Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of students’ literacy skills on their learning outcomes in Indonesian language subjects among fifth- and sixth-grade students at SDN 9 Buwun Mas. Literacy is recognized as a fundamental 21st-century competence that encompasses not only reading and writing but also listening, speaking, analyzing, and critically interpreting information. National and international assessments such as PIRLS, INAP, and PISA consistently show that Indonesian students’ reading literacy remains below global expectations, indicating the need for strengthened literacy practices in schools. SDN 9 Buwun Mas has implemented daily 15-minute reading activities and weekly literacy programs; however, several challenges persist, including students’ boredom, limited book collections, and a lack of public awareness regarding the importance of literacy. These issues are reflected in students’ learning outcomes, which hover only slightly above the minimum competency standards. Using a quantitative correlational design, this study involved 26 students from grades V and VI as research participants. Data were collected through student questionnaires, worksheets, and interviews with classroom teachers. The findings are expected to identify students’ current literacy skills and analyze their influence on Indonesian language learning outcomes. Based on preliminary observations and supporting previous research, it is hypothesized that literacy skills have a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes. The results of this study are expected to provide insights for schools, teachers, and policymakers to improve literacy practices and enhance students’ academic achievement in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the four magic words poster media on students' social interactions at SDN 1 Lendang Kunyit. This study uses a quantitative research method of the Pre-Experimental Design type. Pre-Experimental Design is an experimental research design that does not have a control class or adequate control over external variables.  The research design used was a One-Group Pretest-Posttest. This design involved only one group. The group was first given a pretest, followed by treatment using learning media in the form of posters displaying the four magic words. Finally, the group was given a posttest. The sample in this study was determined by the Purposive Sampling technique. The sample in this study was all students of grades IV and V of SDN 1 Lendang Kunyit with a total of 30 students. The data collection process was carried out through questionnaires and observations, then the data obtained were analyzed using the Paired Sample T Test. The results of the analysis showed that the t-count value was greater than the t-table (7.387 > 2.045) and the significance value (p-value) <0.001 was smaller than 0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. This means that the four magic words poster media had an effect on students' social interactions at SDN 1 Lendang Kunyit. This was also evidenced by an increase in the average score from 76.63 in the pretest to 88.23 in the posttest, indicating an improvement in students' social interactions. All indicators of social interaction, including conversation, cooperation, empathy, and mutual understanding, improved after being given the Four Magic Words poster.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of verbal bullying and their impact on students with special needs in grade V of SDN 31 Mataram. Verbal bullying is still a problem in the world of education, but research that focuses on its forms and impacts at the inclusive elementary school level is still limited. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological design type involving 3 students with special needs, class teachers, and parents of special needs as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the forms of verbal bullying experienced by students with special needs include teasing, harsh words and imitation of speech. The impacts include emotional impacts such as sadness, fear, and crying; social impacts such as withdrawal from social environments, difficulty adapting to social situations and avoiding interactions with friends; and academic impacts including lack of focus, decreased participation in class and obstacles to learning outcomes. These findings indicate that verbal bullying negatively impacts the emotional, social, and academic development of students with special needs. Therefore, schools and teachers need to strengthen supervision and implement preventive measures to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by the Finding Me game media on the learning interest of fourth-grade students in IPAS subjects at Cluster III, Labuapi District. Based on preliminary observations, students were still less active in learning activities and their initial abilities were still at an average score of 60, so a more engaging and interactive learning model was needed. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Bajur as the experimental class with 34 students and SDN 3 Bajur as the control class with 31 students, resulting in a total sample of 65 students. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, documentation, as well as pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and t-tests. The results showed that students’ learning interest reached 88.12% in the very good category. The attention indicator obtained 81%, feeling happy 81.61%, interest 81.47%, and active participation 82.79%. Teacher observation results reached 87.5% and student observations reached 83.3%, both categorized as very good. These results indicate that the Discovery Learning model assisted by the Finding Me game media was able to create active, interactive, and enjoyable learning so that students became more focused, enthusiastic, and involved during the learning process. Students’ learning outcomes in this study were only used as supporting and comparative data. The t-test result obtained a significance value of 0.601 (>0.05), indicating no significant difference in students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the Discovery Learning model assisted by the Finding Me game media proved to be more effective in improving students’ learning interest in elementary school IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of syllable Puzzle media on the beginning reading skills of first-grade students at SDN 24 Ampenan. This research is important to conduct because the initial reading skills of students are still low, as indicated by the fact that most students are not yet fluent in recognizing letters, reading syllables, and forming simple words. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type using a nonequivalent control group design. The data collection technique used was testing, while data analysis was conducted thru prerequisite tests and hypothesis tests (t-test). The research results showed that there was an improvement in initial reading skills in the experimental class with an average score increase from 48 to 78.46, while the control class only increased from 52.88 to 62.85. The hypothesis test results indicated a significant effect of using syllable Puzzle media on students' initial reading skills. The conclusion of this study is that syllable Puzzle media has a positive and significant effect on improving the beginning reading skills of first-grade students at SDN 24 Ampenan, making it a viable alternative for effective and enjoyable learning media.

Abstract

The results of observations on elementary school teachers’ ability to plan and implement developmental research indicate that these competencies remain very low, particularly in terms of conceptual mastery and the preparation of developmental research plans. This condition is further supported by previous studies reporting that continuing professional development activities are still very weak in the area of scientific research. The objective of this community service program (PKM) was to improve elementary school teachers’ mastery of developmental research concepts and their skills in preparing developmental research plans in the city of Mataram. The methods applied included: (1) case-based learning to instil concepts and theories of developmental research; (2) workshop methods to enhance scientific attitudes; and (3) project-based activities to develop skills in preparing developmental research plans. The target participants consisted of 20 teachers representing elementary schools in the city of Mataram. The outcomes of the PKM activities were evaluated using observation techniques, including observations of improvements in conceptual and theoretical mastery and assessments of the proposal products of developmental research. The results of the PKM showed: (1) an increase in the average percentage of knowledge mastery from 64.65% before the PKM activities to 81.55% after the activities; (2) an improvement in scientific attitudes from an average of 65.90% before the workshop to 82.95% after the workshop; and (3) an increase in skills in preparing developmental research plans from an average of 65.85% before the project-based proposal development activities to 82.20% after the activities. It can be concluded that the PKM activities were effective in improving knowledge, scientific attitudes, and skills in preparing developmental research proposals oriented toward the quality of learning among elementary school teachers in the city of Mataram. It is expected that the participants will implement and disseminate the outcomes of this PKM to teachers in their respective schools.
