Abstract

Long-term lead (Pb) exposure can affect human health. Used battery recycling is a source of Pb emission, and the smoke from the facility carries Pb particles that accumulate in the soil. This study aimed to determine the concentration of accumulated Pb in the soil around Kadu Manis Battery Recycling Industrial Estate, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, Indonesia in 2018. Soil samples were collected by employing a purposive strategy in four directions from the hot spot at a 0–7.5 km radius. Pb content in the soil was analyzed using a modified version of the official method from American Public Health Association number 3030-H in 2012 and work instructions for metal 01 in 2014. Results showed that the Pb concentration in the soil around this site was below the threshold with an average value of 94.43 mg/kg dry weight and a range of 16.56–279.42 mg/kg dry weight. The soil closest to the facility had the highest Pb concentration. These findings indicated that the management of emission from used battery recycling site must be improved.

Abstract

Lead heavy metal (Pb) contamination increases along with the community-managed waste processing of used lead batteries. People living in the vicinity of the lead smelter are at risk of exposure to lead which can have an impact on health. This study aims to identify the level of lead in the environment around post-closure used battery melting. The research used a quantitative descriptive method approach. Data collection was carried out by interview and sampling test. The test sample was taken purposive at two smelting locations, namely Cinangka Village and Jagabaya Village in Bogor Regency, Indonesia. The results showed that there was still lead exposure in the soil and in the plants around the smelting site. The high lead levels that have been found require measurable remediation action. This is to minimize the risks that can be caused to humans who are active around the used battery smelting site. In addition to having a negative impact in the form of lead exposure, lead smelting also provides economic benefits for workers in a smelter. Involving workers in collecting or sorting used batteries is an alternative after closing the smelting site. Meanwhile, smelting activities are only carried out by authorized smelters.

Abstract

Cratoxylum formosum (Jack) Benth. & Hook.f. ex Dyer is one of the plant species that have the potential to be developed into an antibacterial and antioxidant essential oil product. This study was conducted to determine the value of organoleptic tests and the consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) for the three variants of Cratoxylum formosum essential oil products. For the parameters of colour, hedonic test values and score tests showed good results; panellists did not mind the pure and mixed Cratoxylum formosum essential oil colours. However, for fragrance parameters, the hedonic test showed a dislike score. Most panellists disliked the strong "scent of leaves" of pure C. formosum oil. The score test showed satisfactory values, the panellists accept the fragrance of Cratoxylum formosum essential oil, but it is necessary to add a more preferred scent mixture to reduce the strong original fragrance of the oil. The cost of production of Cratoxylum essential oil is Rp.7,259.23 (USD 0.48)/mL or Rp.72,592.30 (USD 4.84) for every 10 mL. Based on the cost of production, the appropriate selling value for every 10 mL of Cratoxylum essential oil is a minimum of USD 4.84.

Abstract

Air pollution is still a serious problem, especially in big cities in Indonesia. One of the heavy metals that is the source of air pollutant and is very harmful to health and the environment is lead (Pb). Mitigation form that can be done for handling lead air pollution is through tree planting. Therefore, it is important to study the appropriate plant species to be recommended for absorbing lead in the air. This study aims to determine the concentration of lead on the leaves of trees around the Kadu Manis Industrial Region, Tangerang. Measurements of lead concentration were carried out using the 3030-H-APHA (American Public Health Association) modification method in 2012 and Working Instructions (IK) metal 01 of 2014. Based on the analysis, there are 5 (five) species which are recommended to be used as the lead absorber: Pinus (Pinus merkusii), Beringin (Ficus benjamina), Kemuning (Murraya paniculata), Flamboyan (Delonix regia), and Bintaro (Cerbera manghas). The lead concentration found on the leaves of these tree species was 770.8 ppm, 440.6 ppm, 229.0 ppm, 168.1 ppm, and 152.1 ppm for pine, beringin, kemuning, flamboyan, and bintaro, respectively. Planting tree species that has the ability to adsorb high lead is one form of mitigation of heavy metal pollution of lead in the air, especially in the industrial region.

