Abstract

The existence of curriculum changes seeks to continue to advance education in Indonesia in terms of intellectual and character. But the fact that Indonesian education still prioritizes intellectual rather than character, this can be seen from the lack of application in character education itself. Therefore, this study aims to examine more deeply the integration of the independent curriculum currently applied in the world of education with the concept of the Qur'an in shaping human character. The method used in this research is a library research with data sources obtained through various references in the form of journals, books, proceedings, and relevant articles. The results of this study explain that the formation of human character in the world of education is limited to the curriculum system, but the curriculum used must also be in accordance with the concept of the Qur'an in shaping human character.

Abstract

This study explores the essence and dimensions of modern humanity from the perspective of the Quran, focusing on the views of Muhammad Iqbal and Plato. In modern society, there is a prevailing notion that religion and science are irreconcilable entities, complicating the understanding of their relationship. This study aims to analyze the views of Iqbal and Plato on the essence and dimensions of modern humanity. The research method employed is a literature review, utilizing primary data from Iqbal's “The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam” and Plato's “The Republic.” Secondary data include books, journals, essays, and other relevant sources. The findings indicate that Iqbal perceives the essence of humanity in its spiritual entity, complemented by intelligence, belief, and morality, while Plato identifies three essential elements of humanity: spirit, reason (intellect), and desire (appetite).

Abstract

The mosque serves as the center of community activities, functioning not only as a place of worship but also as a hub for social and economic empowerment. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques involve literature studies, where the researcher examines relevant sources to support this research. Jogokariyan Mosque implements various strategies to alleviate poverty and ignorance among its congregation. One such strategy is the regular mapping of dakwah activities to identify the specific needs of the congregation. Additionally, the mosque applies a personal approach to gain a deeper understanding of the congregation’s needs. A key initiative introduced is the Zero Balance program, ensuring that entrusted funds from the congregation are promptly distributed to those in need. Since 2005, Jogokariyan Mosque has also initiated the Independent Congregation Movement. This program encourages congregants to finance their own worship needs after calculating the cost per prayer space. This concept serves as motivation for congregants to take financial responsibility for their worship instead of relying on subsidies from others. Another strategy employed is Scenario Planning, in which the mosque management (Ta’mir) develops strategic plans to advance dakwah efforts. This planning is divided into three phases to ensure sustainable development. Through these strategies, Jogokariyan Mosque has significantly enlightened its congregation, empowering them to break free from poverty and ignorance.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to analyze the influence of religious and cultural literacy on the tendency toward early marriage among students at public high schools in Central Lombok. Theoretical framework: This research refers to the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the concepts of religious literacy as proposed by Stephen Prothero and Diane L. Moore, cultural literacy as formulated by E. D. Hirsch, as well as early marriage as defined by UNICEF and BKKBN. These concepts are positioned as conceptual–theoretical frameworks for analyzing early marriage tendencies. Literature review: Previous studies have shown that early marriage is generally caused by many factors, including misinterpretation of religious teachings, cultural norms that support young marriage, economic pressure, and a lack of social control and reproductive awareness. However, little research has specifically reviewed the influence of religious and cultural literacy in that context. Method: This research uses a quantitative approach with an associative kind, 373 respondents selected using the cluster area sampling technique with a two-stage cluster. The data was analyzed using correlation analysis and simple linear regression. Result: The findings show that religious literacy significantly affects the tendency toward early marriage, with a contribution of 24.2% (Y = 68.729 – 0.460X₁), while cultural literacy contributes 26% (Y = 67.277 – 0.448X₂). The multiple regression equation Y = 71.896 – 0.237X₁ – 0.283X₂ indicates that both religious and cultural literacy together explain 28.9% of the variation in early marriage tendencies. A negative correlation (r = -0.492 and r = 0.510) demonstrates that the higher the religious and cultural literacy, the lower the tendency toward early marriage. These findings emphasize that strengthening literacy in both domains effectively reduces early marriage rates by fostering critical understanding of religious teachings, constructive interpretation of cultural values, and rational decision-making among adolescents. Implications: This finding confirms the importance of integrating religious and cultural values education into the school curriculum and local policies to support the achievement of the SDGs (goals 3, 4, 5, and 8). Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its focus on analyzing the influence of religious and cultural literacy, variables rarely studied in the context of the religious and cultural community of Central Lombok, and its relationship to the SDGs. This makes the results significant not only locally but also globally.
