Abstract

This research aims to examine how the Qur'an gives humans an idea of the procedures for educating children according to the classification of the child's condition and growing up period. This research is a library research. This research is a research of the Qur’an that focuses on a theme, then explicitly the object of the research are the verses on the cultivation of the morals of the child and at the same time the terms of the child in the Qur’an and subsequently the verses along with it. So the method of this approach used is the approach of interpretation science as one of the parts of several approaches known in religious research. The results of this research show that the nature of child moral development in the Qur'an should be firmly carried out through two stages, namely, first, the moral development of children in the womb. The second, the cultivation of the child's moral after birth, is a continuation of the child's moral coaching in the womb. الملخص تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى فحص كيفية قيام القرآن بتقديم لمحة عامة للإنسان عن إجراءات تعليم الأطفال حسب تصنيف حالة الطفل وفترة نموه وتطوره. هذا البحث هو بحث مكتبة. هذا البحث عبارة عن دراسة للقرآن تركز على موضوع معين ، ثم صراحة موضوع البحث آيات عن غرس أخلاق الأبناء ومصطلح طفل في القرآن ثم الآيات المصاحبة له. لذا فإن طريقة المنهج المستخدمة هي منهج علم التفسير كجزء من عدة مناهج معروفة في البحث الديني. تشير نتائج هذه الدراسة إلى أن طبيعة تنمية أخلاق الأطفال في القرآن يجب أن تتم بشكل صارم من خلال مرحلتين ، أولًا ، تنمية أخلاق الأطفال من الرحم. ثانيًا ، النمو الأخلاقي للأطفال بعد الولادة هو استمرار للنمو الأخلاقي للأطفال من الرحم الكلمات المفتاحية: أخلاق; أطفال; تربية; تفسي Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana Al-Qur'an memberikan gambaran kepada manusia tentang tata cara mendidik anak menurut klasifikasi kondisi anak dan masa tumbuh kembangnya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Al-Qur'an yang berfokus pada suatu tema, kemudian secara eksplisit objek penelitiannya adalah ayat-ayat tentang penanaman akhlak anak sekaligus istilah anak dalam Al-Qur'an dan selanjutnya ayat-ayat yang menyertainya. Maka metode pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan ilmu tafsir sebagai salah satu bagian dari beberapa pendekatan yang dikenal dalam penelitian agama. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa fitrah pembinaan akhlak anak dalam al-Qur'an harus tegas dilakukan melalui dua tahapan, yaitu pertama, pembinaan akhlak anak sejak dalam kandungan. Kedua, pembinaan akhlak anak setelah lahir, merupakan kelanjutan dari pembinaan akhlak anak sejak dalam kandungan. Kata Kunci : Akhlak; Anak; Pengasuhan; Tafsir

Abstract

English Language Learning in Excellent Class of MTsN 3 Jombang is integrated with the Cambridge Curriculum and it is one of the leading programs in MTsN 3 Jombang to Go International. This qualitative descriptive research used purposive sampling techniques. The subjects in this study were the Head of the Madrasah, the Vice of curriculum, the Head of the Excellent Class Program, and the English Teacher Excellent Class. Data collection is carried out by carrying out observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The validity of the data is checked by triangulation and member check. The findings in this article are 1) Learning Planning aims to prepare learners to compete at local, national, and international levels; 2) Learning implementation is carried out intensively for 3 months in Grades VII-IX to equip students and develop optimally English using the Cambridge Curriculum; and 3) Learning Evaluation consists of written tests, oral tests, and practice tests.

