Abstract

Defense diplomacy has further developed into a new form of diplomacy in international relations, which is supported by various forms of technology and also the development of social media. This research study aims to explore how this new form of diplomacy shapes international relations more broadly, as well as to determine whether defense diplomacy effectively promotes cooperation and stability among states in the context of security and defense. Then find the challenges and opportunities of defense diplomacy in the modern era. The research used mixed methods research by analyzing 244 scientific articles based on the Scopus database, Google Sholar, and Web of Science. In addition, this research also analyzed the data obtained from the VOSviewer tool. This study reveals that defense diplomacy has emerged in various forms of diplomacy, also defense diplomacy affects interactions of international relations and influences the construction of norms, identities, and interests in the international system. In terms of norms, defense diplomacy can help promote international norms related to security and defense, such as human rights and international law. In terms of identity, defense diplomacy can shape national identity in terms of defense and security. In terms of interests, defense diplomacy can influence national interests and security through cooperation in defense and reaching regional and international security agreements. Defense diplomacy brings changes in the form of building cooperation, reducing tensions, improving defense capabilities, and promoting human rights principles and international law. Through defense diplomacy, countries can strengthen international cooperation in security and defense and build strong relationships between countries. In the long run, this can help reduce tensions between countries and promote stability around the world.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Abraham Accords on Palestine and the views of Middle Eastern Islamic countries towards the agreement. This topic is important and exciting because the Abraham Accord is a peace agreement and the normalization of relations between several Middle Eastern countries and Israel, influencing the regional political map. Data collection in this article used Harzing Publish or Perished. The data collected was then classified, reduced and analyzed using Nvivo 12 plus. The authors found that the Abraham Accord positively influences countries that build agreements with Israel. However, it is detrimental to Palestine because it strengthens Israel's presence in the region. Therefore, besides several countries that support the agreement, there are also several countries that consider this agreement not beneficial for Palestine, including other Islamic countries, especially in the Middle East Region

Abstract

This article analyses the influence of the use of social media among terrorist groups toward the development of terrorism in Indonesia. This research is crucial and interesting because the development of social media could be a prominent tool for a particular person or one group’s existence. Data were collected through literature reviews and studies on social media publications on the issue. The collected data were checked, classified, and analysed by using Nvivo plus 12. Based on the data analysis, it was found that terrorist groups have already used various social media such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp to recruit, share their ideologies, and spread their threats towards people. Each activity has its target and steps to strengthen their existences. These groups have implemented artificial intelligence (AI) by arranging the content management strategy for using social media within their groups or collaborating with other terrorist organisations' links. The result of this study could be the consideration of government policies in facing the development of terrorist groups, primarily which exist in social media.

Abstract

Introduction. The issue of terrorism in Indonesia has been a challenge around the world, particularly in a country with the world's largest Muslim population. This study aims to evaluate the trend of publications on the issue of terrorism in Indonesia in the period starting from 1980 to 2022 through a bibliometric analysis. Data Collection Methods. Data were obtained from the Scopus database using the keywords "terrorism", "terrorist", "terror", and "Indonesia". Data Analysis. The VOSviewer data visualization was used as a data analysis tool to show the trends in publications on terrorism issues in Indonesia. Results and Discussion. The publication trend on terrorism in Indonesia significantly increased, with distribution countries dominated by Indonesia including authors, affiliates, and sponsors. In addition, publications on the issue of terrorism in Indonesia were widely written in journal articles, particularly in the field of social sciences. Conclusion. The issue of terrorism in Indonesia is dynamic. This research may be used to update the understanding of current terrorism issues in Indonesia, particularly from bibliometric analysis.

