Abstract

Paradigm of education requires a better change in students’ behavior. To challenge these problems, the improvement way of learning is needed. Inquiry method is associated to improve student learning outcomes and activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of student learning outcomes and activities that is learned between the inquiry method and conventional learning. The population of this study was all students from five classes in grade VII MTsN Bakti Pidie City academic year of 2010/2011. The samples were randomly selected (random sampling) with VII2 grade students as the experimental group and VII4 grade students as a control group. The data was collected through paper and pencil test: pretest and posttest and non-test through observation sheet. The data is analyzed using t-test, moreover student activities were analyzed by percentage formula. The analysis of data shows t count= 3.80 and ttable = 2.64, it is indicated that the student learning outcomes by methods of inquiry is significantly different from student learning outcomes with conventional methods. Students teaching by Inquiry learning are more active than students teaching by conventional learning.

Abstract

The study of the quality of water of Krueng (River) Bale in Factory Environment Lafarge Cement Indonesia (LCI) in Lhoknga Aceh Besar according to benthos biodiversity was aimed to determine the species of benthos and water quality of Krueng Bale according to benthos diversity. The study area was divided into four locations that were the upstream of the tunnel (Location 1), bridge area at the south (Location 2), branch of the river area (Location 3), and the downstream of the two creeks. The study was done from April to June 2012. The method was survey and destructive sampling. The species of benthos was analysed descriptivelly and the diversity was analysed by diversity index formula (H). The results showed that there were 20 species of benthos found in the area and the index of diversity was between 1.996 and 2.652. In brief,  River Bale is still suitable as the habitat of aquatic organisms.