Abstract

The development of scientific articles has dynamically improved, including in the English disciplines. Therefore, this study explores the relationship between using the Academic Word List (AWL) and the ranking of journals in English studies in Indonesia, with a particular focus on writing characteristics. Given the growing importance of academic vocabulary in language learning and the pivotal role of writing in academic success, this research aims to provide insights into how academic word usage correlates with journal quality. This study itself is quantitative research. 180 articles from 18 Sinta-accredited journals were analyzed using an electronic text analysis approach. The journals were chosen proportionally based on their Sinta’s rank. AntConc is used as the main application to analyze the lexical richness of the articles. The findings reveal that the overall lexical richness of the articles is 7.23%, with AWL words comprising 4.04% of the total vocabulary used. Despite these findings, statistical analysis indicates no significant correlation between the frequency of AWL usage and the journals' rankings. These results suggest that while AWL contributes to the lexical profile of academic writing, it does not directly influence journal ranking. Reasons could be assumed regarding these findings, such as journal’s editorial policies, authorial preference, and disciplinary variations. This study enhances our understanding of the elements of high-quality academic writing and offers valuable insights for teaching and learning academic writing. Teachers and lecturers of academic writing courses could explore and elaborate on AWL’s role in their teaching. Abstrak Perkembangan artikel ilmiah semakin dinamis, termasuk pada disiplin ilmu bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi hubungan antara penggunaan Academic Word List (AWL) dan pemeringkatan jurnal dalam studi bahasa Inggris di Indonesia, dengan fokus khusus pada karakteristik penulisan. Mengingat semakin pentingnya kosakata akademis dalam pembelajaran bahasa dan peran penting menulis dalam keberhasilan akademis, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana penggunaan kata akademis berkorelasi dengan kualitas jurnal. Penelitian ini sendiri merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. 180 artikel dari 18 jurnal terakreditasi Sinta dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan electronic text analysis. Jurnal telah dipilih secara proporsional berdasarkan rangking Sinta. Dalam melakukan analisis terhadap lexical richness digunakan aplikasi AntConc. Temuannya mengungkapkan bahwa keseluruhan kekayaan leksikal artikel adalah 7,23%, dengan kata-kata AWL mencakup 4,04% dari total kosakata yang digunakan. Meskipun ada temuan ini, analisis statistik menunjukkan tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara frekuensi penggunaan AWL dan peringkat jurnal. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun AWL berkontribusi terhadap profil leksikal penulisan akademik, namun tidak secara langsung berhubungan dengan peringkat jurnal. Beberapa alasan yang diasumsikan menjadi dasar dari temuan, diantaranya kebijakan editorial dari jurnal, kecenderungan gaya menulis, dan ragam disiplim keilmuan. Studi ini meningkatkan pemahaman kita tentang unsur-unsur penulisan akademik berkualitas tinggi dan menawarkan wawasan berharga untuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran penulisan akademik. Abstract

Background: Many variables, including culture and social conditions, bind language. The study of cultural aspects and language learning still has many gaps, such as exploring writing skills. Writing is considered a productive language skill that correlates with how students express and understand their circumstances and environments. Objective: Therefore, this research explores sociocultural identity with Lexical Richness in text writing. Methods: This research was conducted using a quantitative method. The research design is correlational analysis. The research participants were 86 eleventh grade students selected by purposive random sampling. The results showed that the significance value was 0.575, so it was concluded that there was no significant relationship between sociocultural identity and lexical richness in writing. Findings: In addition, the research also found a high gap among students in expressing ideas with diverse words, where the range between the most and least varied text was 47% and the average 56.9%. It is hypothesized that the students' basic ability to use English will be a crucial indicator that influences competence before other external factors, such as their cultural background interference. In addition, this research can serve as a basis for future studies, especially considering that external factors in learning can play a role depending on prerequisite conditions. Conclusion: For teachers and educators, this research could give insight into a more applicable way to develop vocabulary and writing.

Abstract

Abstract. Movies are a reflection of real-life phenomena, including the language phenomenon. Therefore, using the movie from Disney “Moana”, this research analyzes expressive illocutionary acts. As part of the broader speech act theory, expressive acts convey the speaker's psychological state, such as apologizing, thanking, congratulating, wishing, greeting, and expressing attitudes. This study is a descriptive qualitative study through content analysis, using Moana’s movie script as the primary data source. Data were collected through viewing, note-taking, classification, and analysis. Dell Hymes’ SPEAKING model and lexical analysis via AntConc were the primary data analysis methods. The findings reveal that four types of illocutionary acts appear in the film—expressive, commissive, directive, and representative—while declarative acts are absent. Among 559 illocutionary utterances identified, 34% (190) were expressive. "Attitude" is the most frequent (65%) expressive act, and "wishing" is the least (2%). Expressive acts in all types, except wishing, appeared in both direct and indirect forms, often reflecting complex social roles and intentions. Lexical analysis showed that expressive utterances predominantly used common and grammatically relevant vocabulary, suggesting the film's potential as a practical teaching resource, especially for children. Overall, this study not only deepens the understanding of expressive illocutionary acts in animated films but also highlights their relevance in language education contexts.Keyword: Speech Acts, Expressive Illocutionary Acts, Movies, Word Types

Abstract

Grammatical accuracy remains a persistent challenge for EFL learners, particularly in descriptive writing, which demands precise language and structural control. This study investigated grammatical errors in a corpus of thirty descriptive texts produced by Indonesian high-school EFL learners, aiming to identify their types, classification, and underlying causes. Using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, errors were first identified through Azar’s coding system and classified using Bialystok et al.’s Surface Structure Taxonomy. Their causes were then interpreted through Corder’s and Ellis’ theoretical models, distinguishing intralingual from interlingual sources. Quantitative analysis showed singular-plural errors as the most frequent, followed by word choice, word form, and punctuation errors. Omission dominated misformation, addition and misordering, suggesting cognitive constraints or negative L1 transfer. Qualitative interpretation indicated that intralingual errors, comprising overgeneralization and simplification, significantly outweighed interlingual ones, highlighting the developmental nature of learners’ interlanguage at the intermediate level. The study underscores the need for clarification of complex grammatical structures, focused vocabulary development, the promotion of proofreading skills, and systematic feedback to address learners’ persistent difficulties in morphology, lexis, and mechanics. The insights gained from this analysis offer practical implications for improving writing curriculum design and instructional strategies.

