Abstract

As an educational institution, implementing all activities held by Islamic boarding schools is close to the teachings of the Islamic religion. Students who choose to live in Islamic boarding schools experience what is called academic procrastination behavior. Academic procrastination is a form of procrastination generally carried out in academic areas, such as assignments at school or assignments in study courses so it can be academic procrastination. Students' weak self-control causes academic procrastination. This research aims to determine how students' self-control influences the procrastination behavior of students at Al-Khoiriyah Islamic Middle School. In other words, this research wants to know whether the self-control variable is a variable that plays a positive or negative role in influencing academic procrastination. This type of research is causal-comparative. The population of this study was 122 students. Purposive sampling was used as a sampling technique in this study, with the criteria being junior high school students living in Islamic boarding schools, with a total of 66 students. Meanwhile, the self-control and academic procrastination scales were used as data collection methods to test the hypothesis using a simple regression test. From data processing, significant results were obtained at 0.000<0.05, with a regression coefficient of -0.342 and a value = 0.378. Equal to 37.8%, while other variables influence 61.5%. So, the results of this research show that self-control plays a significant role and negatively influences the academic procrastination behavior of Al-Khoiriyah Islamic Middle School students who live in Islamic boarding schools.   Keywords: Self-control, Academic Procrastination, Students, School, Behavior

Abstract

Subjective well-being is a critical aspect that influences the quality of life and performance of teachers, particularly honorary teachers who face financial challenges and limited career opportunities. One key factor that can enhance subjective well-being is gratitude, a positive emotion that fosters appreciation for life and the blessings received. This study aims to analyze the influence of gratitude on the subjective well-being of honorary teachers in Pakel District. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 147 teachers as the sample, selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments included a gratitude scale and a subjective well-being scale, both measured using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that gratitude has a positive and significant influence on subjective well-being (R²=52.1%; p<0.05). This finding suggests that higher levels of gratitude correspond to better subjective well-being among teachers. However, 47.9% of the variation in subjective well-being is influenced by other factors, such as social support, working conditions, and demographic characteristics. This study highlights the importance of fostering gratitude as a strategy to improve the subjective well-being of teachers, particularly honorary teachers.

The risk of the covid-19 virus, the uncertainty of conditions, discrimination and social isolation experienced by survivors, are factors that cause anxiety in covid-19 survivors.  The effects of emerging anxiety can be mitigated by resilience. Survivors need resilience to help individuals overcome difficulties during the covid-19 pandemic.  The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with an incidental sampling design, and a sample size of participant was 138 138 covid-19 survivors. The research instrument used resilience scale and anxiety scale in the form of google forms. The research results show that the F value equal with 52.784, 0.000 smaller than 0.05, which indicates there is significant role of resilience toward anxiety of covid-19 survivors. The role of resilience toward anxiety is 28%, the remaining 72% is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic affected the level of individual flourishing, including students. However, research on flourishing with grit and gratitude as predictors still needs to be more explored. This study aims to determine the role of grit and gratitude towards flourishing in post-pandemic students. Voluntary convenience sampling was used to obtain respondents (N = 643 active students in the even semester 2021-2022). Data retrieval uses the grit scale, gratitude scale, and flourishing scale. Data analysis using multiple regression analysis obtained the result of the calculated F value of 490.061 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). So, the variables grit and gratitude are predictors of flourishing variables. The effective contribution in the R Square column shows a figure of 0.605 or 60.5%. This means that the grit and gratitude variables contribute effectively to the flourishing intention variable by 60.5%. While other variables outside this study influenced the remaining 39.5%. They are partially showing that the most critical role in student flourishing in this study was grit (36.5%) compared to gratitude (24%). This study suggests that those who have higher levels of grit and gratitude will be able to maximize their abilities to obtain a quality and prosperous life, have positive emotions, and good study engagement.
