Abstract

Pusung Kapal Village is one of the villages located in the coastal area of Seruway District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. This village has tourism potential that can be developed as ecotourism including Pusung Siung Beach, Teluk Tamiang Beach, and Tuntong Laut Conservation. The potential that attracts visits is sea turtles (Batagur Borneoensis) and mangroves. However, this ecotourism potential is not yet known by many tourists due to the lack of information. This is due to the lack of knowledge and skills of the Pusung Kapal Village Pokdarwis to promote ecotourism. The method of implementing community service includes training and technical guidance related to ecotourism promotion through website-based internet utilization. The training provided knowledge and technical implementation of tourism promotion such as containing interesting content, presenting information on accessibility and tourist facilities, and promoting souvenirs and village products. After the training, Pokdarwisa members, villagers, and village officials produced content that they would later upload on the ecotourism website. Participants gained knowledge and skills of promotional content through utilizing cyberspace. Another advantage is that for the community it can be a source of increased income through increased tourist visits.

Abstract

The earthquake and tsunami experienced in Aceh created the importance of disaster preparedness. Efforts to improve disaster literacy, including knowledge of its effects, should be conducted. The aims of this study are 1) knowing the level of student’s disaster preparedness knowledge, 2) obtaining gender differences in disaster preparedness knowledge, 3) knowing the difference in academic level on disaster preparedness knowledge, 4) knowing the effect of interaction between gender and academic level on disaster preparedness knowledge. This research involved Geography pre-service teachers on STKIP Al-Washliyah. The results were quantitative data obtained from a disaster preparedness knowledge test, and data collection used multiple-choice tests. A knowledge test instrument was created and validated for data validity and reliability using a wondershare quiz generator. Data were analyzed using an index to decide the extent of knowledge on disaster preparedness. The ANCOVA approach was evaluated to examine the relationship between gender and educational degree. The results indicate that 1) the score for knowledge of disaster preparedness is 49.11, which indicates that knowledge is still in the low category, 2) there is a difference in knowledge of disaster preparedness between male and female pre-service geography teachers with a significant value of 0.004 (<0.05), 3) there is a difference in knowledge of pre-service geography teacher with different academic levels and significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), 4) when viewed from the interaction between gender and academic level, no significant relationship was found on knowledge of disaster preparedness with a score of 0.185 (p> 0.05). According to the findings, it is crucial to increase disaster preparedness knowledge in basic and advanced courses of geography education study programs. Therefore, pre-service geography teachers have good knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness. One of the steps to increase knowledge is providing teaching materials and disaster simulation programs. Abstract

Blended learning needs supporting components to be able to achieve learning objectives. The use of Blended Disaster Learning Multimedia (BDLM) is used as teaching material to support the blended learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using BDLM on knowledge of disaster preparedness. We used a quasi-experimental design using a pretest posttest non-equivalent control group design. Data were analyzed using ANCOVA. Research participants were prospective geography teachers who are participating in the lecture program in the 2021/2022 academic year. To assess the knowledge of disaster preparedness using an essay test that is adapted to disaster preparedness indicators. The results show that BDLM integrated blended learning has an effect on knowledge of disaster preparedness. The experimental group appears to have superior knowledge of disaster preparedness with superiority in all indicators of knowledge of disaster preparedness. There is no significant effect between gender differences, because the treatment does not discriminate between gender. The interaction between BDLM learning and gender has a significant effect due to BDLM is a medium that focuses on learning activities not on the treatment of gender differences. The perceived impact is that using BDLM can increase disaster preparedness knowledge. Therefore it is necessary to apply it to prospective geography teachers more broadly.

Abstract

Students should be the primary beneficiaries of teachers' TPACK proficiency. This study aimed to investigate the proficiency of pre-service geography teachers in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) through the lens of student perceptions. TPACK, a framework that integrates technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge, is crucial for effective teaching in the digital age. By understanding students' perceptions, this research sought to identify areas where pre-service teachers excel and where they might need further development. The respondents of this research were public high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri/SMAN) students from Langsa City, Aceh Province. The number of respondents involved was 184 students. They came from SMAN 2 Langsa, SMAN 4 Langsa, and SMAN 5 Langsa where the pre-service teacher was placed during their teaching practice. The research method used is quantitative descriptive based on a questionnaire which aims to measure TPACK proficiency in pre-service geography teachers according to student perception. The results of the study showed that pre-service teachers' TPACK proficiency was very good based on the respondents' perspectives, especially in the aspects of pedagogy and geography content knowledge. However, technological knowledge has results at the good level, which is lower than the other two aspects. Based on these results, the recommendation offered is that the technological capabilities of pre-service geography teachers should to be improved to provide a better learning experience for students.

Abstract

This study examines the disparity in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) levels among high school teachers, distinguishing between rural and urban settings within two regions on the Aceh East Coast, specifically Langsa City and Aceh Tamiang Regency. The research encompasses 560 teachers from both private and public high schools in Langsa City, an urban area, and Aceh Tamiang Regency, a rural area. Data is acquired through the test and questionnaire to capture teachers' TPACK levels. The data analysis used in this research is Global Moran's I and Anselin Local Moran's I to visualize patterns and disparities in teachers' TPACK levels. The research results reveal a significant disparity between urban (Langsa City) and rural (Aceh Tamiang Regency) areas. Langsa City has a random TPACK distribution pattern (Global Moran's I Index = 0,02438), while Aceh Tamiang Regency has a clustered pattern (Global Moran's I Index = 0,17018). This indicates that Aceh Tamiang Regency has higher disparities among high school teachers in TPACK levels compared to Langsa City. Then, Langsa City has better equality in the quality of high school teachers. Furthermore, analysis from Anselin's Local Moran's I reveals a concentration of teachers with the highest TPACK levels in the municipal district and teachers with low TPACK levels in the peripheral area. It can be found in both regions' hot and cold spots. Received: 2024-06-13  Revised: 2024-07-03 Accepted: 2025-06-26 Published: 2025-07-30