Abstract

This article elaborates the opportunities and challenges of the Islamic revivalist movement in post-reform Indonesia since the opportunity to express the notions is opened. The issue of revivalism is not only developed in Indonesia, but also an important issue in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, and other regions. This can be seen from various studies on Islamic revivalism that occurred in various areas. Even the Islamic revivalism was actually initiated at the end of the nineteenth century by Jamaluddin al-Afghani, whose passion was continued by his disciple Muhammad Abduh. The author will explain how the challenge of the rise of Islam in Indonesia after the reformation. Therefore, the author provides a study of literature and interviews with the experts consisted of 10 people of scholars and activists of Islamic revivalism movement conducted. Based on this research, there is an indication that the Islamic revivalism movement has great opportunities and challenges in post-Indonesian reformation. Some of the opportunities for the development of Islamic revivalism movement in Indonesia are the historical factor, acculturalization through educational institutions, and the Islamization policies in some regions. On the other hand, the challenges found are the challenges of public opinion, the lack of optimal tools for multicultural dialogue, the decline of political support, the conflict among Muslims, the lack of professionalism, and the secularism. Regarding these conditions, some of the Islamic revivalism movements adapted themselves to adjust political developments in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ideologi Taliban terhadap dinamika konflik di Afghanistan. Penulis menggunakan metode studi kepustakawan yang mana data sekunder didapatkan melalui penyedia jurnal artikel seperti google scholar dan oxford academic. Harzing Publish and Perish juga menjadi aplikasi tambahan yang digunakan penulis kemudian dimasukkan ke Mendeley dan diubah menjadi data RIS. Data RIS yang didapatkan dimasukan ke dalam software Vosviewer yang menampakan penggambaran data yang mencakup pembahasan terbanyak terkait topik Taliban. Menggunakan teknik studi Pustaka, serta pengaplikasikan Harzing yang berfungsi sebagai penyedia dasar analisis data, dan juga VOSviewer sebagai aplikasi pembantu menganalisis data dan menemukan data terkait Pengaruh Ideologi Taliban Terhadap Dinamika Konflik di Afghanistan. Temuan artikel menunjukan bahwa Afghanistan dibawah kekuasaan Taliban mengalami dinamika konflik yang berkepanjangan dan efeknya pada pengaruh internal dan eksternal. pengaruh internal yaitu krisis ekonomi, kesenjangan gender, kekerasan hingga pembunuhan. Adapun pengaruh eksternal mengalami pemutusan hubungan diplomatik, pemberhentian bantuan Internasioanal pemotongan terhadap bantuan sipil dan keamanan, pembekuan cadangan internasional Afghanistan, dan Inflasi.

Abstract

This article discusses the implications of the Gulen Movement toward the education system in Germany. This research used a descriptive method to describe a phenomenon. This study was a qualitative research technique that analyzes data based on text and images. Data collection uses library research techniques or literature studies from various sources, namely journals, books, and news portals. Data or journals collection used Publish or Perish. The Gulen movement is spread across many countries. This research focuses on Germany and its implications on the education system in Germany. The results of this study are that Gulen-based schools in Germany does not have full implications for the education system in Germany, but they are easily accepted because they have the same educational value.

Abstract

This article analyzes the trend of international publications related to the Muslim Brotherhood using the Scopus database. This study aims to determine the publication trends by region, subject area of publication, type of publication, number of documents for each author, and number of papers for each university. The data collected by the authors were taken from the search results in the Scopus database with a combination of the keywords "Ikhwanul Muslimin or Muslim Brotherhood" with the categories of article titles, article abstracts, and article keywords in the publication period of 1954 - 2023. Based on this search, the authors found 738 scientific publication documents related to the Muslim Brotherhood. The studies conducted in 2023 were 17 publications, and the highest number found by the authors was 69 scientific publications (9.3%) in 2016. The United States became the most productive country or region in scientific publications with 175 papers (23.7%). The most prolific authors are Ardovini and Brooke with eight articles. Bar-Ilan University became the affiliate with the most publications with 15 publications. Based on these results, the study of the Muslim Brotherhood became a contemporary study that has attracted the interest of researchers.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss how the European Union and Turkey deal with the Syrian refugee crisis. The research method used in this study was a systematic literature review using 504 scientific articles sourced from the Scopus database. In reviewing the articles, the authors used the Vosviewer application. The results revealed that Syrian refugees were accommodated correctly and facilitated properly and contributed to the problem by providing insight into digital literacy, information needs, and strategies among Syrian and Iraqi refugees entering Europe and changing perspectives on migrants and refugees as passive victims of this event made to make Syrian refugee decisions to stay in Germany, in an econometric strategy based on estimating models of equality in social unity, economic integration and the decision to stay. The results contribute to developing a research roadmap on the Syrian internecine crisis in Turkey and the European Union and contribute to international relations science. Turkey and the European Union. Subsequent research must use scientific articles from other reputable international databases, such as Web of Science and Dimensions Scholars.

Abstract

This research aims to navigate the result of international publication trends regarding the Taliban for 27 years, starting from 1994 to 2021, utilizing a bibliometric analysis study that analyzed trends in international publications based on quantitative data sources obtained through one of the Scopus data search engines. In addition, bibliometric analysis in this study employed a data visualization software VOSviewer to analyze keywords that often appear in research data regarding the trend of international publications of the Taliban. The findings in this bibliometric analysis study indicated three outcomes. Firstly, numerous international publications on the Taliban as a research topic were navigated, accounting for 1,538 publication documents based on the Scopus data search engine with the keyword "Taliban". Secondly, the results of data visualization on VOSviewer show that the largest keywords visualization are Afghanistan and the Taliban. Lastly, the trend of international publications regarding the Taliban indicated that the highest trend of international publications was in 2010-2011 with publication documents are mainly conducted by researchers in western countries, along with the most funding sponsors were the United States and the United Kingdom. This study concluded that the results of international publication trends regarding the Taliban were influenced by the activities executed by the Taliban receiving global attention throughout time. Hence, the novelty of this study lies in the implementation of bibliometric analysis, presenting a dynamic topic about the Taliban and the data search tools used.
