Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of project learning on student activity in chemistry innovative learning models courses. The research conducted used the experimental method. The results showed that students’ activeness in action was included in the successful category, which is 72.7%, and student activity in understanding the innovative learning model was included in the successful category, which is 63.6%. Student responses to project learning are included in the very successful category at 81.8%. The results of statistical research using partial regression correlation analysis techniques and multiple correlations show a significant positive relationship between project learning and learning effectiveness with a correlation coefficient (ry1) = 0.201. A significant positive relationship exists between student activities in innovative chemistry learning models and learning effectiveness with a correlation coefficient (ry2) = 0.759. There is a significant positive relationship between project learning and student activities and learning effectiveness with a correlation coefficient (ry12) = 0.769. Based on the results of these studies, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of learning can be increased through project learning and student activities.

Abstract

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a photocatalyst material widely used for environmental remediation applications. In this research, TiO2 material was synthesized using the hydrothermal method at various temperatures (150°C, 180°C, and 200°C). Based on the Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) data, it was found that all the synthesized materials showed similar absorption peaks, and Ti-O-Ti bonds were detected, which is a characteristic of TiO2. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that all the synthesized materials were TiO2 anatase with different crystalline sizes. The synthesized TiO2 using the hydrothermal temperature of 180°C showed the smallest crystalline size of 86.81 nm. Based on the analysis of the band gap energy, it was found that wider band gap energy was obtained at higher hydrothermal temperatures. The band gap energies of the synthesized materials are 3.18 eV, 3.19 eV, and 3.21 eV for hydrothermal temperatures of 150°C, 180°C, and 200°C, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the three synthesized materials was tested in the photodegradation experiment of amoxicillin under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. As a result, it was found that TiO2 synthesized at 180°C has the highest photocatalytic activity by degrading 100% of amoxicillin compounds within 120 minutes.

Abstract

One of the most important skills which is needed to face this 21st centurychallenge is critical thinking since it is very important to solve problems. This research is conducted to find out the critical thinking skill of the Science Department students at Universitas Hasyim Asy’ari (UNHASY) Jombang who took Basic Biology. This research is a survey research and conducted during even semester 2018/2019. The number of the research subject is 57 students. The researchers use essay/subjective test as research instrument to measure the students’ critical thinking. Then, the data was analyzed descritively. Based on the research, the researchers found that the students’ critical thinking is at indicator range 2,92 which means undeveloped. The total percentage of students’ critical thinking skill which is at undeveloped level is 49,12% while the other one which is at well developed level is 50,88%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan LKPD berbasis group investigation materi pencemaran lingkungan kelas VII SMP dan mengetahui kelayakan LKPD sebagai bahan ajar. Jenis penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE yaitu: Analysis, Desain, Development, Implementation dan Evaluation. Akan tetapi pada penelitian ini dibatasi hanya sampai pada tahap ketiga yaitu tahap pengembangan (Development). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi dan lembar kepraktisan yang berupa angket respon peserta didik. Lembar validasi digunkan untuk mengetahui kualitas LKPD yang dikembangkan, sedangkan lembar angket respon peserta didik digunakan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar respon peserta didik terhadap LKPD yang dikembangkan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah produk berupa LKPD berbasis group investigation materi pencemaran lingkungan kelas VII SMP. Dari hasil analisis instrument validasi LKPD, LKPD yang dikembangkan berkategori sangat valid dengan tingkat kevalidan 87, 41%. Tingkat kepraktisan LKPD yang diperoleh dari penilaian peserta didik sebesar 90, 98% dengan kategori sangat praktis. LKPD berbasis group investigation dalam penelitian ini layak di implmentasikan. Abstract

