Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah berbasis masyarakat (PSBM) adalah sistem penanganan sampah yang direncanakan, disusun, dioperasikan, dikelola dan dimiliki oleh masyarakat. Peran PSBM sangat penting dalam ikut membantu mengurangi permasalahan sampah kota, sehingga konsep tersebut banyak dilakukan di berbagai tempat, termasuk di Rawasari. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perkembangan kegiatan PSBM di Rawasari, yang secara khusus bertujuan: (i) monitoring dan evaluasi, (ii) pembinaan dan pendampingan, (iii) sosialisasi dan publikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan PSBM di Rawasari berjalan dengan baik, berkat adanya pembinaan yang baik dan berkesinambungan. Hal ini tergambar dari peningkatan jumlah keluarga yang berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pengomposan dan daur ulang sampah anorganik. Hasil tersebut juga tidak terlepas dari peran kader lingkungan yang ada serta kerjasama yang baik antar stakeholders, baik yang berasal dari pemerintah setempat, instansi kebersihan, lembaga penelitian, LSM, lembaga asing, dan warga setempat. Adanya kegiatan sosialisasi keberhasilan PSBM di RW 01 dan RW 02 melalui kegiatan pencanangan gerakan PSBM oleh Gubernur DKI Jakarta, ikut mendorong keberhasilan PSBM di Rawasari. Pemerintah DKI Jakarta menyadari bahwa peran serta masyarakat, sangat efektif dalam menekan jumlah timbulan sampah. Untuk itu, kegiatan PSBM telah dijadikan sebagai salah satu program utama pengelolaan sampah. kata kunci: pengelolaan sampah, kader lingkungan, daur ulang, pengomposanAbstractCommunity-based solid waste management (CBSWM) is the solid waste management that are planned, developed, operated, managed and owned by the local community. CBSWM is very important role to reduce the problem of municipal solid waste. This concept is widely applied in various places, including in Rawasari, Central Jakarta. The study was conducted to determine the progress of the CBSWM in Rawasari, which specifically aims to: (i) monitoring and evaluation, (ii) coaching and mentoring, (iii) socializing and publication. The results showed that the activity of CBSWM in Rawasari is going well. This is illustrated by the increasing number of families who participate in composting and recycling of anorganic waste. These good results are affected by the roles of environmental cadres as well as good cooperation between stakeholders, such as local governments, research institutions, NGOs, international agencies, and local residents. The Jakarta administration realizes that the roles of the community are very effective in reducing the amount of waste generation. Abstract

Paper waste is one type of municipal solid wastes that is not properly manage yet. It contributes about ten percent of MSW. Indonesia paper waste generation is about 1.6 million ton per year which 70 percent of them was recovered byscavengers and sold to the recycling paper industries. To optimize the paperwaste management, it is needed cooperation between community, private sectors and government in the MSW management. In this article, the author talks about paper waste generation and its potency, prospect and route of its market, and strategy of paper waste management.

Abstract

Organic Fertilizer in the form of Granule Organic Fertilizer (POG), which is enrichedwith functional microbes, has been produced in great quantities nowdays, because it isexpected to improve the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil at once. Thecondition of land degradation that has become a big concern, in spite of the low organicmatter in the lands, more encourage the increasing of POG production to be applied verysoon into agricultural lands in Indonesia. However, how is the conditions of the POGplant, what kind of raw material that will be used and how does the production processitself run, would be very excited to be analysis in order to develop the future of POGplant. Results showed that the POG plant conditions generally contains of the facilitiesand infrastructure that support the physical/ mechanical process, that is not passed thebiological process first which is known as composting process. The raw materials thathas been used could not maximize organic materials potentials that exist and only relyon animal waste and sugarcane waste (blotong) from sugar mills, as the main mostlyused raw material. While the common POG manufacturing process consist of the mixingof the raw materials, granulation process, drying, cooling, screening, enrichment withfunctional microbes and packaging.

Abstract

Kegiatan komposting sampah kota umumnya tidak berjalan sinambung karena kegagalan pasar, lemahnya dukungan pemerintah, lemahnya manajemen dan ketidaklayakan teknik yang digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menyusun  konsep metabolisme pengelolaan sampah organik melalui teknologi komposting di wilayah internal perkotaan. Metodologi penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kuntitatif dan eksploratif deskriptif melalui analisis matematis, analisis multikriteria pengambilan keputusan, analisis aliran material, dan analisis finansial. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa metabolisme pengelolaan sampah organik melalui teknologi komposting di wilayah internal perkotaan adalah metabolism sistem fisik, sosial, dan ekonomi dari kegiatan pengelolaan sampah organik yang bercirikan metabolisme antropogenik untuk keberlanjutan kota sedang. Kata kunci: Pengelolaan sampah organik, metabolisme, aliran material, komposting, analisis multikriteria. AbstractComposting of municipal solid waste activities generally do not run continuously because of market failure, lack of government support, poor management and inability of the techniques used. This study aims to develop the concept of the metabolism of organic waste management through composting technology in internal urban areas. Theresearch methodology was conducted by the method of quantitative and descriptive explorative through mathematical analysis, multicriteria decision analysis, material flow analysis, and financial analysis. The study concluded that the metabolism of organic waste management through composting technology in internal urban areas is themetabolism system of physical, social, economic and environmental of organic waste management activities characterized by anthropogenic metabolism to the sustainability of medium cities. Key words: Organic waste management, metabolism, material flow, composting, analysis of multicriteria

