Abstract

Modern retail is a way for companies to retail their products to final consumers for personal needs. Batam City is one of the cities that has a permit to establish a modern retail business, one of which is Indomaret. This study found a problem, namely a decrease in the number of customers in the last 3 years at 3 Indomaret stores in Batam City. The purpose of this study is to describe forms of communication and promotion in maintaining Indomaret customer loyalty in Batam City. This research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews using purposive sampling method. The research analysis used the credibility test and the transferability test. The results of this study found several factors causing a decrease in the number of Indomaret customers in Batam City, including bad customer experience so that customers were disappointed such as unfriendly service, employees who were not focused and less creative in delivering promotions, product prices did not match the price tags displayed, long service or long queues, internal employee factors that affected sales declines such as not understanding the target market.

Abstract

Since the beginning of human civilization, communication has been crucial in exchanginginformation among individuals, groups, and nations. Digital communication, such as textmessaging, voice calls, emails, social media, and in-game instant messaging applications likeMobile Legends, facilitates real-time symbolic interactions across the globe. While providingbenefits, the use of these new media has also led to a decline in societal values and norms,including the emergence of verbal violence in digital communication, involving demeaning,insulting, or threatening language directed towards individuals or groups.This research aims touncover the issue of verbal violence in digital communication. The study involves the MobileLegends Squads Project TRV Community in the City. The researcher employs data collectiontechniques such as interviews and observation, and the findings reveal that digital communicationwithin gaming groups like "Mobile Legends" influences group dynamics and the well-being of itsmembers. Verbal violence in this game has negative impacts, and the moderators of the "MobileLegends" gaming groups play a crucial role in upholding communication ethics and handlingconflicts

Abstract

Drugs pose a serious threat to society. Th e Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Islands Regional Police plays a crucial role in efforts to prevent and combat drug trafficking in the region. This research aims to examine the communication strategies employed by the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Islands Regional Police in drug prevention and control. The study adopts qualitative research methods with a narrative study approach. Data is collected through in-depth interviews with officers and officials from the Directorate of Drug Investigation, as well as documentation related to the implemented communication strategies. The research also draws upon the system theory developed by Ludwig von Bertalanffy. The research findings indicate that the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Islands Regional Police has implemented various communication strategies in their efforts to prevent and combat drug trafficking. The study concludes that effective and sustainable communication strategies are key in the prevention and control of drug trafficking.

Abstract

Film is a new form of media that is used to provide technical information to the public as wellas traditional forms of entertainment. The movie "Miracle in Cell No. 7" in Indonesian depictselements of miraculous and good fortune, which is an intriguing subject to research. Thisstudy used descriptive research, which strives to provide methodical, factual, and accurateexplanations of the facts as well as connections between the phenomena underinvestigation. Roland Barthes' semiotics analysis, which includes the film's connotations,denotations, and myths, was used to conduct qualitative research on the moral themes inthe Indonesian version of "Miracle in Cell No. 7"

Abstract

A film is a form of visual art that utilizes moving images and sound to convey a story or message. The film "Belok Kanan Barcelona" (2018) focuses on the theme of friendship within the context of a journey undertaken by a group of students in Barcelona. This study aims to describe the results of the analysis of signifiers and signifieds and to reveal the meaning of the message of friendship through a descriptive qualitative approach, using Ferdinand De Saussure's theory. The data collection methods employed include observation, documentation, and literature study, with the object of research being the film "Belok Kanan Barcelona." The results of the study indicate that there are four main components of friendship in the film, namely trust and support, openness and presence, loyalty and sacrifice, and acceptance and understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the marketing communication strategies employed by Vio-Vio Beach in building brand awareness and identifying supporting and hindering factors. The study utilizes a qualitative method, conducting interviews with respondents and focusing questions on relevant topics. Informants are selected using purposive snowball sampling until data saturation is achieved, and the research also references the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) theory developed by Kotler and Armstrong. Findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok are effective in increasing brand exposure and engaging followers. Additionally, special events and online contests contribute positively to Vio-Vio Beach's image. However, challenges include intense competition, susceptible online reputation, unpredictable environmental conditions, and accessibility limitations. With focused and collaborative strategies, Vio-Vio Beach has successfully built a strong brand awareness and increased tourist visits, though ongoing efforts are required to overcome barriers and sustain competitiveness in the tourism industry. Abstract

