Abstract

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education has become an important strategy for developing university students' entrepreneurial intention; however, the underlying mechanisms through which entrepreneurship learning and entrepreneurial mindset influence entrepreneurial intention remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to examine the direct effects of entrepreneurship learning and entrepreneurial mindset on entrepreneurial intention, as well as the mediating role of students' creativity among Economic Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bone, Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory research design with a cross-sectional survey was employed. Data were collected from 65 fifth-semester students who had completed an entrepreneurship course using a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3. The results revealed that entrepreneurship learning had a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial intention (β = 0.459; p = 0.030) and students' creativity (β = 0.421; p = 0.005). Entrepreneurial mindset did not significantly influence entrepreneurial intention directly (β = −0.060; p = 0.782), but it significantly enhanced students' creativity (β = 0.572; p < 0.001). Furthermore, students' creativity significantly influenced entrepreneurial intention (β = 0.596; p = 0.003) and mediated the effects of entrepreneurship learning (β = 0.251; p = 0.049) and entrepreneurial mindset (β = 0.341; p = 0.025) on entrepreneurial intention. These findings demonstrate that creativity is a crucial psychological mechanism through which entrepreneurship learning and entrepreneurial mindset are transformed into entrepreneurial intention. Therefore, higher education institutions should integrate experiential entrepreneurship learning, creativity development, and entrepreneurial mindset enhancement to strengthen students' entrepreneurial intention and prepare graduates to contribute to sustainable regional economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial interest through entrepreneurial motivation in the higher education context. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey design. The population consisted of 546 students, from which 107 respondents were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling to assess the direct and indirect relationships among variables. The findings show that emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship education have a significant effect on entrepreneurial motivation. Entrepreneurial motivation also plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial interest. These results indicate that strengthening students’ emotional intelligence and improving the quality of entrepreneurship education can enhance entrepreneurial interest, particularly when supported by strong entrepreneurial motivation. The study provides practical implications for the development of entrepreneurship curricula and educational programs that are capable of fostering a more entrepreneurial mindset among students in higher education.

Abstract

The development of horticultural agribusiness in highland areas is not determined solely by technical and economic factors, but is also strongly influenced by the social capital possessed by farmers. This study aims to analyze in depth the role of social capital in the development of horticultural agribusiness in the Malino highlands, Gowa Regency. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach through the stages of data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that social capital plays a significant role in the development of horticultural agribusiness. The element of trust is reflected in the fact that approximately 80% of farmers maintain marketing relationships with collectors without written contracts, yet these relationships remain stable and sustainable. This high level of trust reduces transaction costs, accelerates the sale of harvests, and lowers the risk of payment default. Other elements, such as social networks, also play an important role in expanding farmers’ access to production inputs and market information. Around 73% of informants stated that information on prices, seed availability, and fertilizers is obtained through farmer group networks and kinship ties. Farmers who are active in farmer groups demonstrate higher production cost efficiency, with average input cost savings of up to 15% through collective purchasing. Meanwhile, social norms such as mutual cooperation and deliberation remain strongly practiced, particularly in land preparation and harvesting activities. These practices are able to reduce labor costs by up to 20% and strengthen solidarity among farmers. Overall, social capital is proven to contribute to improved business efficiency, marketing stability, and the sustainability of horticultural agribusiness in the Malino highlands, Gowa Regency.
