Abstract

This study examines the persistence of woodcarvers in Mulyoharjo, Jepara, in sustaining their profession amid pressures from modernization, minimalist market trends, and declining youth interest. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with woodcarvers, participant observations, and document analysis. Guided by Colemans rational choice theory, the findings reveal that persistence stems from a calculated response to social, economic, and cultural conditions. Cultural norms, such as pride in Jeparas carving heritage, alongside adaptive strategies like social networks and work autonomy, drive their decisions. Despite unstable markets and limited institutional support, woodcarvers rely on traditional skills and community ties to navigate challenges. The study concludes that their persistence reflects bounded rationality, shaped by cultural values and structural constraints. Sustaining the woodcarving profession requires context-sensitive support that prioritizes artisans perspectives and real-world needs

Abstract

Mahasiswa dipengaruhi oleh tindakan sosial instrumental ketika memperoleh barang atau alat untuk memenuhi kebutuhannya. Mereka juga dipengaruhi oleh tindakan sosial rasional ketika membeli atau mengonsumsi sandang untuk beradaptasi dengan lingkungannya, berdasarkan nilai-nilai yang dianut masyarakat, dengan harapan memperoleh penerimaan. Mahasiswa terlibat dalam konsumerisme karena gejolak emosi yang dialaminya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan analisis rasional mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan fitur ShopeePaylater terhadap perilaku konsumtif dan juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku konsumtif mahasiswa. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi, data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari wawancara, studi pustaka, dan dokumentasi. Sumber data diperoleh melalui berbagai metode seperti wawancara, pengambilan gambar, studi pustaka, pencatatan dan dokumentasi, sedangkan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dokumen dalam studi pustaka serta hasil transkrip wawancara dengan beberapa mahasiswa FKIP UNS. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif, dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat dampak positif dan negatif dalam penggunaan fitur ShopeePaylater terhadap perilaku konsumtif pada rasionalitas mahasiswa khususnya mahasiswa FKIP UNS, serta rasionalitas pada perilaku konsumtif mahasiswa dalam penggunaan fitur ShopeePaylater.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of background factors of UNS female students and identify strategies implemented by Tanwirul Fikr Student Boarding School in shaping their disciplinary behavior. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The data used in this study were collected through observation and interview techniques, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the disciplinary strategies implemented by Tanwirul Fikr Student Boarding School, which include education, regulations, special programs, guidance, and evaluation, are effective in shaping and improving the disciplinary behavior of UNS female students gradually, even though they have diverse backgrounds, such as attitude (personality), family, education, and social backgrounds. The variations in these strategies were then analyzed using the perspective of Emile Durkheim's social fact theory. Based on the theoretical analysis, Tanwirul Fikr Student Boarding School implements various strategies by regulating and implementing rules that must be obeyed and avoided during the study period. This includes values, norms, and regulations that are binding and influence individual UNS students.

Abstract

Batik is an intangible oral cultural heritage of Indonesia whose existence needs to be preserved. The preservation of batik in relation to the survival of generations capable of becoming batik makers is an important urgency. Given the sustainability of cultural identity will be maintained through inheritance from generation to generation. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the strategy of maintaining the young generation of batik makers in Surakarta City with a focus on the utilization of social capital in Laweyan Batik Village. This research was conducted in Laweyan Batik Village which is the largest and oldest batik production center in Surakarta City. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. The researcher used Robert Putnam's social capital theory with its 3 main elements, namely networks, norms, and trust. The results showed that social capital in Kampung Batik Laweyan plays a crucial role in supporting batik regeneration. The network of Kampung Batik Laweyan formed through FPKBL enables cooperation. Norms that include work systems and flexibility of rules with the principle of kinship frame behavior. The close network and norms foster trust, enabling effective coordination in the regeneration process.
