens ranged from 80 to 369 mm. Sex ratio of males and females was 1.5:1. Fecundity of this species was estimated at between 2.323 and 225.557 eggs per individual. C. bilineatus is an asynchronous, partial spawner, with are spawning peaks in June and September (for males), July and October (for females). Negative allometric was established in the length-weight relationship (b=2.859). Condition was estimated at between 0.89 and 1.06 for males and 0.84-1.08 for females.

Abstract

Scalloped perchlet (Ambassis nalua) is a small, transparent, and abundant species inhabit in Pabean Bay, Indramayu. The present study aims to describes oosit development stages histologically and determine the spawning type of the Scalloped perchlet. Scalloped perchlet obtained from fishermen in Pabean bay, then gonads preserved by using a solution of BNF (Buffer Neutral Formalin). The gonadal histology of oosit made by HE staining method, then observed in microscope ca-mera. The development of the oocytes was classified into four stages i.e initial growth stage (the chromatin of the nucleus and perinuclear), cortical alveoli, vitellogenesis, and ripe. Based on the stages of oocytes, scalloped perchlet categorized as partial spawner. Abstrak Ikan seriding (Ambassis nalua) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan di perairan Teluk Pabean, Indramayu yang berukuran kecil, transparan dan tersedia dalam jumlah melimpah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perkembangan sel telur secara histologis dan menentukan tipe pemijahan ikan seriding. Ikan seriding didapatkan dari hasil tangkapan nelayan di Teluk Pabean, kemudian gonad contoh diawetkan dengan menggunakan larutan BNF (Buffer Neutral Formalin). Preparat histo-logis sel telur dibuat dengan metode pewarnaan HE, kemudian diamati dibawah mikroskop berkamera. Tahapan perkembangan oosit pada ikan seriding yaitu kromatin nukleus dan perinuklear (tahap pertumbuhan awal), kortikal alveoli, vitelo-genesis, dan pematangan. Tahapan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ikan seriding merupakan tipe ikan yang memijah secara bertahap.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to identify the diet and composition item as well as niche breadth and niche overlap of mullet in Pabean Bay. Fish sampling was carried out from July to December 2016 using trap nets and gill nets. Data analysis including preponderance index, niche breadth, and niche overlap. Chelon subviridis and Moolgarda engeli are two species of mullet that much found in Pabean Bay. The size of body length C. subviridis observed on ranged of 73,34-185,72 mm with a weight of 8,23-115,50 g and M. engeli ranged of 67,51-160,00 mm with a weight of 6,91-96,70 g. Food menu of mullet consists of three groups, namely perifiton, larvae of marine organism, and detritus. Perifiton from Bacillariophyceae was a main diet, particularly Pleurosigma (35,81) in C. subviridis and Nitzschia (27,89) in M. engeli. Changed in composition of each item of diet occurred on any length size group during the observation. C. subviridis and M. engeli have a wide niche breadth with the value were 5,995 and 5,780. Niche breadth of each length group was different. Information on niche breadth indicated the adaptation of mullet to against the availability of diet in the water. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan komposisi serta luas dan tumpang tindih relung makanan ikan belanak di Teluk Pabean. Pengambilan contoh ikan dilakukan pada Juli hingga Desember 2016 dengan menggu-nakan alat tangkap sero dan jaring insang. Analisis data meliputi indeks bagian terbesar serta luas dan tumpang tindih relung makanan. Dua jenis ikan belanak, Chelon subviridis dan Moolgarda engeli, merupakan spesies yang banyak ditemukan di Teluk Pabean. Ukuran panjang tubuh C. subviridis yang diamati berkisar 73,34-185,72 mm dengan bobot 8,23-115,50 g dan panjang tubuh M. engeli berkisar 67,51-160,00 mm dengan bobot 6,91-96,70 g. Menu ma-kanan ikan belanak terdiri atas tiga kelompok besar, yaitu perifiton, larva organisme, dan detritus. Perifiton dari kelas Bacillariophyceae menjadi kelompok makanan yang banyak dimanfaatkan, khususnya Pleurosigma (35,81) oleh C. subviridis dan Nitzschia (27,89) oleh M. engeli. Perubahan komposisi jenis makanan terjadi pada setiap kelompok ukuran ikan. C. subviridis dan M. engeli memiliki relung makanan yang luas dengan nilai luas relung berturut-turut 5,995 dan 5,780. Luas relung makanan pada setiap kelompok ukuran ikan berbeda. Informasi mengenai luas relung makanan dapat menunjukkan adaptasi ikan belanak terhadap ketersediaan makanan di perairan.