Telur bebek merupakan salah satu jenis telur yang banyak dikonsumsi di Indonesia, setelah telur ayam. Karakteristik telur termasuk telur bebek akan mengalami perubahan selama proses penyimpanan. Telur bebek memiliki sifat fisik yang mudah rusak. Cangkang telur bebek memiliki jumlah pori-pori lebih banyak dibandingkan telur ayam sehingga berpeluang lebih besar terkontaminasi bakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengkaji sifat fisik telur bebek selama penyimpanan pada temperatur ruang dan rendah. Karakteristik dari sifat fisik telur bebek yang diukur meliputi weight loss, kerapatan, pH albumen, pH kuning telur, Haugh Unit, dan indeks kuning telur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lama penyimpanan pada temperatur berbeda memiliki dampak pada perubahan sifat fisik telur bebek. Telur bebek yang disimpan pada temperatur ruang mengalami peningkatan weight loss, pH albumen dan pH kuning telur. Sedangkan kerapatan, Haugh Unit, dan indeks kuning telur mengalami penurunan pada temperatur ruang. Sebaliknya telur bebek yang disimpan pada lemari es (8 ℃) menghasilkan weight loss dan pH albumen yang menurun, sedangkan kerapatan, pH kuning telur, Haugh Unit, dan indeks kuning telur mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

The toxicity levels of heavy metals accumulated in water and sediment due to hospital waste discharge not only impact the environment but also pose a significant threat to human health. Long-term accumulation of these metals in the body may lead to degenerative diseases such as cancer. This concern highlights the urgency of conducting laboratory-based experimental research to identify the distribution of heavy metals in aquatic environments caused by hospital waste. The study employs Nile tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus) as a bioindicator, a species capable of absorbing metals through its tissues. The research subjects consisted of 35 Nile tilapia with a body length of 8–12 cm and a weight of 12–15 grams, alongside hospital waste samples collected from three discharge points. Data collection methods included sample preparation of both hospital waste and Nile tilapia, treatment with varying concentrations of lead nitrate (Pb(NO3)2), and maintenance durations of 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. The concentration of Pb in the gills and muscle tissue of the fish was measured using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The analytical data, represented as heavy metal concentrations, were plotted on a graph showing the relationship between concentration variations and maintenance durations and analyzed using One-Way ANOVA with nonparametric Tukey's test. The analysis revealed that the highest Pb concentration was observed in the gills of Nile tilapia on day 28 at 1.57 ppm, while the Pb concentration in muscle tissue reached 0.25 ppm on day 21. According to BPOM standards, Pb levels in Nile tilapia muscle tissue remain within the safe consumption threshold (≤0.3 ppm), whereas Pb levels in the gills exceeded the tolerance limit. This study provides scientific evidence on the risks of heavy metal accumulation in aquatic biota due to hospital waste and underscores the importance of improved waste management practices to safeguard public health and the environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this development is to develop LKPD Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) Cooperative Learning-based worksheets on Class VII Earth Layer Material based on validity tests. The research method used is based on the ADDIE development procedure by describing the feasibility of the LKPD which was developed based on the Validity Test, the LKPD which was developed based on Cooperative Learning type Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) for the material on Layers of the Earth in Class VII. The results of the development carried out produced LKPD in accordance with the suggestions and input from the supervising lecturers and validators from material experts, media experts and science teachers. The results of the validator's assessment of Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) Cooperative Learning-based LKPDs show that the LKPD developed gets an average score of 4.52 for LKPD 1 in the very valid category and 4.39 in the very valid category for LKPD 2.

Abstract

Avocados are one of the important fruit commodities in the world because they have quite high nutritional content. Indonesia is the country with the 5th largest avocado cultivation in the world. Cipedak avocados have recently become popular in cultivation among Indonesian people because they have the advantage of sweet and sticky fruit texture, short productivity, and also their medium size of around 400-600 grams. Avocados have bioactive components such as vitamin C, protein, fiber and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main source for the human body. Carbohydrates contribute 4 kcal. This research aims to measure carbohydrate levels in half-ripe and ripe Cipedak avocados, because the fruit ripening process results in changes in the texture, color and chemical composition of the fruit. Semi-ripe avocados are aged for 5 days, while ripe avocados are aged for 8 days. This analysis uses a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a maximum wavelength. The wavelength used is 575 nm. The results obtained in this study were that ripe fruit had higher carbohydrate levels compared to half-ripe fruit.
