Abstract

Smoking habit have many negative effect, including increased lipids profile. Researching on the effects of tea on lipids profile on smokers has been carried out using green tea. Research using white tea has been limited, therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of white tea than green tea on lipids profile in smokers, using paired sample of clinical trials design. The subjects were medium smokers (11-21 cigarettes/day) aged 30-45 years and have milddyslipidemia. Each subject was asked to drink tea in two times. Firstly, all subjects were asked to drink 3 x 200 ml white tea/day for 28 days. Secondly, treatment will be start after two weeks washout period, and they were asked to drink 3 x 200 ml of green tea/day for 28 days. Lipids profile (trigliserida (TG); cholesterol total (TC); low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C)) of blood serum has been measured four times, at pre-post intervention of white tea and at pre-post intervention of green tea. The lipids profile were significantly decreased after white tea intervention (paired sample t-test, p<0,05). After green tea intervention,the lipids profile were decreased but significant (paired sample t-test, p<0,05) only for LDL-C. The independent sample t-test analysis showed that white tea has higher effect in decreasing the lipids profile greater than green tea, however not significantly different (p>0,05). This study was proved that white tea is more potential than green tea to decreasing lipids profile of smokers.

Abstract

Smoking can enhance free radicals on blood plasma. Many previous studies proved that tea is a source of antioxidants which might reduce free radicals. Green tea is known to have the higher antioxidant capacity compared to black tea. This study aims to analyze the effect of green tea on reduction of free radicals on moderate smokers, using a pre-post experimental design. Green tea infusions were prepared with commercially available dried tea leaves (Green Tea Gamboeng Series) from the Research Centers of Tea and Cinchona Gambung, West Java. Nine moderate smokers (11-21 cig/day) aged 30-45 years were instructed to drink 200 ml green tea three times a day for four weeks. Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC) of blood serum was measured at baseline and after four weeks intervention period. The level of TAC significantly increased from 1.18 m mol/L to 1.34 m mol/L after four weeks intervention (P=0.000). These results prove that drinking 200 ml of green tea three times a day for four weeks has a significant benefit reducing free radicals of moderate smokers. Moderate smokers are advised to consume green tea continuously to sustain these positive effects.

