An Analysis of Deixis and Speech Act Used in English Teaching and Learning Process Yulfi Yulfi

This study focuses on analyzing deixis and speech acts used by the English teacher and eleventh grade students of language program at Islamic Integrated Senior High School Curup in the academic year 2013/2014. The topic was chosen by the researcher as the object of the research, first of all because deixis and speech acts are commonly analyzed in the daily conversation such as in movie and comic. Secondly, this school is the one that has a language program class at eleventh grade besides two science program classes and two social program classes. This study means to explain the used of deixis and speech acts in English teaching and learning. The design of this research is an ethnography research and the main instrument of this research is the researcher itself. The finding of this study shows that the teacher of English and students used deixis in their daily activity in the classroom. However, the most frequently types of deixis used by them is person deixis. Further, the most dominant type of speech acts on English teaching and learning at this class is directive utterance. Generally, the teacher more often used them to give command, suggestion and request.The teacher and students used deixis and speech acts almost in every moment. Because this class used teacher center, so the students used deixis and speech act only when they responded the teachers questions. This study aims to determine students' motivation in learning English and its effect on their English learning achievement. The research method used is survey research with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The questionnaire was adapted from the Attitude Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) designed by Gardner. The results showed that 52% of students took an active role in learning English. Students are relative "highly" motivated to learn English to have a good chance in their educational goals. In conclusion, instrumental motivation is a significant factor among students of SMAN 5 Lubuklinggau in learning English. Based on data documents about students' English scores, students' motivation to learn English affects their English learning achievement. Keywords: English, Learning, Motivation

The purpose of this research was to develope and validate the suplementary speaking material in digital media for accounting students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau. This research used Research and Development Method by applying Borg and Gall Model. There were ten steps, they are (1) research and information collecting (2) planning (3) developing preliminary form of product (4) preliminary field testing (5) main product revision (6) field testing (7) operational product revision (8) operational field testing (9) final product (10) dissemination and implementation.. The subjects were the Accounting students of eleventh grade in academic year 2020/2021. While, for step 6, 8 and 10 were applied by using Google Classroom application in English group of XI Accounting Program. The data showed that there were some problem faced by the students aespecially in finding a speaking book which concerning to accounting program. The teacher also need a book that can help English speaking skill not only for general English. After following the ten steps in R&D method, started from analyzing, evaluating, revising and trying out, it was concluded that the suplementary speaking material in digital media for accounting students can help them in learning English based on their need. Di dalam kulit bawang merah terdapat berbagai senyawa kimia yang sangat bermanfaat bagi tubuh manusia, diantaranya flavanoid, tanin, saponin, dan glikosida. Setiap senyawa tersebut memiliki manfaat yang berbeda, seperti Flavonoid yang dapat menghasilkan aktivitas antioksidan antidermatosis, kemopreventif, antikanker, serta memiliki sifat fotoprotektif sehingga diyakini mampu menyerap sinar ultraviolet. Banyaknya jenis kandungan senyawa kimia tersebut, menjadikan kulit bawang merah dapat diolah menjadi makanan yang sehat dan tinggi gizi. Salah satu produk makanan yang dibuat dari kulit bawang merah adalah keripik. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan produk keripik kulit bawang merah kepada ibu-ibu PKK di kelurahan Air Kuti Lubuklinggau Timur I. Metode pelaksanaan dalam pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan yang dimulai dari tahap sosialisasi, tahap pemberian pengetahuan, dan tahap pelatihan. Lokasi Pelaksanaan program PKM ini adalah di kelurahan Air Kuti, Kecamatan Lubuklinggau Timur 1, Kota Lubuklinggau Sumatera Selatan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah: 1) ibu ibu PKK kelurahan Air Kuti setelah mengikuti pelatihan menjadi tau akan kandungan dalam kulit bawang merah, 2) Ibu ibu PKK kelurahan Air Kuti setelah mengikuti pelatihan menjadi bisa mengolah dan membuat kulit bawang merah menjadi kerikpik kulit bawang merah, 3) Bertambahnya variasi makanan, yaitu keripik kulit bawang merah dengan berbagai rasa pada industri rumah tangga di daerah Mitra

This research was obtained to investigate slow learners’ difficulties in learning Basic English literacy and numeracy at SMP N L Sidoharjo Musi Rawas Distric. Mix method was be applied in conducting this research in order to answer two research questions about the slow learners’ difficulties and the factors of difficulties in learning Basic English literacy and numeracy. In collecting data, the researchers used diagnostic test and interview. Twenty seventh grader slow learners’ took part as the subject of the research. And data from test were analyzed quantitatively, while data from interview were analyzed qualitatively by using model analysis of Miles and Huberman: data collection, condensation, data display and drawing and verifying conclusion. After analyzing data, it was found that slow learners at SMP L Sidoharjo face difficulties in Basic English Literacy and Numeracy. In literacy, they have problem in reading, especially in getting specific information from the text. Then, they also faced difficulties in arranging words into simple sentences and arranging simple sentences into a good paragraph. While in numeracy, they were difficult in comprehending data in the form of table, graph or chart. Calculating how much they have paid (price) and writing number into words became other difficulties for them. These difficulties were caused by several factors that come from internal and external factors. Their cognitive intelligence and their attitude in learning English were factors from themselves. In addition, their parents’ careless relating to their study, limitation of learning facilities and their parents’ educational background were affected to their success in learning. Furthermore, the quantity of using learning media and unvaried teaching techniques used by the English teacher affected to their interest and enthusiastic in learning English. These all became the factors of their difficulties in learning Basic English Literacy and Numeracy. Keywords: Basic English, Learning Difficulties, Literacy, Numeracy, Slow Learners

Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarkat ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan dalam bentuk teori dan praktik mengenai aplikasi CapCut dan membuat produk video pembelajaran berupa slide ataupun clip video. Pelatihan ini telah terlaksana pada tanggat 24, 25, dan 26 april 2025 di sekolah SMPN O mangunharjo. Guru SMP tersebut merupakan peserta pelatihan yang terlaksana. Metode- metode yang digunakan adalah workshop pelatihan aplikasi capcut, diskusi dan persentasi hasil produk. Berdasarkan 3hari pelaksanaan, kegiatan ini menghasilkan 20 produk video pembelajaran menarik dan terbaca. Lalu tidak hanya itu guru mampu melakukan editing dan designing video dengan menggunakan aplikasi capcut. Namun tidak semua guru tuntas menghasilkan produk.

This research aimed to explore the enhancement of students’ social skills through their participation in the Kampus Mengajar program. The research focused on four core skill areas: Communication Skills, Emotion Regulation Skills, Cognitive Skills, and Social Problem Solving Skills using Douglas, Smith, and Johnson’s (2020) theory. A descriptive qualitative method was employed with 30 students from PGRI Silampari University selected purposively as the subjects of this research. Questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis were used as instruments in collecting data. The data were analyzed thematically across 16 indicators. The findings revealed that the Kampus Mengajar program significantly contributed to the development of participants' social competencies. Notably, students demonstrated strong abilities in the four key areas of social skills Communication Skills (88,8%), Emotion Regulation Skills and Cognitive Skills (83,3%), and Social Problem Solving Skills (82,5) which were evident in their classroom interactions. The study concluded that real-world teaching experience provided a valuable context for enhancing students’ social skills.
