Abstract

Piperine is the main alkaloid compound found in various types of pepper, including long pepper (Piper retrofractum Vahl.). Determining the piperine content in natural materials and processed products is important in the context of quality control and pharmaceutical research. The analytical method frequently used for determining piperine content is High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). One critical factor in HPLC analysis is the selection and optimization of the mobile phase. This study aims to optimize the mobile phase in HPLC analysis to determine piperine content. The mobile phases used were acetonitrile:methanol:distilled water (60:10:30) and acetonitrile:methanol:distilled water (65:5:30). The results showed that the optimal mobile phase for determining piperine content using HPLC is a mixture of acetonitrile:methanol:distilled water in the ratio of 65:5:30 (v/v)

Abstract

The occurrence of burns on the skin is a type of injury that requires fast and appropriate treatment in order to achieve an optimal level of healing. Handling burns using medicinal plants can be done. One of the plants that can be used is Jatropha leaves. Jatropha leaves contain active substances such as saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids that are efficacious as antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer and antiinflammatory. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Jatropha curcas leaf extract gel preparations with concentrations of 10%, 15%, 20% on burn wound healing. This study is an experimental study by comparing the effectiveness of burn wound healing in rats in each test group, namely negative control given gel base, positive control given Bioplacenton gel, and three test control groups with each given Jatropha leaf extract gel concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20%. The test results show that the most effective Jatropha leaf extract gel preparation heals rat burns, namely the 20% concentration compared to the positive control with a P>0.914 value (P>0.05).

Abstract

Shampoo is a hair care product that is used to clean the hair and scalp.Shampoo containing natural ingredients can be an alternative for healthy scalp and hair. The saponin content in the kepok banana hump (Musa x paradisiaca L.) can function as a foamer and a combination of coconut oil (Virgin coconut oil) as a moisturizer (emollient). This research aims to formulate and evaluate a shampoo preparation containing banana weevil extract (Musa x paradisiaca L.) and coconut oil (Virgin coconut oil) in the shampoo preparation. This research is an experimental research. In this research, the formulation of kepok banana weevil extract (Musa x paradisiaca L.) 4%, 8% and 12% and coconut oil (Virgin coconut oil) concentrations of 10%, 12% and 15% were carried out. Extract yield was carried out using the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent with a ratio of 1: 7.5. Evaluation of the physical properties of shampoo includes organoleptic observations, pH determination, specific gravity measurement, foam height measurement, viscosity and homogeneity testing.Data analysis was carried out using SPSS. Based on research on kepok banana weevil extract (Musa x paradisiaca L.)a thick, reddish brown colored extract was obtained, with a distinctive slightly sweet aroma with a yield of 11.4445% from 400 grams of dried banana weevil. The results of the phytochemical screening of the thick extract of banana weevils were positive for containing saponin compounds. The test results for shampoo preparations F1, F2 and F3 have a cream to brownish cream color, a liquid texture and a coconut banana smell, homogeneous preparations, pH range 6.72 – 8.23; has a foam height of 1.8 – 2.3 cm; viscosity 216 – 250 dPas and specific gravity 0.9569 – 1.0272 g/mL. The results of analysis using One Way ANOVA showed a p value <0.05 in foam height, pH value and viscosity for the three formulas, there were significant differences. This research shows that the addition of banana weevil extract (Musa x paradisiaca L.) and coconut oil (Virgin coconut oil) affects the characteristics of the shampoo preparation.

Abstract

This community service program (PkM) aimed to empower the youth and congregation of the Isa Almasih Lobak Church in Semarang by leveraging local fishery potential, specifically mackerel, to improve their economic self-reliance. The program was initiated due to the low selling price of fresh fish and the community's lack of knowledge and skills in processing it into value-added products. The method employed was a participatory and holistic approach, starting with a focus group discussion (FGD) to build commitment and identify needs. This was followed by training sessions on technical aspects of fish meatball production, basic financial management, and digital marketing strategies. The main results of the program demonstrated a significant increase in the partners' capacity. Participants successfully mastered hygienic and consistent meatball production techniques and adopted simple technology. Furthermore, they were able to implement basic digital bookkeeping and apply branding and marketing strategies through social media. Overall, this program successfully established a foundation for a sustainable fish meatball business, creating new economic opportunities and enhancing the self-reliance of the partner community by integrating technical, managerial, and marketing skills.

Abstract

Pegel linu herbal medicine is one of the traditional remedies widely consumed by the community to relieve pain and fatigue. The high market demand, particularly through online marketplaces, has the potential to be misused by irresponsible producers by illegally adding pharmaceutical chemicals to enhance therapeutic effects. This study aimed to identify the presence of pharmaceutical adulterants, namely paracetamol, sodium diclofenac, and dexamethasone, in peg el linu herbal medicines circulating in the market using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Ten herbal medicine samples were selected using purposive sampling based on criteria such as the absence of distribution permit numbers or the presence of exaggerated therapeutic claims. The samples were prepared through extraction procedures and analyzed using FTIR-ATR by comparing the sample spectra with reference standards. The results showed that one sample tested positive for paracetamol and one sample tested positive for dexamethasone, while sodium diclofenac was not detected in any of the samples. The presence of pharmaceutical adulterants was identified based on the appearance of characteristic functional groups such as O–H, N–H, and C=O at specific wavenumbers. These findings indicate that some peg el linu herbal medicines circulating in the market still contain illegal pharmaceutical adulterants, which may pose potential health risks to consumers.