Abstract

Background : Internet use in Indonesia was increased, especially in the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. WhatsApp is one of the social media that highest used in Indonesia. Information can be spread quickly and widely through WhatsApp. Objective : This research aimed to develop the WhatsApp Bot application namely WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI as Media for dissemination of nutrition and health information.Methods : WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI was designed in three steps. The First step was collecting data information, that highest searching in public regarding health and nutrition using an electronic questionnaire. This data used for information content that was entered into the WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI. The second step was the development of the WhatsApp Bot. The third step was testing. Subjek filled evaluation form through an electronic questionnaire after accessed the WhatsApp Bot to evaluate the assessment and benefits of the WhatsApp Bot using the Likert scale. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively based on the percentage of subjek's assessments.Result : Information related to food for immunity was the highest searching by subjek (37,40%). All features of WhatsApp Bot were working. WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI is useful (93,9%) and effective (91.8%) to find information about health and nutrition, and the overall assessment for WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI is good (89,8%).Conclusion : WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI was developed as Media for the dissemination of nutrition and health information based on technology 4.0. WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI which was developed was working, useful, effective, and good. Pendahuluan : Penggunaan internet di Indonesia meningkat, terlebih dalam situasi pandemi Covid-19 yang saat ini masih berlangsung. WhatsApp menjadi salah satu media sosial yang banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Informasi dapat disebarkan dengan cepat dan jangkauan yang luas melalui WhatsApp. Tujuan : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan aplikasi WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI sebagai media penyebaran kabar, informasi, dan berita seputar kesehatan dan gizi.Metode : Perancangan WhatsApp Bot dilakukan dalam tiga tahap. Tahap pertama dilakukan untuk mengumpulkan data tentang informasi apa saja yang banyak dicari oleh masyarakat terkait kesehatan dan gizi menggunakan kuesioner elektronik. Data tersebut menjadi dasar informasi yang dimasukkan  ke dalam  WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI. Tahap kedua adalah dilakukan pengembangan WhatsApp Bot. Tahap  ketiga adalah uji coba. subjek mengisi formulir evaluasi melalui kuesioner elektronik setelah mengakses WhatsApp Bot untuk evaluasi penilaian dan kemanfaatan WhatsApp Bot dalam bentuk skala likert. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan persentase penilaian subjek.Hasil : Informasi terkait makanan untuk imunitas tubuh paling banyak dicari oleh subjek (37,40%). Semua fitur WhatsApp Bot berfungsi dengan baik. WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI dinilai bermanfaat (93,9%) dan efektif (91,8%) untuk mencari informasi seputar kesehatan dan gizi serta penilaian secara keseluruhan sudah baik (89,8%).Kesimpulan : WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI dikembangkan untuk penyebaran informasi kesehatan dan gizi berbasis teknologi, mendukung perkembangan pada era teknologi 4.0. WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI dapat diakses pada https://bit.ly/KitaSeHatIBot atau melalui nomor WhatsApp 085156531135. WhatsApp Bot Kita SeHatI yang dikembangkan berfungsi dengan baik, dinilai bermanfaat, efektif, dan baik secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Background: Adequate nutrition plays an important roles for children on school age to developed and maintain their growth and health. Many factors could affect the nutritional status of school children, one of them is the school location.Objectives: To analysis the correlation between school location with nutritional status of elementary school students.Method: The research design used was a cross-sectional design. 80 subjects were observed from two different schools namely SDN 1 Cikelet Garut (Urban) and SDN Pesanggrahan 02 Pagi Jakarta Selatan (Rural). The relationship of school location and gender with nutritional status were analyzed using Chi Square. Independent Sample T-test used to analyze nutritional status based on different locations.Result: In rural there are 25% of children with over nutritional status (weight/age). There are still stunted child both in urban (7.50%) and rural (10%), but based on weight/height nutritional status, almost all subjects in both urban (92.50%) and rural (97.50%) in obese category. Chi Square analysis showed that the school location was significantly related (P 0.05) only with the weight/age nutritional status. Gender is significantly related to height/age nutritional status. The majority of boys (15,4%) are shorter than girls (2,4%). The results of the Independent Sample T-test based on location, showed that the nutritional status of subjects in urban was significantly different (P0.05) from the nutritional status of subjects in rural. In line with this, based in gender there is significantly different (P0.05) in nutritional status between boy and girl.Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that differences in school locations are related to the nutritional status of elementary school students.

Abstract

Abstrak: Asupan serat pada lansia sangat penting untuk dipenuhi. Namun faktanya di lapangan asupan serat pada lansia masih rendah. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan edukasi tentang pentingnya konsumsi serat untuk mewujudkan lansia SERASI (Sehat dengan Makan Sayur dan Buah Setiap Hari). Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan pada 37 lansia di Poslansia Subadra, Desa Sinarsari, Kecamatan Dramaga, Bogor. Kegiatan yang dirancang berupa kegiatan pengukuran status gizi dan asam urat, edukasi, demo pembuatan jus SERASI, dan Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT). Materi edukasi mencakup manfaat serat, pangan sumber serat, berbagai olahan sayuran dan buah-buahan yang dapat diterapkan di rumah untuk dikonsumsi dari bahan bahan yang mudah ditemui sehari-hari, serta penyakit akibat kurang konsumsi serat. PMT diberikan berupa biskuit yang aman dan dapat dikonsumsi oleh lansia. Hasil kegiatan ini sebanyak 80% lansia mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan setelah dilakukan edukasi dengan perbedaan nilai pre-test dan post-test yang signifikan (p<0.05). Diharapkan dengan kegiatan yang sudah dilakukan dengan pendekatan HBM terjadi perbaikan asupan serat pada lansia.Abstract: Consumption of fiber is important for the elderly. However, the elderly continue to consume a little amount of fiber. As a consequence, education about the need for a fiber-rich diet is necessary to attain elderly’s SERASI (healthy by eating vegetables and fruits every day). 37 elderly citizens benefitted from this community service initiative in Poslansia Subadra, Sinarsari Village, Dramaga District, Bogor. The activities designed are in the form of measuring nutritional status and uric acid, education, demonstration of making SERASI juice, and Supplementary Food Provision (PMT). The educational materials included information about the health benefits of fiber, diseases linked with a lack of fiber intake, fiber-rich meals, and various processed vegetables and fruits made at home using easily available ingredients. The PMT was given to the elderly in the form of safe-to-eat cookies. The results of this exercise showed that 80% of elderly participants acquired knowledge after teaching, with a significant change in pre-and post-test scores (p<0.05). The HBM approach was expected to result in an increase in fiber intake among the elderly.

