Abstract

Turbidity is one of the remote sensing indicators on the  reservoir physical characteristics that can reduce its brightness level. Measuring reservoir physical characteristics traditionally are expensive and time consuming as well. Therefore, remote sensing is used as an alternative for turbidity measurement because it can provide data and products spatially, temporally as well as synoptically with low cost. This study aims to obtain an algorithm using a combination of in-situ turbidity data measurement and Sentinel-2A satellite imagery data. The resulting algorithm can be used to predict and map turbidity in Jatiluhur Reservoir. Based on the multiregression between B3 (green band) and B4 (red band) with in-situ turbidity data measurement, it is obtainted that the regression coefficients are a = 76.77, b = 63.22 and c = -34.31 respectively, with the equation of Y = 76, 77+63.22 X1-34.31X2 (Y=predicted turbidity, X1=lnB3, X2=lnB4). The correlation value between in situ and turbidity prediction is quite strong with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.60, and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 1.95 NTU. Based on Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) analysis, the deviation is 31.1%. High levels of turbidity can reduce the main productivity of water and its organisms, especially in respiratory and visual problems. Sedimentation caused by high turbidity levels can make siltation which results in reservoir capacity loss. Keywords: Turbidity, remote sensing, Sentinel-2A satellite imagery data, Jatiluhur Reservoir, siltation

Abstract

Waduk Ir.

Abstract

The Nusantara Fishing Port (PPN) Kejawanan is located in the Lemahwungkuk District of Cirebon City. Cast nets are a widely used fishing gear for catching squid. This study aims to describe how cast nets are operated and to analyze variations in squid catch productivity per trip and per gross tonnage (GT) of the vessel. The method used was a survey method through direct observation and interviews to obtain technical data on fishing operations and catch results. Observations were made on seven (7) cast net vessels per month (n = 7 vessels/month) during the period January–March 2024. The results of the study show that during January–March 2024, the highest productivity value occurred in January at 7,349 kg/trip and the lowest value was 6,224 kg/trip in February. Meanwhile, the highest productivity per GT of vessel catch was in January at 183.73 kg/GT of vessel, and the lowest was in February at 121.02 kg/GT. This variation in productivity between months occurred in the context of the season and was related to a combination of technical operational factors and fishing environmental conditions.

Abstract

Cirata Reservoir has indicated the presence of exotic fishes, but there has been no risk assessment. This study aimed to identify the risk of alien fishes in the Cirata Reservoir. The research was conducted from December 2021 to February 2022 at six stations in the Cirata Reservoir, West Java, with a field survey method. Data was analyzed by relative importance index and risk assessment based on the Guidelines for Risk Analysis of Invasive Alien Species. The results showed there are 17 alien fish species (65.38%) from 26 fish species caught during the study. The Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) had the highest abundance (34.70%) followed by the Midas cichlid (Amphilophus citrinellus) at 11.86%. The risk of the alien fishes in the Cirata Reservoir comprised 29.4% of the high risk and 70.6% of the moderate risk. The high risk of alien fishes was the Midas cichlid. Alien fish introduction for certain purpose was allowed after having a risk assessment. The invasive, dangerous and/or harmful alien fishes that need to be controlled and eradicated in the Cirata Reservoir were: Amphilophus citrinellus, Cichlasoma trimaculatum, Hemichromis elongatus, Mayaheros urophthalmus, and Parachromis managuensis.
