Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in elementary schools through the application of the cooperative learning model Team Games Tournament (TGT) combined with puzzle media. TGT is a well-known learning strategy that encourages student participation by blending competition and collaboration, which has proven effective in various educational contexts. This classroom action research involved 30 fifth-grade students at SDN Ketabang 1, Surabaya. The research was conducted in two cycles, where TGT and puzzle media were used to teach science topics related to the human eye. Results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with average student scores increasing from 55% in the pre-cycle to 85% by the end of the second cycle. Moreover, students’ engagement and social skills, such as teamwork and communication, were positively impacted. The study demonstrates that combining TGT with interactive media like puzzles not only enhances academic performance but also fosters a collaborative and engaging learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes in spatial geometry material for class V-C students of SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya through the use of concrete media. The subjects of this study were class V-C students of SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya consisting of 25 students. The method used in this study was collaborative classroom action (PTKK) which was carried out in two cycles. In cycles I and II, learning was carried out with a focus on the elements of cube and cuboid spatial geometry using concrete media. The results showed an increase in the percentage of learning completion from 52% to 88% in cycle II, with the average learning outcomes of students increasing from 71.2 to 91.2. This shows that the use of improved concrete media and group learning can increase student activity and understanding. It can be concluded that there was an increase in mathematics learning outcomes in spatial geometry material using concrete media for class V-C students of SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya.

Abstract

Pelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika dalam materi bangun ruang dan sifat-sifatnya dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran berupa ular tangga. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Sekolah Dasar Kelas IV A sebanyak 30 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, tes tertulis dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan menerapkan media permainan ular tangga. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari peningkatan persentase hasil belajar peserta pendidikan sebelum penerapan media permainan ular tangga hanya 40% sedangkan setelah diterapkan naik menjadi 83%. Oleh karena itu, dengan adanya penerapan media permainan ular tangga dalam pembelajaran matematika menjadi salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik. Melalui pembelajaran menggunakan media permainan ular tangga, siswa berusaha mengikuti Arahan dari guru dalam bermain dan berusaha memahami materi dengan sungguh-sungguh agar bisa menjawab pertanyaan pada kartu soal ketika bermain. Hal tersebut dapat memotivasi siswa untuk berpartisipsi aktif dalam pembelajaran agar memperoleh hasil belajar yang baik.
