Abstract

Coffee is one of Indonesia’s most significant agricultural commodities, yet post-harvest handling among smallholder farmers remains suboptimal. This community service program aimed to empower coffee farmers in Sukasari, Mount Manglayang, West Java, by introducing post-harvest storage practices that comply with the Indonesian National Standards (SNI). The program was conducted in July 2025 through a combination of training, demonstration, and participatory approaches with farmer groups. Pre-surveys revealed that more than 70% of farmers stored coffee beans using traditional methods, resulting in quality degradation and low market value. The intervention included training sessions, technical demonstrations on the use of simple storage racks, and the introduction of tools such as moisture meters and thermohygrometers. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in farmers’ knowledge, with post-test scores showing more than 40% increase compared to pre-tests. Farmers were also actively involved in drafting a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for coffee storage, which is now used as a reference by their cooperatives. The findings highlight the importance of participatory capacity building in enhancing product quality, ensuring better market access, and aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goals 1 (No Poverty), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Abstract

Financial inclusion plays a crucial role in improving the economic resilience of smallholder farmers, particularly in rural areas with limited access to formal financial services. This community engagement program aimed to enhance financial literacy and promote fintech adoption among coffee farmers in Lembang. The initiative included structured training sessions, fintech demonstrations, and collaboration with agricultural cooperatives to ensure sustainable financial education. The results indicated a significant improvement in farmers’ understanding of financial management, budgeting, and digital financial tools. Many participants successfully adopted mobile banking, digital payments, and fintech-based lending solutions, reducing their reliance on informal credit sources. The involvement of cooperatives facilitated the dissemination of financial knowledge beyond the initial participants, contributing to long-term sustainability. However, challenges such as digital literacy gaps among older farmers and limited internet infrastructure in remote areas were identified as barriers to widespread fintech adoption. To address these issues, continuous financial literacy programs, mentorship initiatives, and infrastructure improvements are recommended. This study highlights the potential of fintech solutions in bridging financial access gaps and empowering rural farmers with better financial decision-making capabilities. Future initiatives should focus on expanding fintech services to include agricultural insurance and investment options, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to financial inclusion in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Objectives: The objective of this study is to predict and analyze the mediating role of digital transformation (DT) innovation capability (IC) and digital literacy (DL) on the relationship between digital literacy (DL) and economic competitiveness (CP) of SMEs, by proposing a model construction.Methodology: The survey method was carried out by distributing research instruments to 99 respondents, the collected data was used to analyze the relationship between digital literacy, digital transformation, innovation ability, and competitiveness, and also used to test hypotheses. Evaluation of predictions through structural equation models with partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).Finding: DL directly has a significant positive effect on CP. DL has a significant positive influence on DT. DL has a significant positive effect on IC. DT has a significant positive effect on CP. DT has a significant positive effect on IC. DT and IC serially have a mediating effect on the effect of DL on CP, each moderately mediating effect. Conclusion: The results of model measurement and the results of the evaluation of model suitability show that model suitability is achieved and guarantees model suitability. The results of the structural model path analysis show that all hypotheses are accepted, DT and IC serially have a mediating effect on the influence of DL on the economic competitiveness of SMEs. The novelty findings of this research produce a model of the economic competitiveness of SMEs in the digital economy era, which involves DL, DT, and IC. The implication is that to improve the effectiveness of highly competitive businesses in this era, DL, digital competence and digital transformation capabilities of human resources (HRDT) among SMEs need to be carefully prepared, and IC must be improved.

Abstract

In the digital transformation era, technological resilience has become essential for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including Indonesia’s Batik industry, which must integrate technology to maintain competitiveness. However, many Batik MSMEs still face limited adoption of digital tools, resulting in declining performance and market reach. This study aims to analyze how entrepreneurial technology resilience mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial marketing and business performance in Batik MSMEs. A quantitative approach was used by distributing structured questionnaires to 383 Batik MSME owners in Indonesia. The study employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate measurement validity and test hypotheses among three constructs, entrepreneurial marketing, entrepreneurial technology resilience, and business performance. Findings reveal that entrepreneurial marketing significantly influences both entrepreneurial technology resilience and business performance. Furthermore, entrepreneurial technology resilience also positively affects business performance and partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial marketing and business performance, explaining 80.2% of the variance in the model. The results confirm that technological resilience is a crucial mechanism that strengthens the effectiveness of entrepreneurial marketing strategies. Strengthening digital capabilities and adaptive innovation allows Batik MSMEs to enhance operational efficiency, market expansion, and overall performance. Therefore, improving technological resilience should be prioritized as a strategic policy for sustaining the Batik industry’s competitiveness.