Abstract

AbstractTerrorism is one of the extraordinary crimes, creating terror based on ideological differences and misinterpreting religious teaching. This research focuses on how the re-education program for terrorist convicts is carried out and what are the factors that influence a person to be involved in criminal acts of terrorism. The research uses qualitative methods within the exploratory, investigative approach. The participants of the research are 36 terrorism convicts who are still serving their sentences. The research found that the re-education program given to terrorism convicts centered on strengthening ideology related to strong religious values and nationalism spirit. The ideological aspect is the main point in the re-education program, this is because the ideological aspect is more permanent and effective. The terrorists were still dominated by males and members of JAD (Jamaah Anshorut Daulah). The background of the individuals is also varied, ranging from uneducated to bachelor or higher, unemployed to civil servants. The convicts who join a terrorist group have different reasons. However, several reasons generally stated by convicts involved in terrorist groups are a strong belief in a particular ideology or religion, hatred of certain groups or ideologies, and the urge to make radical changes in society. In addition, convicts may also be affected by factors such as poverty, injustice, and discrimination they experienced. The research also unveils that the convicts have regret for their previous acts. Therefore, the re-education program's main role is to ensure the convicts are part of society once again.AbstrakTerorisme adalah salah satu kejahatan luar biasa yang menciptakan ketakutan berdasarkan perbedaan ideologi dan penafsiran yang salah terhadap ajaran agama. Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana program reedukasi terhadap terorisme dijalankan dan faktor-faktor apa saja yang memengaruhi seseorang untuk terlibat dalam tindakan kriminal terorisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan eksploratif dan investigatif. Peserta penelitian adalah 36 narapidana terorisme yang masih menjalani hukuman mereka. Penelitian menemukan bahwa program reedukasi yang diberikan kepada narapidana terorisme berpusat pada penguatan ideologi terkait nilai agama dan semangat berbangsa yang kuat. Aspek ideologis menjadi poin utama dalam program reedukasi, hal tersebut dikarenakan aspek ideologis lebih bersifat permanen dan efektif. Teroris masih didominasi oleh laki-laki dan anggota JAD (Jamaah Anshorut Daulah). Latar belakang individu-individu ini juga beragam, mulai dari yang tidak berpendidikan hingga sarjana atau lebih tinggi, dari pengangguran hingga pegawai negeri. Narapidana yang bergabung dengan kelompok teroris memiliki alasan yang berbeda. Namun, beberapa alasan yang umumnya dinyatakan oleh narapidana yang terlibat dalam kelompok teroris adalah keyakinan kuat pada ideologi atau agama tertentu, kebencian terhadap kelompok atau ideologi tertentu, dan dorongan untuk membuat perubahan radikal dalam masyarakat. Selain itu, narapidana juga dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti kemiskinan, ketidakadilan, dan diskriminasi yang mereka alami. Penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa para narapidana menyesal atas tindakan mereka sebelumnya. Oleh karena itu, program reedukasi menjalankan peran utamanya untuk memastikan para narapidana kembali menjadi bagian dari masyarakat.How to Cite: Nisa,P.K., Mustofa, T. Abstract

The ASEAN Summit has become an interesting momentum and is in the spotlight because the views and attitudes of Southeast Asian leaders will be greatly reflected in the event. The 42nd ASEAN Summit is an attractive momentum considering Indonesia's status as the current Chairman of ASEAN, that this activity was also carried out in post-COVID-19 Pandemic conditions and Timor-Leste's first involvement as a candidate for a new ASEAN member. Focusing on the welcoming speech by President Joko Widodo at the Summit, this study uses a descriptive qualitative method using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) model developed by Norman Fairclough. This study conducts discourse analysis using three dimensions: text, discursive, and sociocultural analysis. The results of the analysis show that textually the speech delivered by President Joko Widodo uses the words 'I' and 'ASEAN' repeatedly. The term 'I' is generally in the function of hosting activities, and 'ASEAN' indicates a collective effort. Modality in the speech is also used to reinforce the vision of ASEAN. The socio-cultural analysis shows that the speech delivered by President Joko Widodo has characteristics to emphasize the current condition in the form of internal and external challenges. On the other hand, ideologically, President Joko Widodo stresses the message of exploring the potential in accordance with ASEAN's vision.
