Abstract

The Silent Killer remains a sizable global health problem. The act of forgiveness can have big health outcomes and one of them is reducing blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to describe the attitude of forgiveness in adults with essential hypertension in Kakaskasen 1 Tomohon. The method used is descriptive correlative analytic observational method with a cross sectional approach. Analysis of the data using the Spearmans correlation test and data collection using the Heartland Forgiveness Scale questionnaire for forgiveness and for blood pressure using an aneroid blood pressure device. The results of the univariate analysis showed that from 55 respondents, 11 (20%) people had normal blood pressure, 23 (41.8%) had pre-hypertension, 21 (38.2%) had hypertension, while from the attitude of forgiveness, it showed that most respondents had an attitude of perhaps forgiving and no one does not forgive. Spearman's test showed that there was no statistically significant correlation between forgiveness as a whole and its subscale (forgiving oneself, others and situations) with systolic and diastolic blood pressure. For people with hypertension, it is possible to increase forgiveness to a forgiving attitude. It is necessary for health service providers to remind this in health education to improve and even prevent hypertension. Recommendations for further researchers can develop this research into experimental with forgiveness therapy in patients with hypertension, or by adding variables that affect the psychology and physiology of forgiveness such as economic conditions, work, family, differences in beliefs, culture, life experiences in interacting with other people and various another factor.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of parents perceptions of the impact of social media use on adolescents with a total sample of 35 from purposive sampling techniques and analytical descriptive research methods. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire of parents perceptions of social media. The results of the study stated that the majority of participants had internet access, but not all were registered on social media networks. It was also found that all participating children were registered on one of the social media networks and the majority of parents supported the child being registered on one of the social media. The majority of participants said they could stop their children from using social media, and all participants were aware of threats on social media. Realizing this, the majority of parents discussed social media threats with their children and the most preferred security measure by the majority of participants was with parental monitoring measures. According to participants, the most responsible for protecting children are parents, but the rest also argue that teachers, schools, internet service providers and mass media have a responsibility. Parents are expected to always monitor children in the use of social media because from the results it is found that parents actually have authority in regulating childrens social media use.