Abstract

Changes in habitat quality and resource availability associated with seasonal variation in hydrology strongly influences ecological interactions. The study was conducted from July to December 2007 which aiming to described prey item of Trichogaster leerii in peatswamp forest district of Dadahup, Central Kalimantan based on temporal variation (low and high water period). Each month, research zone, and size classes; the stomach contents on consisted predominantly of periphyton, such as Diatoma; Fragillaria; Nitzschia; Navicula; and Tabellaria. Diatoma was the dominance in the stomach contents and prey-selectively ingested of T. leerii. Size classes-based, the diet of T. leerii was least similar during falling and rising water. Feeding strategy of T. leerii was generalized. No different of diet breadth during the low- and the high-water period. Diet overlap between pairs of size classes of T. leerii was high in low- and high water period.

Abstract

The research was conducted for six months from December 2003 to May 2004 to investigate the diet composition of chacunda gizzard shad, Anodontostoma chacunda. A total of 773 fishes were captured using gillnet with mesh sizes varying from 1.5 to 3 inches. The fish samples ranged 83–170 mm in length. For food habits analysis, the index of preponderance method was used. The dominant diets in stomach contents were Coscinodiscus, Pleurosigma and Rhizosolenia. There were no differences in diet composition between males and females among the sizes, and among the months. Based on index of electivity, the result showed that the fish preferred Coscinodiscus, Pleurosigma, Rhizosolenia, Gyrosigma, Melosira, Navicula, and Copepoda.

Abstract

The Pabean Bay is an estuary area that inhabited by many fish species such as javelin grunt (Pomadasys kaakan Cuvier, 1830). The purposes of this study were to identify food item and determine the feeding habit of the javelin grunt in The Pabean Bay, West Java. Fishes were collected monthly from June to December 2016 using gill nets and trap nets. Observation food is in vitro by conducting an examination of the stomach and the intestines of an example and refer on the books of the identification by Carpenter and Niem. Analysis of fish diet includes index of relative importance, niche breadth, and niche overlap. Fishes were grouped into three groups based on the size length. The result showed that the javelin grunt was crustacivore. Generally, the diet of javelin grunt consists of Acetes sp., Penaeus sp., Portunus sp., Clupeid, Ambassid, Sciaenid, Gobiid, Sillaginid, and unidentified organisms. Penaeus sp. was the main food and could be found on each size of group in monthly observation. The proportion of index of relative importance value was changed in regard of length size groups of A (41-85 mm: 12.105), B (86-130 mm: 13.804), and C (131-175 mm: 7.561). The niche breadth of javelin fish was higher in the larger ones and a high diet overlap among size groups was found. According to prey item and feeding habit, the javelin grunt can be classified as benthic crustacean feeder.

