Abstract

The old Sundanese people already had numeracy literacy or the ability to understand and use numbers. This is evident in some ancient Sundanese manuscripts. This study aims to describe the use of numbers philosophically in the life of the old Sundanese people. In the study, a qualitative approach with a descriptive method was used. Data were collected by bibliographic study techniques. Data sources are ancient Sundanese manuscripts Sanghyang Siksakandang Karesian (1518 AD) and several Sundanese culture books. The data is processed by immediate constituent analysis techniques. To carry out the philosophical interpretation of numeracy literacy used hermeneutic analysis techniques. The results of the study found five paradigms of numeracy literacy, namely numeracy paradigm- (two, three, four, five, and ten). These figures are used in philosophical expressions as Sundanese local wisdom. Philosophical values are related to character, social life, knowledge, education, leadership, and religion.

Abstract

The dynamics of language use in multilingual Indonesian society give rise to language interference and integration. This study aims to identify the forms of language interference and integration in the television show 'Enah Bikin Enak' aired on Trans 7. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through literature study and documentation of several show episodes. The data were analyzed to find forms of interference and language integration between Sundanese and Indonesian. The results showed several forms of interference in phonology, morphology, and syntax. In addition, regional vocabulary and expressions are integrated into the Indonesian language used in the show. These findings reflect the dynamics of language use in mass media, which cannot be separated from the influence of social and cultural developments.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of Sundanese phonological interference by foreign speakers on the social media platform TikTok, particularly on the @Dmitrii account.  The background of this study stems from the increase in language interaction due to globalization, which has given rise to influences in various communication contexts, including regional languages such as Sundanese. The purpose of this study is to explain the forms of phonological errors found in the speech of foreign speakers and to determine the factors that cause them. The method used is descriptive qualitative with listening and note-taking techniques. The data used in this study were sourced from 40 TikTok videos from @Dmitrii that contained elements of Sundanese. The researcher found 168 phonological errors, including 68 phoneme additions, 48 phoneme omissions, and 52 phoneme sound changes that did not comply with Sundanese phonological rules. The factors causing interference included internal factors (the influence of the mother tongue, limited Sundanese language skills, and differences in phonological systems) and external factors (a bilingual environment, digital communication style, and lack of exposure to native Sundanese speakers). This phenomenon proves that phonological interference is not only an error but also a natural process of phonetic adaptation in learning a second language.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and meaning of commissive speech acts in Sundanese political campaign banners during the 2024 general and regional elections in Bandung. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, employing data in the form of banner and billboard texts collected through documentation during the campaign period. The data were analyzed using Searle and Sudaryat's speech act framework, focusing on the types of commissives (promises, offers, commitments, and support) as well as direct–indirect and literal–nonliteral forms. The results show that the dominant commissive speech acts are direct literal forms used to convey political promises explicitly and in a way that is easily understood by voters. These findings confirm the role of banners as a strategic political communication medium in building the image of candidates and influencing voter perceptions, while also enriching the study of political pragmatics in the Sundanese cultural context. Unlike previous studies that generally highlight directive or expressive speech acts in campaign media, this study confirms the dominance of direct literal commissive strategies in Sundanese-language banners and shows that the choice of explicit speech acts plays an important role in building the candidate's image of honesty and cultural closeness in the eyes of voters.
