Abstract

The purpose of the study is to picture the role of school principal’s organizational management in implementing organizational communication and reward done in Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu Junior High School. The research also enpicture how school’s management could lead to beneficial effect, including the implementation of Islamic value. The method used in this research is qualitative method with in-depth interview, documentation, and observation as the instruments. The research was analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and verification. (1) The research showed that interpersonal communication is the main pilar in building the communication, those are supported with the use of communication technology and social networking efficiently and effectively. (2) The reward given to members of Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu are in form of intrinsic and extrinsic. (3) Despite the school’s status as a non-Islamic private school, but the school able to implement the Islamic value both for school’s members and activities. It also lead to some achievement in Islamic field.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe implementation of the Distance Learning policy in all schools in Indonesia due to the Covid-19 outbreak has affected the teaching process. This quantitative research elucidates how EFL teaching and learning cope with the procedure. Two aspects will be illuminated in this research; the first is how schools and teachers prepare for online-based distance learning. The second is how the learning process conducts during the distance learning policy. This research collected data from 167 participants, including vice principals, EFL teachers, IT operators, and students from senior high schools in Palu, Central Sulawesi Provinces. The data was analyzed following the Illuminative Evaluation model by Parlett and Hamilton. The results found that schools and teachers are more well-equipped and prepared than the students. However, some students still face difficulties due to the absence of facilities and geographical situation. In the learning process, more flexible policies in class are still implemented by teachers, especially for students with limited access and lack of affective aspects. ABSTRAKPenerapan kebijakan Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh ke seluruh sekolah di Indonesia akibat wabah Covid-19 berdampak pada proses belajar mengajar. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menjelaskan bagaimana pengajaran dan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris harus beradaptasi dengan protocol kesehatan. Dua aspek yang disoroti dalam penelitian ini; pertama, bagaimana sekolah dan guru mempersiapkan pembelajaran jarak jauh berbasis online. Kedua, bagaimana proses pembelajaran dilakukan selama penerapan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan data dari 167 peserta, termasuk wakil kepala sekolah, guru Bahasa Inggris, operator IT, dan siswa dari sekolah menengah atas di Palu, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Data dianalisis dengan model Illuminative Evaluation oleh Parlett dan Hamilton. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa sekolah dan guru lebih siap dibandingkan dengan siswa. Beberapa siswa masih menghadapi kesulitan karena tidak adanya fasilitas dan situasi geografis. Dalam proses pembelajaran, guru masih harus memberikan kebijakan yang lebih fleksibel di kelas, terutama bagi siswa dengan akses yang terbatas dan aspek afektif yang kurang.

Abstract

This research elaborates readers’ independency to choose the reading material and its effectiveness towards reading comprehension. It highlights the correlation of students’ independency in deciding the reading material they are going to read and how it correlates with the reading comprehension. Reading is considered as one of the language skills with easier access to be developed, both in numbers and quality of the sources. The research is quasi-experimental research with 21 participants from reading class students in English Education Program of State Islamic University Datokarama Palu. During the six weeks meeting the students are divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. Treatment was given by giving students numbers of reading materials and let them choose and read freely. The data were then analysed quantitatively using independent sample t-test. The result of the test shows that the significant value is 0.309 or classified as no significance between the readers’ freedom to choose the reading material with their reading comprehension.

Abstract

Many figures in the field of Hadith science, including contemporary hadith figures, who tries to do an in-depth study. One who is considered as a prominent hadith figure in this modern age is al-Albani. In several of his books, al-Albani applies several methods that are considered by some to be new methods. One of Al-Albani's phenomenal books, Irwā al-Galīl fī Manār al-Sabīl, has become a reference for scholars who studies him. This study focuses on Al-Albani's method in determining status of rawi in the book Irwā al-Galīl fī Manār al-Sabīl. Using the qualitative method, within the framework of the design of the critique of Al-Albani's work. This study examines 2,707 hadiths contained in the book. This study finds that Al-Albani in the book often shows an inconsistent attitude in determining the status of a hadith rawi. The form of this inconsistency is found in the changing attitudes of Al-Albani in determining the status of several narrators, including Al-Sa'q bin Hazn, 'Aqil bin Mudrik, Mujja'ah bin Al-Zubair, Harun bin Antarah, 'Amr bin Malik, and 'Amr bin Abd Al-Rahman. From the results of the research found, a general conclusion can be drawn, that Al-Albani at Irwā al-Galīl fī Manār al-Sabīl still shows an inconsistent attitude, especially in determining the status of a narrator.

Abstract

Indonesia has set rules for limiting the age of marriage for the community. However, it is still common for early marriage and matchmaking for children without involving children. This study wants to examine how young people, generation Z, see these two phenomena: the age limit for marriage and the phenomenon of child matchmaking. This research is survey research using a random sampling technique. The data was collected through an interview. The research’s sample is a group of people in the age range of 18-22 years who are in the city of Palu and its surroundings. The study results found that more than 75% of Generation Z supported the establishment of a marriage age limit. This is also consistent where more than 80% of Generation Z also tend to reject matchmaking without involving children. The conclusion of this study (1) Generation Z believes that marriage restriction rules can prevent early marriage, cope with mental health and psychological issues, and reduce the divorce rate and domestic abuse. (2) Generation Z tends to reject the matchmaking system without involving children because marriage is the children's right to have household harmony, and arranged marriage is outdated.

Abstract

This research studies how the Z generation at IAIN Palu in terms of activeness on Instagram social media, as well as how they see religious leaders. Research focusing Instagram social media refers to the level of popularity of Instagram in Z generation. This research was conducted using a survey design that was carried out thoroughly with a sample of 222 people. Research shows there are differences in choosing da'I and religious leaders between those who actively use social media Instagram and those who do not use Instagram. The results of this study indicate the need for more in-depth studies related to social media in terms of its function as one of the dakwah media. Especially seeing the high public interest in using social media.