Abstract

Remaja merupakan salah satu kelompok yang diharapkan dapat menjaga kesehatan dan imunitas tubuh, sehingga pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya tidak terganggu. Konsumsi pangan sumber antioksidan pada remaja sangat dianjurkan di masa pandemi ini, seperti buah, sayur, kacang-kacangan, biji-bijian, dan rempah, tetapi konsumsi buah dan sayur pada remaja masih tergolong rendah. Edukasi gizi melalui WhatsApp Bot diharapkan dapat meningkatkan informasi dan pengetahuan terkait konsumsi pangan sumber antioksidan pada remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan pengetahuan gizi dan antioksidan pada remaja melalui edukasi gizi berbasis teknologi dan menganalisis hubungan kepatuhan responden dalam mengakses WhatsApp Bot dengan peningkatan pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental one-group pretest-posttest design. Responden berjumlah 29 orang murid SMA Muhammadiyah 25 Jakarta. Data diambil menggunakan form kuesioner online, meliputi pengetahuan terkait gizi dan antioksidan, karakteristik responden (jenis kelamin dan uang saku bulanan), dan data antropometri responden (berat badan dan tinggi badan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan rata-rata antara hasil pre-test (71,4) dan post-test responden (86,5) (p<0,05) dengan kenaikan pengetahuan sebesar 17,4%. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kepatuhan responden dalam mengakses WhatsApp Bot dengan peningkatan nilai post-test responden (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini, edukasi menggunakan WhatsApp Bot telah signifikan meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi dan antioksidan siswa SMA Muhammadyah 25 Jakarta.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic that is happening in Indonesia and throughout the world has caused changes in people’s eating habits. Food and beverages which can increase immunity become the main focus for the community during this pandemic. This study aimed to analyze the drinking habits on the immunity of SMA Muhammadiyah 25 Pamulang students. This study used a cross-sectional design. There were 78 subjects at the age of 16-17 years old who are 12th grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 25 Pamulang. Drinking habits were collected into 11 beverages types and divided into three categories (1: tea, coffee, and boba drinks; 2: fresh milk, powdered milk, sweetened condensed milk, ice cream containing milk, and yogurt; 3: date juice, honey, and traditional herbal medicine). Data were analyzed descriptively by applying the univariate test method. The results show that 66,67% of subjects consumed boba drinks more often. 32,05% of subjects always consumed coffee, and the last 39,74% of subjects rarely consumed tea. Furthermore, there are 62,82% of subjects more often consume ice cream, 25,64% of subjects constantly consume powdered milk, and 47,44% of subjects rarely consume fresh milk. Hereafter, there are 64,10% of subjects who always consume date juice. subjects often consume honey (47,44%) as well as traditional herbal medicine (46,15%). Subjects drink various beverages such as tea, milk, and their processed products, date juice, honey, and traditional herbal medicine to increase their immunity due to nutrient and antioxidant contents, to protect themselves from virus infection, including Covid-19.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pandemi Covid-19 membuat masyarakat harus selalu meningkatkan imunitas tubuhnya agar tetap sehat dan terhindar dari virus ini. Imunitas tubuh tergantung pada kecukupan baik kuantitas maupun kualitas gizi. Beberapa zat gizi yang berperan dalam memperkuat sistem imun antara lain antioksidan, protein, vitamin, mineral. Zat tersebut banyak terdapat dalam rempah-rempah dan sayuran yang dapat dibuat menjadi jamu dan olahannya. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan sasaran mengenai antioksidan dan jamu serta olahannya yang selanjutnya diharapkan akan dapat meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Metode pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan cara edukasi dan pelatihan yang dilakukan kepada 23 siswa dan siswi di SMA Islam Harapan Ibu, Pondok Pinang, Jakarta Selatan. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan memberikan pretest dan posttest kepada sasaran. Hasil dari evaluasi yaitu terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 25%.Abstract: COVID-19 pandemic has made the society to always maintain their immune system in order to stay healthy and not being infected by the disease. The body immune system depends on the quality and quantity of the nutrition it consumes. Some nutrition substances that will improve the immune system are antioxidants, protein, vitamins, minerals. Those substances are abundantly available in spices and vegetables that can be processed into Jamu. This community service is aimed to increase the awareness regarding antioxidants and herbs and at the same time to increase the immune system. The method that is implemented for this Community Service is through providing education and training for the 23 students in Harapan Ibu Islamic Senior High School, Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta. An evaluation was then conducted by providing the students a pretest and post test. Results of the evaluation shows an increase of knowledge by 25%.

