Abstract

This research objective is to explain the increment of Saudi Arabia’s FDI inflows in 2017-2019 amidst the involvement in human rights abuse. As it is known, Saudi Arabia has bad reputations on human rights. Saudi involvement on human rights abuse in 2017-2018 has provoked the international community and threaten the reputation of Saudi on foreign investment. But these do not make the Saudi’s FDI inflows showed a significant decrease. This research uses explanative qualitative as the research method. The framework of this research is using Foreign Policy and Human rights and also The Bottleneck Effect and The Social Risk on FDI. The research showed an answer that Saudi’s involvement in human rights abuse does not affect the FDI inflows because Saudi has been working on planning to attract the foreign investment with their foreign policy and KSA Vision 2030. Abstract

This research aims to describe how The 2015 Anti-Terrorism Law can poses a threat to the human security of the Tunisian people by using qualitative methods. Researcher uses the concept of Human Security and Responsibility to Protect to examine the threats given during the implementation of the policy. This research then perceive that there are problematic articles within the law that have an impact on the emergence of violations of human rights in Tunisia which becoming a threat to their life, it’s then also becomes the reason for the international community to give their response to these issues through their Responsibility to Protect. Abstract

The US invasion of Afghanistan was motivated by the unwillingness of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to hand over Al-Qaeda, which was the perpetrator of the 9/11 attacks, to the US. After 18 years of invasion, the US carried out a reorientation of foreign policy in Afghanistan in the form of a Peace Agreement with the Taliban. This study then attempts to analyze the reasons for the formation of the US peace agreement with the Taliban using the rational actor model and the supporting concept of retrenchment strategy. This study was analyzed using an explanatory-qualitative methodology sourced from secondary data. The result of this study is that the US entered into a peace agreement to stop massive losses due to the invasion in the form of material and troop crises. This can be achieved at the expense of US interests in Afghanistan. Keywords: United States of America, Taliban, Peace Agreement, Rationality

Abstract

This research aims to explain the reasons of European Union implementing an anti-dumping policy on imports of Chinese solar panels in 2013. This study uses a qualitative explanative method with concept protectionism. The European Union is one of the regions that depends on imports of fossil fuels. Therefore, the European Union pays great attention to renewable energy sectors especially solar panels. The European Union, which initially took the lead in the production of solar panels, is starting to be pushed back by the presence of its competitor, China. In response to fierce competition in the solar panel sector, the European Union implemented a protectionist policy in the form of anti-dumping by targeting the selling price of Chinese products which was far below the minimum price. Abstract

This study aims to describe South Korea's efforts to improve economic relations with Tiongkok after the economic sanctions imposed by Tiongkok on South Korea due to South Korea's decision to install a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) in South Korea. This research uses qualitative methods with literature study and secondary data. This study uses the concepts of foreign policy and diplomacy to see South Korea's diplomatic efforts to improve economic relations with Tiongkok. The results of this study indicate that South Korea's diplomatic efforts to improve economic relations with Tiongkok are based on South Korea's economic interests towards Tiongkok, which is South Korea's largest trading partner which controls a quarter of South Korea's total export volume. The conclusion of this research is that South Korea's diplomatic efforts to improve relations with Tiongkok were carried out by communicating and negotiating in various meetings with Tiongkok. Abstract

South Korea is a nation who have been using popular culture as soft power. By taking advantage of the popularity of popular culture, South Koreans fulfill their national interests. This study analyzes the phenomenon of global popularity of Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) and its impact on the improvement of the South Korean economy. BTS' global popularity is used as an extension of the government in the international world. Through BTS, the South Korean government affect the perceptions and preferences of the international community. Starting from public interest in BTS as a product of South Korean popular culture, then develop into interest of South Korean products and ultimately enhance the positive image of the country. Abstract

This study aims to describe the reasons for Turkey providing diplomatic and military support to Azerbaijan during the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in 2020 using descriptive qualitative methods. Turkey's active involvement in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict through diplomatic and military support to Azerbaijan is not only controversial but has triggered protests from the international community. Turkey is the only country that has been found to provide open military support. Turkey's military support makes national leadership often neglect regional security and stability in the conflicted regions. However, Turkey as a country needs energy supplies from Azerbaijan. This research then finds that Turkey has a national interest to protect and secure the international pipeline infrastructure that carries oil and natural gas from Azerbaijan to its own territory. Energy security is also further related to Turkey's ambition to become an energy transit center between regions within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor. Abstract

This study aims to explain what is the interests of the United States (US) has in Indonesia regarding the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 86 of 2013 concerning Recommendations for the Import of Horticultural Products (RIPH), and Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 16 in 2013. By sued the regulation to the World Trade Organization (WTO). This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The US has its own interests in sued Indonesian regulations. It can be seen from the post US victory in the WTO, which continues to demand Indonesia to impose a fine of $350 million. US agricultural exports in 2016, have increased and remained stable. This study uses a conceptual framework of national interest. This study finds the answer that the interests of US in Indonesia regarding Indonesia regulations of RIPH, animals and animal products are economic interests, ideological interests and world order interests. Abstract

This study aims to explain the reasons for Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) in making the Saudi Vision 2030 policy, which was analyzed based on the idiosyncratic aspect. So far, Saudi Arabia has depended its main economic source on oil. With the decline in world oil prices in 2015, MBS believes that by turning the main source of Saudi Arabia's economy into tourism through the Saudi Vision 2030 policy, it will make Saudi Arabia's economy stable in the future. The research was conducted in an explanatory qualitative manner, with the Idiosyncratic Model framework in foreign policy analysis. This study found that MBS's background as the eldest son of the royal family gave him a great opportunity to become a leader. His ambition towards Saudi Vision 2030 made him fall into the category of leaders who have a style and type of leadership that is Goal Oriented and Strategic Charismatic. Abstract

From the beginning of its emergence, the Benoa Bay reclamation project that received fully support from Bali Provincial Government had been rejected by Balinese people in general. The project worked by PT Tirta Wahana Bali International is considered as a form of global capitalist hegemony. Thousand of demonstrators protested against the reclamation project because it is not only threatening the ecology sustainability but also the local culture. “Reject Reclamation” movement, organized by the Balinese People’s Forum to Reject Reclamation(ForBALI), as opposition to global capitalist control. It has been thirty nine customary villages in Bali protested in various ways against the controversial project. This article discusses the struggle of Balinese peopleto reject Benoa Bay’s reclamation plan through the revitalization of Balinese cultural identity to face the global capitalist hegemony.