Abstract

A seagrass bed of Karang Congkak Island has been known as the nursery habitat for many marine fishes. The common silver-biddy (Gerres oyena) is one of the temporary resident fishes that inhabits seagrass beds of Karang Congkak Island before they migrate to their adult habitat to join the adult population. The aims of this research are to analyze the growth pattern, condition factor and food preferences of the common silver-biddy while they utilized the seagrass beds of Karang Congkak Island as their nursery ground. Sampling was conducted from March 2018 to March 2019 with 10 times frequency of sampling in total. Sample was towed using a beach seine net with 10x1 m in dimension and 3 mm mesh size. Parameters that were analyzed in this research were a length-weight relationship, condition factor, and food preferences. A total of 2762 juveniles of the common silver-biddy were collected and were classified into 10 length classes. The results showed that in general, the growth pattern of the common silver-biddy was positive allometric (b>3), although some months were isometric (b=3). The overall condition factor ranged from 0.87 – 2,05 and it fluctuated throughout the months. The diet which has the main role in determining the fish growth of the common silver-biddy was dominated by the group of copepods. The positive allometric growth pattern of the common silver-biddy and the high value of condition factor describe that seagrass ecosystem of Karang Congkak Island is a suitable nursery ground for the juveniles of the common silver-biddy. Abstrak Ekosistem lamun Pulau Karang Congkak merupakan habitat pengasuhan yuwana berbagai spesies ikan laut. Ikan kapas-kapas (Gerres oyena) merupakan salah satu ikan penghuni sementara lamun Pulau Karang Congkak sebelum akhirnya beruaya ke habitat induknya untuk bergabung dengan populasi ikan dewasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi yuwana ikan kapas-kapas selama menghuni perairan ekosistem lamun Pulau Karang Congkak. Penelitian dilakukan dari Maret 2018 sampai Maret 2019 dengan total frekuensi pengambilan sampel selama 10 bulan. Contoh ikan diambil dengan menarik pukat tarik pantai berdimensi 10 m x1 m dan mata jaring 3 mm. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah hubungan panjang-bobot ikan, faktor kondisi, dan preferensi makanan ikan. Selama penelitian terkumpul sebanyak 2765 yuwana ikan yang dapat dikelompokkan menjadi 10 kelompok kelas ukuran panjang. Pola pertumbuhan panjang ikan kapas-kapassecara keseluruhan bertipe alometrik positif (b > 3), namun pada beberapa bulan tertentu ditemukan pola pertumbuhan isometrik (b=3). Faktor kondisi selama penelitian berkisar antara 0,87-2,05 dan berfluktuasi setiap bulan. Makanan ikan yang merupakan faktor penentu pertumbuhan ikan kapas-kapas didominasi oleh kelompok kopepoda. Pola pertumbuhan ikan kapas-kapas yang alometrik positif dengan faktor kondisi yang tinggi memberikan gambaran bahwa padang lamun Pulau Karang Congkak merupakan daerah asuhan yang baik bagi yuwana ikan kapas-kapas.