Abstract

Organic material from municipal solid wastes can be recycled by compostingtechnology become organic fertilizer. One kind of composting technologies isvermicomposting that use earthworm as ‘machine” of composting process. Thereare two products from the process: biomass of worm and casting. Vermicomposting consists of three phases of activities such as preparation,processing, and nursing phase. Preparation phase consists of choosing oflocation, system, building, and equipment. Processing phase consists of making of worm media, preparation of worm and planting. Nursing phase consists of feeding, turning, cropping of casting and controlling of the disease. This article talk about those phases and the classification and characterization of earthworm.

Abstract

Pulp and paper mills are one of the important industries that contribute ingovernment’s income. Unfortunatelly, they also produce the wastes, such assludge that potentially degrade the environmental quality. The common treatments of sludge are landfilling and incinerating. However, the current trend is to recycle of sludge or it is used for producing the valuable products like absorbents, fillers, compost, etc. These are more attractives than landfilling or incinerating due to economically benefit.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar potensi produksi gas metana dan upaya pemanfaatannya serta sejauh mana kualitas gas yang dihasilkannya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menganalisis komposisi sampah yang masuk TPA dan menganalisis komposisi gas TPA. Analisis potensi produksi gas metana dilakukan berdasarkan metode First Order Decay (FOD) menggunakan Software IPCC Spreadsheet for Estimating Methane Emissions from Solid Waste Disposal Sites dan Software Landfill Gas Emission Model (LandGEMversi 3.02). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola produksi gas metana di TPA Kota Probolinggo berbentukexponential growth dan mencapai puncaknya pada tahun 2015 yaitu 1.793 – 2.001 m3 dan kemudian diikuti dengan penurunan secara exponential decay. Produksi gas metana hingga tahun 2038 yang diperkirakan sebesar 19.818 – 36.259 m3 yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi. Kualitas atau karakteristik gas TPA Kota Probolinggoterdiri atas CH4 sebesar 46,9%, CO2 sebesar 30,12%, O2 sebesar 2,52%, CO sebesar 10,2 ppm dan H2S 1,62 ppm.Kata kunci: Sampah, gas metana,TPA

Abstract

The large scale composting activity needs mechanical equipments foroperational efficiency like The Cakung Slaughterhouse has been done.Installation of mechanical equipments and buildings make it costly compare tomanual composting activities. The cost of mechanical composting need to becounted such as investment, operation and maintenance cost in order to getthe specific cost of compost production. This can be used for pricing compostproduct. According to the analysis, the best pricing for compost product is morethan Rp. 807/kg, for example Rp. 1000/kg compost. It means that CakungSlaughterhouse need increase gradually the existing compost price from Rp.500/kg to Rp. 1000/kg compost. Abstract

Kampung Banjarsari is a model of community based waste management in the Jakarta metropolitan area. It is becoming an example of an environmentally friendly kampung for other communities from different part of the country. What the Banjarsari reached is the results of very tight cooperation between Banjarsari community, UNESCO and Yayasan Kirai and BPPT since 1996. The main activities in Banjarsari are focused on (1) establishment of an environmental committee at the community level, (2) improvement of the waste collection system (sorting of waste), (3) capitalization on waste trough alternative livelihood activities (paper recycling, composting, growing of plants using locally produced compost as fertiliser), (4) greening programmes, and (5) public awareness.

Abstract

Upaya pembuatan kompos sampah rumah tangga dengan menggunakan ”komposter”, dapat membantu upaya pengelolaan sampah kota dalam bentuk: mengurangi jumlahtimbulan sampah di sumber, mengurangi biaya transportasi pengangkutan sampah dan dapat memperpanjang umur TPA. Untuk itulah penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas proses pengomposannya, sekaligus mengetahui kualitas kompos yang dihasilkan. Parameter analisis kualitas kompos yang digunakanadalah: keberadaan mikroba kontaminan, tingkat kematangan, serta kesesuaian dengan Permentan No. 28 of 2009 atau SNI Kompos 2004. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa proses pengomposannya berjalan dengan baik dan cukup efektif, serta menggambarkan proses dekomposisi secara aerobik. Adapun produk kompos yang dihasilkan berkualitas baik, bebas dari mikroba kontaminan (patogen), memenuhi persyaratan kompos matang dan secara umum sesuai dengan parameter yang dipersyaratkan oleh Permentan Pupuk Organik atau SNI Kompos 2004.
