Abstract

The development of English teaching materials related to sustainable tourism in vocational high schools still faces various challenges, despite the significant growth of the tourism industry in Indonesia. This Community Service Program aims to enhance the teaching abilities of English teachers at vocational high schools in Malang by helping them develop teaching materials that incorporate various aspects of sustainable tourism through an intensive educational and mentoring approach. A total of 20 teachers participated in this workshop and training program. During implementation, they received training to develop online learning materials that simultaneously enhance reading, listening, and writing skills while also providing practice in tour guiding. Additionally, they were trained in utilizing technology to present interactive teaching materials aligned with advancements in the modern tourism industry. As a result, the teachers' ability to develop digital-based learning materials improved significantly, enabling them to guide students more effectively. In line with the teachers' enhanced ability to design innovative and sustainable learning materials, this initiative aims to raise educational standards at the vocational high school level and support students in adapting to advancements in the tourism industry.

Abstract

This study believes that it needs an effort that encourages students to carry out learning activities to achieve predetermined goals and motivation to determine students' success in the teaching-learning process. The objective of this study is to know the students’ motivation in learning after using e-learning materials using the Telegram app, i.e., telegram bot. This descriptive quantitative research used a closed questionnaire with 11 modified questions, and it was delivered to 46 respondents. Based on analysis of students' learning motivation before using the telegram bot it was highlighted into a good category 80.56%]. This study also manage to reveal three aspects that construct this presents study, namely interests, concerns, and needs. The analysis manage to record that the interesting aspect received 78.19%, the concern aspect received 82.18%, and the need aspect received 81.56%. Thus, and the average score of students' learning motivation was 80.56%. After using the telegram bot, the details of the recapitulation of the motivation questionnaire are as follows, aspects of interest get 84.17%, aspects of attention get 87.23%, aspects of needs get 86.70%, and the average score of student learning motivation is 85.98%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of telegram bot as e-learning materials can increase student motivation.

Abstract

English become the most important things in facing the issue of Asean Economic Community (AEC) especially in the health sector since English is one of the international language use in asean. So, preparing medical employees with English become a great issue to be solved. This study was intended to apply picture Series as the media to improve students writing skill. The research design used was collaborative Classroom Action Research. The collaboration was done with three English teachers in STIKes Patria Husada Blitar. This Classroom Action Research was implemented in one cycle only which involved four stages namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The researcher gained the data in the form of students’ involvement during teaching learning activity and the writing product. To get those data, the researcher used several instruments; those were students writing product and field notes. The finding of this study showed that by using picture series as the media, the students could write procedure text much better than they were taught using traditional grammar translation method. In terms of the students’ individual writing product, in preliminary study, the number of students who passed the minimum passing grade (64) was only 2 students (9.1%). On the other hand, in Cycle 1, all of the 22 students (100%) could pass the minimum passing grade (64). The improvement of students’ writing skill was due to the use of picture series as the media in teaching writing which consisted of several activities for the students so that they were enthusiastic in joining the class. In addition, it was suggested for the lecturers and/ or teacher to apply and modify this technique in their classes.

Abstract

The function of the grounding system is to limit the voltage between equipment and the ground and neutralize the voltage that arises at the ground surface due to fault currents flowing in the ground. An unsafe grounding system can disrupt system reliability and human safety in the substation area. This research aims to simulate the design of a substation grounding system with the influence of variations in location and number of electrodes installed in grids and rods in swampy soil conditions with different soil resistivity values. The impact of these parameters is on the resistance value, touch voltage, and step voltage at a weight of 70 kg by using the CYMGRD application as a medium to see the effectiveness and optimization of whether the substation grounding system with variations in the outside area and variations in the number of electrode rods meets the requirements without exceeding safe limits on systems or humans. This grounding system design is designed for two cases, namely case 1: the maximum touch voltage and maximum step voltage values exceed the permitted touch voltage and maximum step voltage, so conditions like this are included in the criteria for being unsafe and can endanger personnel in the field. Case 2: the touch voltage and step voltage values are smaller than the permitted touch voltage and step voltage values, so this design is included in safe conditions and meets the criteria for a good and safe grounding system.
