Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the impact of destination image, destination image, perceived value of medical costs, and perceived value of medical facilities and services on the intention to visit Bali as a medical tourism destination. The research used quantitative methodology, employing a survey method. The population consisted of all of domestic tourists who visited Bali. The sample was 87 domestic tourists who came to Bali for medical tourism purposes. The research findings indicate that destination image, perceived value of medical costs, and perceived value of medical facilities and services have an impact on intention to visit Bali for medical tourism. However, the perception of Bali as a destination did not have any impact on tourists' intention to visit for medical tourism purposes. These findings provide both theoretical and practical implication. A collaborative effort involving several parties is necessary to enhance the branding and promotion of medical tourism.

Abstract

Digital marketing has become a critical element in promoting tourism destinations, particularly in attracting young tourists who are highly connected to technology. Sawarna Village in Lebak Regency, Banten, holds significant natural tourism potential, such as beaches and caves, but faces challenges in implementing promotional strategies that align with the digital behavior of the younger generation. This study employs a literature review method to analyze effective digital marketing strategies, focusing on social media, visual content, and influencer engagement. The analysis reveals that creative use of social media, a visual storytelling approach, and collaboration with micro-influencers can enhance the appeal of tourism destinations. Additionally, search engine optimization (SEO) and location-based marketing campaigns play a vital role in improving Sawarna Village's visibility on digital platforms. This study recommends digital skill training for the local community to support destination promotion and foster digital transformation in the rural tourism sector. These findings emphasize the importance of technology-driven marketing strategies to enhance the competitiveness of rural tourism destinations in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research examines the extent to which online reviews influence tourists’ decisions to visit Aloha PIK tourist attractions. Reviews from visitors, in both text and visual forms, serve as a source of information that greatly influences prospective tourists’ perceptions and decisions. This research uses a quantitative method with a sample of 100 Aloha PIK visitors and collects data through an online questionnaire. Based on the test results using simple linear regression, the t-count (15.831) is greater than the t-table value (1.984), and the significance value is 0.000 < 0.05. These results show that the independent variable has a significant effect on the dependent variable. In addition, the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.719 indicates that the research model explains 71.9% of the variance, with the remaining 28.1% attributable to factors outside the model. In conclusion, 71.9% of respondents are influenced by online reviews in their decision to visit Aloha PIK. These findings confirm that managing digital reviews should be an integral part of a tourist destination’s marketing communication strategy. The implications of this research suggest that tourist destination managers should actively monitor, respond to, and manage online reviews as part of their digital marketing strategy. Positive reviews strengthen the destination’s image and encourage interest in visiting, while negative reviews require a measured response to avoid eroding potential tourists’ trust.

Abstract

This study examines how the rapid expansion of the urban culinary industry shapes tourists’ preferences for local and foreign cuisine within the context of urban gastronomic destinations. the research aims to analyse tourist behaviour in selecting culinary offerings in the Blok M area by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework and identifying key determinants influencing such preferences. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using accidental sampling of 111 domestic tourists visiting the area between September and November 2025. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analysed using frequency distribution, mean score analysis, and cross-tabulation techniques to examine relationships between demographic characteristics and culinary preferences. The findings reveal that the culinary landscape in Blok M is predominantly characterised by foreign cuisine (68%), with the majority of respondents (59.5%) expressing a preference for international food options, particularly among younger tourists aged 17–35 years. In contrast, tourists aged above 36 years demonstrate a stronger preference for local cuisine. Based on TPB analysis, perceived behavioural control (mean = 4.31) emerges as the most influential construct in shaping purchase intention, followed by subjective norms (4.19) and attitudes (4.11).

Abstract

This study conducts a sentiment analysis of customer reviews for Ayam Betutu Khas Gilimanuk Cabang Tuban on TripAdvisor, a leading platform for culinary and tourism references, to assess consumer perceptions in the digital era. While prior research has explored online reviews in the restaurant industry, few focus on heritage culinary establishments, leaving a gap this study addresses by analysing 421 reviews (2012–2024) across variables such as rating, comment, and region. Using RStudio, the data underwent text preprocessing (tokenisation, case-folding, stopword removal), sentiment labelling (positive, neutral, negative), and lexicon-based analysis, supplemented by word clouds and temporal trend evaluation. Findings reveal predominantly positive sentiment towards the restaurant’s signature Balinese ayam betutu, though areas like service, cleanliness, and ambience require improvement. Theoretically, the study highlights that product quality alone cannot sustain positive sentiment without complementary service excellence, while practical implications offer actionable strategies for heritage restaurants and regional gastronomy development, bridging digital analytics with culinary heritage preservation.

Abstract

This research aims to systematically review of literature on Bali tourism from 1976 to 2022. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach and utilizes 128 publications with the keyword “tourism in Bali” sourced from the Scopus database. This study concludes that the development of Bali tourism research has increased significantly. The contribution of Indonesian authors continues to dominate Bali tourism research. International authors play an essential role, especially in introducing the study of Bali tourism in the early thirty years. Furthermore, this review was successful in identifying the most commonly used topics, research approaches, and paradigms by researchers. This research, in particular, divides the evolution of the topics into four phases. The study’s sample of articles is restricted to those from the single database Scopus and solely in English. As a result, future research should be able to analyze articles from other sources, and in a broader range of languages.