Abstract

AbstrakTaman Hutan Raya Pocut Meurah Intan merupakan satu kawasan konservasi alam yang terdapat di Provinsi Aceh. Kawasan tersebut difungsikan sebagai tempat penelitian dan tempat pembelajaran, namun demikian kondisi ini telah berubah sejalan dengan tingginya aktivitas penduduk setempat seperti penebangan liar, alih fungsi hutan, dan pemburuan satwa yang berdampak terhadap populasi rangkong papan (Buceros bicornis). Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui populasi B. bicornis di Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan Provinsi Aceh. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan metode Variable Circular Plot (VCP). Analisis data dilakukan dengan menghitung kepadatan populasi B. bicornis di Tahura. Data vegetasi dan kondisi lingkungan ditampilkan dalam bentuk tabel dan gambar. Hasil penelitian teramati sebanyak 31 individu B. bicornis, dengan kepadatan populasi 1,6 individu/km2. Terdapat 27 spesies pohon dari 14 famili pohon yang merupakan pohon pakan, tempat mencari makan, dan tempat bersarang B. bicornis di Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan. Abstract Taman Hutan Raya Pocut Meurah Intan is a nature conservation area located in Aceh Province.  The area functioned as a place of research and learning, but the current condition has changed in line with the high activity of local residents such as illegal logging, forest conversion and hunting of animals that have an impact on the population of great hornbills (Buceros bicornis). This study aims to determine the population of the B. bicornis in Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan, Aceh Province. Research data collection using the Variable Circular Plot (VCP) Method.  Data analyzed was done by calculating the population of B. bicornis population in the Tahura.  Vegetation data and environmental conditions are displayed in tables and figures. The result was observed as many as 31 individual B. bicornis, with the population density of 1,6 ind/km2. There are 27 species of trees from 14 families which are forage trees, foraging grounds, and a place for B. bicornis nests in the Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang keanekaragaman Rhopalocera di pegunungan Mata Ie Kecamatan Darul Imarah Kabupaten Aceh Besar bertujuan untuk mengetahui indeks keanekaragaman Rhopalocera yang terdapat di pegunungan Mata Ie dan kawasan wisata Kecamatan Darul Imarah Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode transek area. Data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif. Analisis data indeks keanekaragaman dicari dengan menggunakan persaman Shannon Wienner. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 26 spesies Rhopalocera yang tergolong kedalam, 1 ordo dan 6 famili yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah famili Nympalidae dengan jumlah 9 spesies. Spesies yang paling banyak ditangkap adalah Colias phiodice dan Danaus plexipples yang masing-masing berjumlah 10 spesies. Indeks Keanekaragaman Rhopalocera tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun III dengan nilai 2,642, sedangkan indeks keanekaragaman terendah terdapat pada stasiun II dengan nilai 1,468. Kata Kunci: Keanekaragaman, Rhapalocera, Pegunungan Mata Ie Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Data collected by using transect area. Data were analyzed by descriptive. Analysis of diversity index data found using the equation Shannon Wienner, and the similarity index found using equation Sorensen. The results were obtained 26 species were classified into Rhopalocera, 1 orders and 6 families are most commonly found are family Nympalidae the number 9 species. The most abundant species caught are Colias phiodice and Danaus plexipples each totaled 10 species. Rhopalocera diversity index is highest at the third station with a value of 2.642 , while the lowest diversity index are at station II with a value of 1.468. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis burung pada perkebunan kopi di Kecamatan Bener Kelipah Kabupaten Bener Meriah Provinsi Aceh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode titik hitung dengan metode line transek. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah burung yang terdapat diseluruh lokasi penelitian, sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah burung yang terdapat pada setiap titik pengamatan. Pengamatannya dilakukan dengan cara melakukan pencatatan jenis burung pada setiap titik pengamatan selama 20 menit. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus Shannon-Wiener. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; jumlah jenis burung yang terdapat pada perkebunan kopi di Kecamatan Bener Kelipah Kabupaten Bener Meriah adalah 12 jenis burung dari 9 familia. Keanekaragaman jenis burung pada perkebunan kopi di Kecamatan Bener Kelipah Kabupaten Bener Meriah tergolong rendah. Hal tersebut ditandai dengan indeks keanekaragaman burung Ĥ= 1, 1958. Melihat keanekaragaman jenis burung yang terdapat di kawasan Kecamatan Bener Kelipah Kabupaten Bener Meriah Provinsi Aceh tergolong rendah, maka perlu dilakukan upaya konservasi dan revegatasi pada kawasan perkebunan kopi sehingga kondisi vegetasi tumbuhan pada kawasan tersebut lebih heterogen sehingga dapat memperbaiki kondisi keanekaragaman burung pada kawasan tersebut. Kata Kunci: Keanekaragaman burung, Perkebunan Kopi dan Kecamatan Bener Kelipah This study aimed at finding out the diversity of birds in coffee plantation in Bener Kelipah Sub district, Bener Meriah Regency of Aceh Province. This study used point counts and line transect method. The population of this study was all birds in the location of the study. The samples were birds found at the observation spots. Observation was conducted by recording all types of bird found at the observation spots for 20 minutes. Data were analyzed by using Shannon-Wiener Formula. The results of the study showed that there were 12 types of bird from 9 families in the coffee plantation of Bener Kelipah Sub district, Bener Meriah Regency. The diversity of birds in the area was in low category since the bird diversity index (Ĥ) was 1, 1958. Therefore, conservation and revegetation are needed in the coffee plantation in order to create more heterogenic vegetation in the area so that it will improve the diversity of birds there. Abstract

Mollusca is the second largest phylum of invertebrate animals that has high adaptability. One of Mollusca's habitats is the mangrove ecosystem in Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar. There were very little data regarding the type and diversity of Mollusca in the mangrove ecosystem area of Baitussalam Subdistrict, Aceh Besar, after the tsunami in 2004. A study is needed considering that the data can be used as a database and supporting reference for biodiversity material in schools. This study was carried out to; 1) Identifies the types of Mollusca in the mangrove ecosystem in Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar; 2) Determines the output of this study as a reference for supporting biodiversity learning; and 3) Finds out the feasibility of the output as supporting reference for biodiversity material. Data collection was performed by line transect and quadrant transect method with purposive sampling. Data was analyzed with qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the study revealed that there are 29 types of Mollusca consisting of Gastropods and Bivalves. The output is in the form of a national standard textbook that can be used as a reference for supporting biodiversity learning. The book feasibility test obtained a total score of 95.6%. The conclusion is that there are 29 types of Mollusca and the output is a national standard textbook that are very feasible to be recommended as a supporting reference for biodiversity material.

