Abstract

Most of the vibration isolator has fixed stiffness such as passive vehicle mounting system. Objective of this research is to develop a Magneto-rheological Elastomer (MRE) as a vibration isolator when different currents are applied to get different stiffness of the MRE. A MRE was fabricated by mixing silicon rubber, silicon oil and carbonyl iron particles together and then cured for 24 hours in a circular mold. Experimental result shows that that there were decreases in amplitude of the vibration in time and frequency domains when the current applied to the coil is increased.

Abstract

One of the problems in the distribution of electrical power is the identification of the location of the disturbance in the distribution network of pt pln. Several methods have been proposed to determine the location of the disturbance including the nearest neighbor method, impedance method and nave bayes method, in this study the author proposes the naïve bayes method. The naïve bayes method is a classification method based on simple probability and is designed to be used with the assumption that between one class and another class are not mutually dependent (independent). In the naïve bayes classification, the learning process is more focused on estimating probabilities. From the results of the experiment using 30 samples, the average error value for comparison of identification using the nave bayes method and the direct tracing method in identifying the location of disturbances in the buagan feeder was 0.86% with an average difference between the actual distance and the distance in the program of 30.9 meters. . The results of the comparative analysis using paired samples statistics showed no significant difference at 0.05. In the results of the comparative analysis using anova one way at 0.01 there is no significant difference. This study serves to narrow the direct line area for handling electrical disturbances on the 20 kv network, so that in the event of an electrical disturbance on the 20 kv network it does not take a long time in the process of identifying the location of the electrical disturbance.

Abstract

The increasing number of materials with variation in properties, especially hard-to-cut, leads to the need for an advanced machining method to process such material. Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is one of the advanced machining methods widely used for hard-to-cut alloys. The EDM process uses an electrode as the conductor of electrical current to erode the metal alloys and is supported by other components. Due to EDM's high cost and high energy consumption, developing a low-cost EDM and simpler EDM setup is necessary, especially for educational purposes in laboratory activity. However, the EDM design and setup required to produce the desired “spark” have always been a challenge for researchers and manufacturers. In this research, a small-scale EDM setup was built. A solenoid actuator is used to generate simple mechanical movement. The movement is used to control the gap between the workpiece and the electrode to produce a spark. The solenoid actuator is used because of its low cost and simple mechanism. The proposed EDM setup is successfully fabricated and works appropriately by generating sparks and a hole cavity during the process. There are six cavity holes produced in mild steel workpiece during the experiments with various parameters such as current (5A, 7A, and 10A) and frequency (10 Hz and 20 Hz). The varied parameter shows that the higher current and lower frequency removed more materials. In contrast, the higher frequency produced a better quality of the cavity hole. However, the lack of flushing quality on the material debris during the process results in the formation of excess metals around the edge of the hole.

Abstract

Induction motor is electromechanical equipment that is widely used in various industrial applications. The research paper presents the detection of the defect to three-phase induction motor bearing using discrete wavelet transforms and artificial neural networks to detect whether or not the motor is damaged. An experimental test rig was made to obtain data on healthy phase currents or damaged bearings on the induction motor using the motor current signature analysis (MCSA) method. Several mother-level wavelets are chosen on the wavelet method from the obtained current signal. The feature of the wavelet results is used as an input of the Artificial Neural Network to classify the condition of the induction motor. The results showed that the system could provide an accurate diagnosis of the condition of the induction motor.

Abstract

Non-destructive testing is a wide group of analysis techniques used in science and industry to evaluate the properties of a structure without causing damage to it. The main objective of this project is to carry out experiment to detect leakage in pipeline using nonlinear acoustic modulation method. The nonlinear acoustic modulation approach with low frequency excitation and high frequency acoustic wave is used to reveal modulations in the presence of leak. The pipe used in this experiment was galvanized iron pipe. The experiment is started with the experiment of undamaged specimen and followed by the experiment of damaged specimen with manually applied leak. The results obtained are being observed and the difference between the specimen without leak and with leak can be distinguished. The distance of the leak and the distance of the outlet detected is nearly accurate to the exact location which is leak at 4.0 m and outlet at 6.0 m. Therefore, the results demonstrate that leakage can be detected using nonlinear acoustic modulation, and proved the objective of distinguish the difference between the results of specimen without leak and with leak has succeeded. The damage detection process can be eased with the knowledge on the signal features.

Abstract

This project discuss about the defect detection of plastic pipe by using nonlinear acoustic wave modulation method. Nonlinaer acoustic modulations are investigated for fatigue crack detection. It is a sensitive method for damage detection and it is based on the propagation of high frequency acoustic waves in plastic pipe with low frequency excitation. The plastic pipe is excited simultaneously with a slow amplitude modulated vibration pumping wave and a constant amplitude probing wave. The frequency of both the excitation signals coincides with the resonances of the plastic pipe. An actuator is used for frequencies generation while sensor is used for the frequencies detection. Besides that, a PVP pipe is used as the specimen as it is commonly used for the conveyance of liquid in many fields. The results obtained are being observed and the difference between uncrack specimen and cracked specimen can be distinguished.