Abstract

The survival of fish in the waters is strongly influenced by the availability of food. The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of food for baronang fish and determine the selectivity of food for baronang fish in seagrass ecosystems in Tanjungpinang waters. This research was conducted in May 2023 at three stations, namely Sekatap Waters (ST I), Madong Waters (ST II), and Sebauk Waters (ST III). The research data collection method was carried out by purposive sampling. Fish samples were obtained from catches using 2-inch gill nets. Epiphyte sampling on seagrass leaves was carried out randomly. The total number of fish obtained at station I was 8 fish, 10 fish for station II, and 7 fish for station III. The catches at each station were dissected and collected from their digestive tract and then preserved for analysis in the laboratory. Analysis of the data used is the index of propenderance and electivity index. The results obtained in this study were the type of food for baronang fish (S. gutttatus) found in Tanjungpinang waters consisting of groups of microalgae from the class Bacillariophyceae (Flagilaria, Coscinodiscus, Diatoma, Nitzschia, Gyrosigma, Melosira, Rhizosolenia, and Rhabdonema), Euglenophyceae (Trachelomonas), Dinophyceae (Alexandrium), Chlorophyceae (Closteriopsis), Cyanophyceae (Oscilatoria and Audouinella), Crysophyceae (Vaucheria), Rhodophyceae (Polisiphonia and Bostrychia), group of nematodes from class Secernentea (Hirschmanniella) and Adenophorea (Anaplectus), group of crustaceans from class Branchiopoda (Diaphanosoma), shrimp leg pieces (unidentified), and detritus group. Baronang fish choosing food in their surroundings. Kelangsungan hidup ikan di perairan sangat dipengaruhi oleh ketersediaan makanan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis jenis makanan ikan baronang dan menentukan pemilihan makanan ikan baronang pada ekosistem lamun di perairan Tanjungpinang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2023 pada tiga stasiun yaitu di Perairan Sekatap (ST I), Perairan Madong (ST II), dan Perairan Sebauk (ST III). Metode pengambilan data penelitian dilakukan secara purpossive sampling. Sampel ikan diperoleh dari hasil tangkapan menggunakan jaring insang berukuran 2 inchi. Pengambilan epifit pada daun lamun dilakukan secara acak. Total jumlah ikan yang diperoleh pada stasiun I yaitu 8 ekor, stasiun II 10 ekor, dan stasiun III 7 ekor. Hasil tangkapan pada masing-masing stasiun dibedah dan mengambil saluran pencernaannya lalu diawetkan untuk dianalisis di laboratorium. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu Index of propenderance dan electivity index. Adapun hasil yang didapatkan pada penelitian ini yaitu jenis makanan ikan baronang (S. gutttatus) yang ditemukan di perairan Tanjungpinang terdiri kelompok mikroalga dari kelas Bacillariophyceae (Flagilaria, Coscinodiscus, Diatoma, Nitzschia, Gyrosigma, Melosira, Rhizosolenia, dan Rhabdonema), Euglenophyceae (Trachelomonas), Dinophyceae (Alexandrium), Chlorophyceae (Closteriopsis), Cyanophyceae (Oscilatoria dan Audouinella), Crysophyceae (Vaucheria), Rhodophyceae (Polisiphonia dan Bostrychia), Kelompok nematoda dari kelas Secernentea (Hirschmanniella) dan Adenophorea (Anaplectus), Kelompok crustacea dari kelas Branchiopoda (Diaphanosoma), potongan kaki udang (tidak teridentifikasi), dan Kelompok detritus. Ikan baronang memilih makanan yang ada di lingkungannya.

Abstract

Management of  blue swimming crab resources requires information about the condition of the  blue swimming crab  to determine the size that can be caught. The aim of this research is to analyze the structure of carapace width, gonad maturity level, and condition factors of  blue swimming crab  in the waters of Kampung Madong, Tanjungpinang City. The sampling point uses a purposive sampling method. Data collection used the census method. Fishing equipment used 60 bento traps. The results showed that 149 blue swimming crab  samples were caught, consisting of 60 males and 89 females. The distribution of carapace width sizes on average is 95 - 103 mm which dominates. The growth coefficient for male blue swimming crab  is the b value of 1.47 and for females the b value is 1.57, the dominant TKG is TKG II. The condition factor value is in the slightly flat category.

Abstract

Pola pertumbuhan ikan yang ditentukan melalui hubungan panjang-bobotnya merupakan suatu pendekatan yang banyak diterapkan dalam pengelolaan perikanan dan dapat digunakan dalam menentukan kondisi ikan. Hubungan panjang-bobot dan faktor kondisi ikan selangat dianalisis dari ikan contoh yang dikumpulkan dari nelayan pada Juni hingga Agustus 2022 di Pantai Senggarang, Tanjungpinang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menentukan pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi ikan selangat. Sebanyak 422 ekor ikan contoh diukur panjang baku (mm) dan ditimbang bobotnya (g). Hasil penelitian menunujukkan bahwa nilai b sebesar 3,04 yang mengindikasikan pola pertumbuhannya isometrik. Nilai faktor kondisi berkisar pada 0,84 hingga 1,04. Pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi tidak konstan, bervariasi musiman, berkait dengan banyak faktor seperti siklus reproduksi, ketersediaan makanan, dan faktor lingkungan dan habitatnya.