Abstract

Burung rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros) merupakan salah satu spesies burung dari familia Bucerotidae yang terdapat di Taman Hutan Raya Pocut Meurah Intan Provinsi Aceh. Tingginya laju deforestasi habitat dan pembukaan lahan di kawasan Taman Hutan Raya Pocut Meurah Intan akan memberi dampak negatif  dan mempercepat penurunan populasi burung rangkong badak. Penelitian tentang “Populasi Burung Rangkong Badak (Buceros rhinoceros) di Ekosistem Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan Provinsi Aceh” dilaksanakan pada bulan November  2016. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jumlah individu dan kepadatan populasi burung rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros) yang terdapat di Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode titik hitung yang dikombinasikan dengan transect quadrat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi langsung pada objek penelitian. Pengamatan dilakukan selama 6 hari mulai dari pukul 06.30 s.d 10.00 WIB, dan dilanjutkan sore hari dari pukul 16.00 s.d. 18.00 WIB. Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah jumlah individu dan kepadatan populasi burung rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros).  Analisis data dilakukan dengan menghitung kepadatan populasi burung rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros) menggunakan formula kepadatan populasi Eisenberg (1981). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah burung rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros) yang terdapat di Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan berjumlah 14 individu. Kepadatan populasi rangkong badak (Buceros rhinoceros) di Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan yaitu 1,4 individu/Km2.

Abstract

Lhoknga subdistrict is an area that has a habitat for many species of fauna, including birds. References about species of birds in some habitats are still very limited. Therefore, it is necessary to make a research on bird species in several types of habitat in the district of Lhoknga. The aim of the research is to figure out birds species in several types of habitats in the Lhoknga subdistrict. The data were collected by using the point count method and line transects. The results showed that there were 39 species of birds from 21 families found in Lhoknga district. Based on the PP. No. 07 of 1999, it was found that there were 14 species of protected birds in Lhoknga subdistrict.

Abstract

A study on the inventory of types of plants used for traditional medicine in South Kluet Subdistrict has been conducted. It aimed to find out the types of plants used as traditional medicine in South Kluet subdistrict. The data were collected by using survey and interview method. The data were analyzed by using qualitative analytic by displaying the form of tables and drawings with local name and scientific name of plants. The results showed that there were 56 species of plants from 34 families were used as medicinal plants in South Kluet subdistrict area. These plants are used by the community to treat and prevent diseases, both internal and external diseases such as fever, cough, headache, stomach pain, colds, seizures and itching of the skin. The types of plants that are often used for medicine are crown plants of gods, sambiloto, god leaves, bandotan, jeringau, and other plant species from familia of Zingiberraceae.

Abstract

This research is motivated by efforts to improve the quality of graduates of the Biology Education Departement in the management and implementation of practicum in schools. The purpose of this research is to describe the ability of PBL alumni teachers in managing and implementing practicum. The method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative which provides a careful description of the alumni's ability to manage and carry out practicum. The steps of data collection were questionnaires, observations and documentation studies. The technique used to analyze the data is a descriptive technique with percentages. The results of the study on the ability of the alumni of the Biology Education Study Program in managing practicum showed the following: (1) The planning of the laboratory work program (53.33%) was declared good; (2) Laboratory organization was stated to be very good (33.33%) (3) The implementation of the laboratory work program (46.66%) was stated to be very good; and (4) the supervision and evaluation of the laboratory work program (26.66%) was stated to be very good. While the ability of alumni teachers in carrying out practicum is in the good category (75.3%). Teachers play an important role in the management and implementation of effective practicum