Social media is very important for the people of Batam City because it is useful in providing information quickly, efficiently and accurately through various communication channels used by organizations, companies and the government. Social media has become an important communication tool in the digital era, enabling the dissemination of information in real-time and reaching a wide audience. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach involving observation, content analysis, and interviews with Diskominfo and Instagram users in Batam City. The research results show that technological developments encourage Diskominfo to adopt Instagram as an effective and efficient communication tool in conveying important information to the public. Visual content such as infographics, videos and interactive stories can attract attention and increase public engagement. Consistent post scheduling strategies and the use of interactive features, such as live streaming and Q&As, also play an important role in increasing engagement. The challenges faced include increasing digital literacy and information accessibility for all levels of society. In conclusion, in an era of rapid technological development, Instagram has become a vital medium for the Batam City Diskominfo in supporting effective communication between the government and the community.

Abstract

This study aims to learn more about how BPJS Kesehatan is implemented in the field in responding to complaints through Instagram social media. The objectives of this study are: 1. to determine the BPJS Kesehatan Service Communication strategy in responding to public complaints through Instagram social media, 2. to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors for providing BPJS Kesehatan communication services in responding to public complaints through Instagram social media. The theories used in this study are New Media Theory and Public Service Theory. New Media Theory and Public Service Theory are still often applied in research, which is the reason why researchers continue to research this theory. This study uses a qualitative research method. The results of this study show how new media is formed through various forms of communication and media that develop with digital technology and the internet. In the context of BPJS Kesehatan, the use of social media platforms such as Instagram to communicate with the public, utilizing interactive features such as comments, DM (Direct Message), and Stories to interact directly and quickly with the public. Instagram makes it easy for BPJS Kesehatan to interact in real-time with users, increasing the level of interconnectedness between service providers and the public. Two-way interaction through comments and direct messages allows direct feedback from the public and a quick response from BPJS Kesehatan. Informative and educational content is delivered through posts, infographics, videos, and Stories, which not only convey information but also build a narrative that brings BPJS Kesehatan closer to users, increasing understanding and awareness of the services provided

Abstract

The purpose of this study : (1). To know communication behavior of Sundanese immigrant in majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community, (2) To know the adaptation of economic, social and cultural of Sundanese immigrant in majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community, (3). To know the relationship between communication behaviour Sundanese immigrant with the adaptation of economic, social, and cultural in majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community. This study uses a quantitative paradigm that is descriptive and correlational. There are two variables used in this research that is communication behavior and adaptation of economic, social and cultural of Sundanese immigrant in majelis ta’lim babul akhirat community. Communication behavior of ethnic Sundanese entrants focused on finding information related to the economy, social and cultural information in the context of adaptation through the majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community. Research was conducted on the Sundanese immigrants who are members of the majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community where the secretariat at Bengkong Aljabar, Batam and were selected purposively. Sampling method using census numbered 82 people. This study uses Rank Spearman statistical analysis technique that is using SPSS 19.0 for windows. The results showed (1). Communication behavior of Sundanese immigrant in majlis taklim was 43% at the high category. (2). Adaptation of the economy was 40% into so often category, social adaptation was 42% into often category, cultural adaptation was 39% into often category. (3). There is a positive and significant  relationship between Sundanese immigrant communication behavior with economic, social, and cultural adaptation in majelis ta’lim Babul Akhirat community.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly changed how young people access and manage information. Instagram, as a widely used social media platform, is strategically used by government agencies to distribute digital literacy content, including through the @literasidigitalkominfo account. This study examines the effect of such content on the information-seeking behavior of its followers. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 397 respondents selected with Slovin’s formula. Data were analyzed with simple linear regression. A structured questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale was tested for validity, reliability, and classical assumptions. Results show that digital literacy content positively and significantly influences information-seeking behavior, with a regression coefficient of 0.501 and an R Square of 0.555. This indicates that 55.5% of the behavior variation can be explained by the content’s credibility, shareability, appeal, and relevance. These findings highlight the importance of strategic digital content in encouraging followers to engage actively in information seeking—starting from initiation to focus formulation. The study supports the applicability of New Media Theory and Information Seeking Theory in understanding digital behavior in the modern media landscape.