Abstract

Konflik yang terjadi dalam sebuah organisasi dapat menghambat dalam mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan, oleh karena itu konflik perlu dikelola dengan baik agar dampaknya dapat diminimalisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konflik dalam suatu organisasi, faktor-faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan konflik, pendekatan dalam penanganan konflik, dan dampak konflik terhadap kinerja organisasi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur. Peneliti dalam melakukan pencarian referensi, identifikasi keaslian dan kualitas literatur, hingga menyusun daftar referensi dibantu dengan perangkat lunak “citation & reference manager” mendeley desktop. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) konflik dapat dimaknai dengan 3 makna yakni makna positif, netral, dan negatif, (2) faktor-faktor penyebab konflik dapat berasal dari faktor eksternal dan internal individu organisasi. Faktor internal bisa berupa perbedaan kepribadian, stress, penurunan produktivitas dan lain sebaginya. Sedangkan faktor eksternal bisa berupa masalah komunikasi, sumber daya yang terbatas, pelecehan seksual, dan lain sebagainya, (3) pendekatan menangani konflik memerlukan keterampilan kepemimpinan. Pendekatan penanganan konflik ada delapan yakni, musyawarah, campur tangan pihak ketiga, konfrontasi, tawar-menawar (bargaining), kompromi, mediasi, konsiliasi dan konsultasi, dan peningkatan sumber daya, dan (4) kinerja suatu individu dapat terhambat karena adanya konflik, namun tidak semua konflik berdampak negatif, konflik dapat memberi dampak positif jika dapat dikelola secara tepat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis penggunaan gaya bahasa pada antologi puisi “The Drop That Became” The Sea karya Yunus Emre. Gaya bahasa memiliki peran penting dalam karya sastra untuk menciptakan keindahan dan menghindari kebosanan bagi pembaca. Dalam penelitian ini, fokus diberikan pada penggunaan gaya bahasa seperti simile, metafora, ironi, hiperbola, dan personifikasi dalam lima puisi yang terdapat dalam antologi tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dan mencatat kutipan puisi yang mengandung gaya bahasa yang diteliti. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan triangulasi teori untuk meningkatkan validitas data. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa antologi puisi The Drop That Became The Sea karya Yunus Emre mengandung puisi – puisi yang mengagumkan tentang cinta, kehidupan, kesucian, dan rohani. Antologi puisi The Drop That Became The Sea karya Yunus Emre memanfaatkan gaya bahasa dengan baik untuk menciptakan keindahann dan meningkatkan makna puisi – puisinya.

Abstract

Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIAKAD) menjadi hal yang penting di dunia pendidikan sebagai media pengelolaan data akademik dalam mendukung pembelajaran di sekolah. Sehingga kegiatan akademik dapat terkelola menjadi informasi yang bermanfaat dalam pengelolaan manajemen di sekolah, Pada jaman sekarang siswa dan guru banyak melakukan kegiatan belajar mengajar melalui aplikasi google classroom sementara google classroom merupakan alat belajar mengajar siswa dan guru dan juga dapat membantu dalam komunikasi namun google classroom memiliki kelemahan seperti pengambilan nilai akademik yang masih kurang efisien dan memindahkannya masih manual oleh karena pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan integrasi API google classroom yang menggunakan teknologi Java dan Python dengan sistem informasi akademik yang menggunakan teknologi laravel dan juga menguji kemampuan dari API sistem informasi akademik. Pada penelitian sebelumnya pengujian performa API telah dilakukan menggunakan teknologi Node JS dan PHP pada sistem informasi akademik. Hasil dari penelitian ini telah berhasil mengintegrasi API google classroom yang menggunakan teknologi Java dan Python dengan sistem informasi akademik yang menggunakan teknologi Laravel untuk pengambilan data nilai dan melakukan pengujian performa API menggunakan teknologi laravel hasilnya menunjukkan kinerja laravel dengan hasil throughput 63% menunjukkan lebih baik dari teknologi PHP dengan hasil throughput 48,70% tetapi tidak sebaik kinerja teknologi Node JS dengan hasil throughput 100%.

Abstract

Batak Toba community who live in the surrounding forests utilise forest-fruits that grow around their settlement. This research aims to describe the important value of the forest fruits using the Local Users Value Index (LUVI) assessment as most of the fruits have not yet been traded. The research was conducted in Simardangiang and Sitoluama Villages in North Tapanuli Regency, 2015. Data collection was done by interviewing 65 respondents selected purposively based on gender and age classification. The results showed that there were 29 species of forest fruits utilised by the community. They were categorised into four utilisation types: fresh fruit, flavouring fruit, processed fruit, and medicines. In Simardangiang Village, the five most important fruits were kapundung or menteng (Baccaurea racemose) (0.56), hopong (Macaranga lowii) (0.52), sotul, santol or sentul (Sandoricum koetjape) (0.48), harimonting or kemunting (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa) (0.47), and habo or kabau (Archidendron bubalinum) (0.42). Meanwhile, in Sitoluama Village, the five most important fruits were kapundung (Baccaurea racemosa) (0.50), hopong (Macaranga lowii) (0.41), sihim or rotan manau (Calamus manan) (0.32), handis or gamboge (Garcinia xanthochymus) (0.32), and mobe (Artocarpus dadah) (0.19). The numbers in parentheses are the important value based on LUVI. The forest fruits that have domestication potency are kapundung (Baccaurea racemose), hopong (Macaranga Iowii), sihim (Calamus manan), handis (Garcinia xanthochymus), mobe (Artocarpus dadah), harimonting (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), sotul (Sandorium koetjape) and habo (Archidendron bubalinum).