Abstract

Service mobile robot is playing a more critical role in today's society as more people such as a disabled person or the elderly are in need of mobile robot assistance. An autonomous person following ability shows great importance to the overall role of service mobile robot in assisting human. The objective of this paper focuses on developing a robot follow a person. The robot is equipped with the necessary sensors such as a Microsoft Kinect sensor and a Hokuyo laser sensor. Four suitable tracking methods are introduced in this project which is implemented and tested on the person following algorithm. The tracking methods implemented are face detection, leg detection, color detection and person blob detection. All of the algorithms implementations in this project is performed using Robot Operating System (ROS). The result showed that the mobile robot could track and follow the target person based on the person movement.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKesehatan manusia semakin hari kurang diperhatikan seiring menambahnya presentase perokok di Indonesia pada tiap tahunnya. Minimnya  menjaga kesehatan hingga berdampak adanya penyakit dalam tubuh menjadi masalah yang sering ditemui. Salah satu hal yang dapat mengganggu kesehatan ialah merokok. Perokok aktif ataupun perokok pasif  mempunyai bahaya kesehatan. Banyak orang tidak mempedulikan dampak buruk dari asap rokok tersebut. Meningkatnya perokok yang malas untuk mengecek kesehatan sendiri dengan banyak alasan. Maka peneliti menciptakan sistem pakar diagnosa penyakit pada perokok aktif menggunakan metode forward chaining berbasis web. Sistem ini diciptakan dengan maksud agar pengguna dapat mendiagnosa penyakit sedari dini, juga menunjukan informasi terkait penyakit yang dapat diidap jika terpapar asap rokok. Aplikasi  ini diciptakan untuk menganalisa keinginan yang dibutuhkan, misalnya informasi gejala, sakit, dan penangannya. Kesimpulan observasi menunjukan sistem ini bisa mempermudah perokok maupun khalayak untuk memberitahu diagnose pertama mengenai sakit yang diidap, juga menginfokan lebih banyak pengetahuan terkait sakit yang ditemui dengan presentase   83.4%.

Abstract

Pertukaran pelajar merupakan salah satu kegiatan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Pendidikan tinggi menuntut Perguruan tinggi untuk dapat menambah cara bepikir (mindset), sikap dan perilaku (attitude and behaviour), serta menyikapi dalam menyelesaikan sesuatu (way of doing things) para civitas akademika. Sehingga perguruan tinggi dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang adaptif dan tangguh menghadapi perubahan dan masa depan. Berdasarkan hasil survei tracer study Program Studi (Prodi) Teknik Elektro tahun 2017-2019 bahwa kemampuan berkomunikasi, berbahasa asing dan penguasaan teknologi belum tinggi. Salah satu aktifitas yang ditawarkan adalah kegiatan pertukaran pelajar Prodi Teknik Elektro dengan mengirimkan beberapa mahasiswa ke Fakulty of Electrical Engineering, UTHM Malaysia sebagai mitra telah dimulai pada tahun 2018. Tujuan kegiatan pertukaran pelajar untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar di luar institusi dengan menjunjung tinggi kesetaraan dalam pembelajaran. Metode pembelajaran yang digunakan sangat beragam, kuliah di kelas, diskusi kelompok hingga pembelajaran berbasis masalah berupa skripsi atau tugas akhir. Hasil dari pertukaran pelajar tersebut adalah menghasilkan karya ilmiah yang telah dipublikasikan di jurnal ilmiah, konferensi nasional/internasional, dan menambah wawasan mahasiswa belajar di luar institusi bahkan di luar negeri.

Abstract

Perkembangan terknologi zaman modern telah mempermudah masyarakat mengakses informasi. Orang tua dapat mengetahui tumbuh kembang anak, jika anak memiliki gangguan gizi maka kemungkinan terbesar kualitas hidup dan lingkungan anak tersebut akan menjadi buruk. Hal ini dapat menimbulkan permasalahan pada anak yakni depresi dan mudah kelelahan saat melakukan aktifitas sehari-hari. Gizi adalah elemen penting dalam kehidupan manusia yang pada dasarnya adalah mendukung pertumbuhan serta memelihara pertahanan tubuh agar jaringan tubuh tidak rusak. Dinegara miskin dan berkembang, masalah gizi khususnya kekurangan asupan makanan bergizi juga masih menjadi persoalan yang utama. Kurang gizi secara potofisiologi pada balita yakni kurangnya asupan energy protein, anemia, kekurangan vitamin A dll. Karena itu peneliti membuat sistem pakar mendeteksi gangguan gizi pada balita menggunakan metode certainty factor. Metode certainty factor ini membantu untuk mengetahui kepastian dan ketidakpastian suatu diagnosa. Sistem ini dibuat untuk memudahkan dalam mendeteksi gangguan gizi pada balita serta memberikan informasi diagnosa sesuai dengan yang dibutuhkan pengguna. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa aplikasi mampu membantu mendeteksi gangguan gizi dan mendapatkan persentase nilai Certainty Factor terbesar yakni 26,5%.
