Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the cost used of forest harvesting activities which consist of logging, skidding, loading, hauling, and unloading using the Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) technique in the natural forest of PT. Wijaya Sentosa, West Papua. Tools used for this research are stationaries, calculators, and laptop. The data that needs to be collected for cost analysis consists of productivity data as primary data that had taken beforehand, secondary data from the company consist of tree species, tree ages, price of heavy equipment, fuel and lubricant usage data, parts replacement data, and operator wage data. The results obtained from this study are the details of estimated production costs for skidding activities amounting to 101,791 IDR/m3, 5,978 IDR/m3 for loading activities, 3,714 IDR/m3 for unloading activities, and 42,767 IDR/m3 for transportation activities. The total cost of harvesting from logging to transportation is 168,750 IDR/m3.

Abstract

This study aims to determine charcoal briquette value and nutrient content of compost derived from land clearing waste on peat land in an effort to control forest and land fires that occured on peatlands. This research was carried out in a wetland area located in North Landasan Ulin, Liang Anggang sub-district, Banjar Regency because each year this location always experiences forest fires, because there are land clearing activities for plantation and agricultural activities by the community as a whole and integrated various aspects. The object of this study is Bricket and compost that made from land cleaning waste such as tree stumps, branches and twigs that used for briquette, while ferns, litter and grass were used to make compost. Based on the results of laboratory tests on the charcoal of briquette and nutrient content of compost it is known that the average of charcoal briquette value is 6.180,41 cal/gr which meet calorific value standard of charcoal briquette made in Japan which ranges from 6.000-7.000 cal/gr and Indonesian National Standard (SNI 01-6235-2000) for charcoal briquettes which is at least 5000 cal/gr, but does not fulfilled to English Standards (7.300 kal/gr) and America Standards (6.500 cal/gr). The average nutrient content of compost produced from land opening waste is N-total of 2,086%; P2O5 of 1,63%; K2O of 1,19%; ratio of C/N of 8,72 and moisture content of 24,11 (%) .

Abstract

This study aims to study the characteristics of briquettes from rice straw and rice husks in the form of moisture content, density, ash content, flight substance content, and heating value with different mixing variations in an effort to overcome the occurrence of deep forest / land fires to control forest or land fires in wetland areas by innovating and utilizing technology of straw and rice husks from post-harvest waste.  The test results showed, the characteristic values are not much different for each mixing variation and are still below the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 1-6235-2000, namely The heating value ranges from 2729.33 - 3492.14 cal/g (SNI ≥ 5000 cal/g), bonded carbon content ranges from 2.3524 -12.5870% (SNI ≥ 77%), ash content ranges from 27.3367 -29.8367% (SNI ≤ 8%) and the moisture content ranges from 18.2130 -28.8903% (SNI ≤ 8%). This is presumably due to the large content of the adhesive used, the pressing and drying processes that cause high water content, because high water content will cause a low calorific value. Low heating value will cause a large amount of ash content which causes a low value of bound carbon. However, overall charcoal briquettes from rice husks and rice straw can be applied to the community as a technological innovation that can be used in the use of post-harvest waste in an effort to control forest and land fires with land processing without burning.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a study of the quality value of briquettes made from mixing straw and rice husks which include a flame test and combustion rate which is expected to be used to educate people around the forest by providing innovation and technology regarding the use of post-harvest waste. The results showed that the value of the quality of briquettes made from variations in the mixing of straw and rice husks including the flame test of the combustion rate obtained results, for treatment A (100% straw) of 0.68 gr/minute, treatment B (100% husk) of 0 ,57 gr/minute, treatment C (Husk 75% + Straw 25%) was 0.40 gr/minute, treatment D (Husk 25% + Straw 75%) was 0.46 r/minute and treatment E (Husk 50% + Straw 50%) of 0.43 gr/minute. The value of the flame to boiling time for treatment A = 38.62 minutes, treatment B = 31.05, treatment C = 23.22 minutes, treatment D = 36.05 and treatment E = 27.95 minutes. Density values of all treatments, and the water content for treatment B and treatment C can meet SII. While other parameters: ash content, volatile matter, bound carbon and calorific value still cannot meet the standards, so it is recommended to carry out further research with other variations of treatment, in order to obtain briquettes with quality that can meet the standards.

Abstract

Penelitian perencanaan sosial pengelolaan pantai Tanjung Dewa merupakan penelitian lanjutan dari penelitian potensi dan strategi pengembangan pantai Tanjung Dewa berbasis masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang sikap, pengetahuan dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap pantai Tanjung Dewa. pengelolaan dan pengembangan pantai Tanjung Dewa menjadi kawasan Ekowisata yang datanya dapat dijadikan acuan dalam perencanaan sosial terkait pengelolaan berkelanjutan pantai Tanjung Dewa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan di Desa Tanjung Dewa, Kecamatan Panyipatan, Kabupaten Tanah Laut. Data primer diperoleh dari hasil wawancara semi terstruktur dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Selain itu, wawancara mendalam juga dilakukan terhadap masyarakat awam dan tokoh kunci (kepala desa) yang tinggal di wilayah penelitian. Hampir seluruh responden menunjukkan sikap yang baik terhadap pengembangan pantai Tanjung Dewa menjadi kawasan ekowisata. Namun tingginya sikap responden tidak dibarengi dengan perilakunya terhadap pengembangan tempat wisata tersebut, didukung oleh rendahnya pengetahuan mereka terhadap ekowisata. Perlu dilakukan sosialisasi/sosialisasi dan pendampingan kepada masyarakat setempat mengenai kegiatan pengembangan dan pengelolaan ekowisata di Pantai Tanjung Dewa sehingga akan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan partisipasi mereka.
