Abstract

The issues faced by the Millennial Generation in Medan include a suboptimal level of education. This is evident from the lack of awareness among some millennials in Medan about the importance of education. Moreover, not all millennials in Medan possess adequate financial literacy, as seen in their low interest in participating in financial literacy training and development programs. The hedonistic lifestyle among Medan's millennials also tends to prioritize entertainment over education. Their financial behavior is often unwise, with a tendency to spend income on unnecessary items rather than saving or investing. This research employs a quantitative approach. The analysis results indicate that Financial Literacy does not have a positive or significant impact on Financial Behavior, as the p-values are > 0.05. On the other hand, Hedonistic Lifestyle, Financial Attitude, and Education Level have a positive and significant influence on Financial Behavior, suggesting that the proposed hypotheses are accepted and relevant to the Millennial Generation in Medan.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of financial literacy, individual spiritual intelligence, peer group, and love of money on personal financial management among the multigenerational caregivers (sandwich generation) in Medan City, with locus of control serving as a mediating factor. Utilizing a quantitative, associative research design, data were gathered from 96 respondents via structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The analysis reveals that both financial literacy and individual spiritual intelligence significantly enhance personal financial management and contribute to a stronger locus of control. Although the peer group exerts a significant influence on locus of control, its direct impact on personal financial management is not statistically significant. In contrast, love of money demonstrates a significant positive effect on personal financial management, while its effect on locus of control remains insignificant. Furthermore, locus of control significantly improves personal financial management and mediates the relationships between the independent variables and financial management practices. The findings underscore the potential of targeted financial education, initiatives to bolster spiritual intelligence, and the cultivation of supportive peer networks to enhance financial management among the sandwich generation.

Abstract

At PT KAI Divre I North Sumatra, this study investigates the impact of social intelligence, self-leadership, and employee ability on organizational commitment, with a particular emphasis on the mediating role of employee performance. Employing a rigorous quantitative research design, data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. The findings reveal that self-leadership significantly enhances employee performance; however, it does not exert a direct effect on organizational commitment. Conversely, social intelligence exhibits a robust positive impact on organizational commitment, despite having no significant effect on employee performance. Additionally, employee ability is positively correlated with employee performance, yet it does not directly influence organizational commitment. Importantly, the anticipated mediating role of employee performance was not supported, suggesting that enhancements in performance alone may be insufficient to strengthen organizational commitment. These results underscore the need for a comprehensive approach in leadership and human resource development that simultaneously fosters performance improvement and cultivates organizational commitment.
