Abstract

The length of stay (LOS) or duration of hospitalization is a key indicator of hospital service quality. Prolonged LOS often signals inefficiencies and can lead to lower patient satisfaction. The core issue in this study is the high percentage of patients dissatisfied with services at the Haji General Hospital Medan citing unresponsive staff and inadequate facilities. This research aims to determine the relationship between LOS and patient satisfaction following hospitalization. A quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study took place at Haji General Hospital Medan, North Sumatra, from January to May 2023. The population included 60 patients treated in the Jabal Rahma and Safa wards, with a purposive sample of 35 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Data were gathered through questionnaires and medical record observations. Patient satisfaction was measured using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, while LOS was recorded from hospital records. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test. Results revealed that 57.1% of patients had a LOS of less than five days, and 60.0% reported being very satisfied with their care. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between LOS and patient satisfaction (p = 0.005 < 0.05). Shorter LOS was correlated with higher satisfaction levels, suggesting more effective medical performance. In conclusion, patients with shorter hospital stays tended to report greater satisfaction, highlighting LOS as a crucial factor in evaluating healthcare service quality. It is recommended that hospitals strive to optimize care efficiency without compromising outcomes. Further research is suggested to explore additional factors affecting satisfaction, such as staff communication and facility adequacy, to improve service delivery Keywords: Length of Stay (LOS), Patient Satisfaction, Hospitalization, Healthcare Quality.

The purpose of this research was to know the determinant to CLHB in elementary school students in Deringo Village Citangkil District Cilegon City Year 2019. Research design is cross sectional. The sample of this research is 107 students of grade 5, where taken using total sampling method. Primary data collection using questionnaires. Secondary data obtained from Citangkil Puskesmas and school. Based on research results obtained as much as 49.5% of students who perform CLHB less, 36, 4% have poor knowledge, 44.9% have a negative attitude, 42, 1% of students said that the teacher support were less and 43, 9% parents support were less. The results of analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between attitudes (pv=0.009), the teachers support (pv = 0,000) and the parents support (pv=0,000) with CLHB in elementary school students. Suggestions from this research are expected that the school can maximize the function of UKS and provide facilities and infrastructures that support CLHB of students.

Abstract

Leptospirosis remains an escalating public health challenge in tropical endemic regions, necessitating a deeper understanding of its localized transmission dynamics. This study aimed to identify the specific individual and environmental risk factors significantly associated with leptospirosis incidence in Serang Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative case-control study was conducted involving 62 respondents, comprising 31 confirmed cases and 31 matched controls. Data were analyzed using bivariate Chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression to determine significant associations and calculate precise odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals. Multivariate analysis revealed that the non-use of personal protective equipment (PPE) was the most dominant risk factor (p=0.026; OR=10.435), followed by poor handwashing habits (p=0.017; OR=4.444), inadequate house gutter conditions (p=0.032; OR=3.906), the presence of rat footprints (p=0.040; OR=3.385), and residing in flood-prone areas (p=0.040; OR=3.385). Conversely, the conditions of household clean water facilities and trash bins demonstrated no statistically significant association with disease incidence in this cohort. A synergistic interplay of micro-environmental hazards and modifiable behavioral deficits drives leptospirosis transmission in this region. Public health interventions must urgently prioritize targeted PPE distribution, rigorous peri-domestic rodent control, and community-level hygiene education to mitigate future outbreak risks effectively.