Abstract

This study examines the prominent role of multicultural knowledge assets to be managed and utilized in supporting the success of the religious moderation program in Islamic universities, specifically the State Islamic University of Datokarama Palu. The university was chosen based on its background which focuses on the religious moderation aspect. This study aims to reveal the utilization of multicultural knowledge assets owned by the State Islamic University of Datokarama Palu to build religious moderation. One of the knowledge assets possessed is a multicultural intellectual asset. The method of the study was the qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. This study produced several findings, namely; (1) multicultural knowledge does not only come from internal human resources personnel but also the knowledge that is institutional and sourced from external; (2) that multicultural knowledge is relevant to be utilized in the context of building religious moderation based on respect for cultural and religious diversity. However, in several programs, the State Islamic University of Datokarama Palu has not fully utilized the assets of multicultural knowledge. The two seem to be separated from the religious moderation development program. Despite that, both are integral units that need and support each other to build a moderate-academic social life at educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Arabic learning during the pandemic and explores students' intentions and motivations in learning Arabic online. The type used in this research is a qualitative approach. An exploratory investigative approach is used to investigate students' intentions and motivations in learning Arabic online. Data will be collected by distributing the questionnaire offline and online. The data was then used to analyse the intentions and motivations of second semester students of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten to support the long-distance Arabic courses. The study results indicate that the overall average score is still above 4 on a scale of 6. It be interpreted that the students having good intentions and motivation in online Arabic lectures.

Abstract

AbstractTerrorism is one of the extraordinary crimes, creating terror based on ideological differences and misinterpreting religious teaching. This research focuses on how the re-education program for terrorist convicts is carried out and what are the factors that influence a person to be involved in criminal acts of terrorism. The research uses qualitative methods within the exploratory, investigative approach. The participants of the research are 36 terrorism convicts who are still serving their sentences. The research found that the re-education program given to terrorism convicts centered on strengthening ideology related to strong religious values and nationalism spirit. The ideological aspect is the main point in the re-education program, this is because the ideological aspect is more permanent and effective. The terrorists were still dominated by males and members of JAD (Jamaah Anshorut Daulah). The background of the individuals is also varied, ranging from uneducated to bachelor or higher, unemployed to civil servants. The convicts who join a terrorist group have different reasons. However, several reasons generally stated by convicts involved in terrorist groups are a strong belief in a particular ideology or religion, hatred of certain groups or ideologies, and the urge to make radical changes in society. In addition, convicts may also be affected by factors such as poverty, injustice, and discrimination they experienced. The research also unveils that the convicts have regret for their previous acts. Therefore, the re-education program's main role is to ensure the convicts are part of society once again.AbstrakTerorisme adalah salah satu kejahatan luar biasa yang menciptakan ketakutan berdasarkan perbedaan ideologi dan penafsiran yang salah terhadap ajaran agama. Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana program reedukasi terhadap terorisme dijalankan dan faktor-faktor apa saja yang memengaruhi seseorang untuk terlibat dalam tindakan kriminal terorisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan eksploratif dan investigatif. Peserta penelitian adalah 36 narapidana terorisme yang masih menjalani hukuman mereka. Penelitian menemukan bahwa program reedukasi yang diberikan kepada narapidana terorisme berpusat pada penguatan ideologi terkait nilai agama dan semangat berbangsa yang kuat. Aspek ideologis menjadi poin utama dalam program reedukasi, hal tersebut dikarenakan aspek ideologis lebih bersifat permanen dan efektif. Teroris masih didominasi oleh laki-laki dan anggota JAD (Jamaah Anshorut Daulah). Latar belakang individu-individu ini juga beragam, mulai dari yang tidak berpendidikan hingga sarjana atau lebih tinggi, dari pengangguran hingga pegawai negeri. Narapidana yang bergabung dengan kelompok teroris memiliki alasan yang berbeda. Namun, beberapa alasan yang umumnya dinyatakan oleh narapidana yang terlibat dalam kelompok teroris adalah keyakinan kuat pada ideologi atau agama tertentu, kebencian terhadap kelompok atau ideologi tertentu, dan dorongan untuk membuat perubahan radikal dalam masyarakat. Selain itu, narapidana juga dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti kemiskinan, ketidakadilan, dan diskriminasi yang mereka alami. Penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa para narapidana menyesal atas tindakan mereka sebelumnya. Evaluation of English Texts' Readability in National Examination in Indonesia Mohamad Syafri

Abstract

The National Examination is still considered one of the main national-scale tests. As one of the subjects tested, English has used many texts in National Examination. This study evaluates the quality of reading texts' readability in the English National Examination for Junior High School from 2014/2015-2018/2019. 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 are not tested due to their cancellation under the health protocol implemented by the government. The study follows the quantitative descriptive evaluation approach. The SMOG formula is used to measure the texts' readability. From the last five English National Examination tests, 31 texts were tested. There are three aspects evaluated: the number of texts per test, words per text, and readability. The study results showed that there are 87 texts used in total from 2014-2015 to 2018/2019. Among them, only 31 texts exceed 150 words. The average texts quantity is 6,2, and the annual growth is 13,6%. The average number of words per text is 224,1, and the yearly growth is 4,6%. The main aspect, the average score of texts readability is 9,71 or at the level "Easy to Read" suitable to 6th Grader, and the annual growth of texts' readability is 3,9%. The study results show an improvement in quantity and quality, specifically for the readability, of the texts used in the English National Examination.