Abstract

Abstrak: Asupan zat gizi mikro pada ibu hamil sangat penting untuk dipenuhi, karena perannya sangat diperlukan untuk menunjang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan janin, serta untuk mencegah stunting pada anak. Namun masih terdapat masalah kekurangan zat gizi mikro dan asupan zat gizi mikro yang rendah. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan edukasi tentang pentingnya asupan zat gizi mikro bagi ibu hamil sebagai upaya pencegahan stunting . Melalui kegiatan edukasi tersebut diharapkan pengetahuan ibu hamil tersebut meningkat, sehingga pada akhirnya dapat mencegah anemia dan berdampak positif pada kesehatan ibu dan bayi. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan pada 13 ibu hamil di Posyandu Subrada, Desa Sinarsari, Kecamatan Dramaga, Kabupaten Bogor. Kegiatan yang dirancang berupa kegiatan edukasi dengan media poster. Materi edukasi yang diberikan mencakup manfaat zat gizi mikro, rekomendasi asupan zat gizi mikro, sumber zat gizi mikro, dan defisiensi zat gizi mikro. Ibu hamil mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan setelah dilakukan edukasi dengan peningkatan nilai rata-rata nilai pre dan post-test dari 65,38 menjadi 71,15. Diharapkan dengan kegiatan yang sudah dilakukan dapat terjadi perbaikan asupan zat gizi mikro pada ibu hamil. Abstract: Intake of micronutrients in pregnant women is very important to fulfill because it is very necessary to support the growth and development of the fetus, as well as to prevent stunting in children. However, there are still problems of micronutrient deficiency and low intake of micronutrients. Therefore education is needed about the importance of the intake of micronutrients for pregnant women to prevent stunting. Through these educational activities, it is hoped that the knowledge of pregnant women will increase so that in the end they can prevent anemia and have a positive impact on the health of mothers and babies. This Community Service activity was carried out for 13 pregnant women at Posyandu Subrada, Sinarsari Village, Dramaga District, Bogor. Activities designed in the form of educational activities with media posters. The educational materials provided cover the benefits of micronutrients, recommendations for micronutrient intake, sources of micronutrients, and deficiencies of micronutrients. Pregnant women experienced an increase in knowledge after being educated with an increase in the average pre and post-test scores from 65.38 to 71.15. It is hoped that the activities that have been carried out can improve the intake of micronutrients in pregnant women.
