Abstract

United States as the victim of 9/11 tragedy launch the Global War on Terror to combat global terrorism and to secure its national security. Sahel as a region passed by the Sahara Dessert is becoming a place to hide, recruit, financing and training camp for global terrorist network. The rise of terrorist network in the Sahel cannot be separated from Sahel States condition which been categorized as least developed countries. To counter the rise of terrorist threat in the Sahel Region. United States deploy its military forces in Niger. This research analyzes and describe the objective of United States military deployment in Niger, especially from 2013 until 2017. This research used security and counterterrorism framework to explain the objective of United States military deployment in Niger. Methodology that used in this research is qualitative-descriptive. Data in this research were gathers from multiple sources such as book, journal, and government reports that related with this research. Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper seeks to explain the reason behind China’s decision to ban plastic waste import in 2018. China’s import on plastic waste were increasing significantly since 200 Within ten year since 2006, China imported half of world’s plastic waste. China’s recycling industry turned plastic waste into synthetic fiber called polyester. However, since 2018 China decided to ban plastic waste import. This research is analyzed using qualitative research methodology with secondary data collection focusing on state level analysis. This paper refers to two conceptual frameworks, which are rational choice actor and environmental security. The findings on this research leads to a conclusion that explains China’s decision is based on its profit calculation from textile industry and plastic waste recycling. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe Australia's national interests in searching for Malaysia Airlines MH370 in the South Indian Ocean. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared on 8 March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. All the available data indicates the aircraft crashed in the Southern Indian Ocean.The Australian Government agreed to take the responsibility of leading and coordinating the search efforts in the Southern Indian Ocean.This research used qualitative descriptive methods to analyze the issues.This issue discussed by answering the question about Australia’s national interest in the search of Malaysia Airlines MH370 in the Southern Indian Ocean. This research used collected data from various sources including,literary sources, news and reports. Data were analyzed with the concept of national interest in international relations.The result of the analysis showed Australia's interest in gaining trust, legitimacy and improving its status and proximity to the Asian region. Abstract

ABSTRACT Russia and Ukraine are two countries with acomplex link. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia has been maintaining its stance and status as a great power within the region by exerting a considerable influence on bordering countries such as Ukraine. Several aspects used to maintain said influence are identity, economy, and military power. The same aspects are also the root of many conflicts between the two countries until it escalated in 2014 with Russia’s annexation of Crimea. This research describes the decision-making process of the Russian government using Graham T. Allison’s model of ‘organizational process’. Identified as its organizational actors, Russia shows a pattern of decision-making process when faced with states around its borders. Russia doesn’t hesitate to use all manners of organizational actors under its control to maintain its interests and influence not only above Ukraine, but also as a great power on a global scale. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe what is the reason for Hungary has built a border barrier in the border region using descriptive qualitative methods. Hungary, which is a member state of the European Union, facing a contemporary security threat, which is the flow of immigrants. To cope with this issues, Hungary issued a physical development policy in the form of a border barrier. Although it did not get funding from the European Union in the process of building the border barrier, Hungary continued to carry out the construction process.Therefore, researchers use the framework of immigrant as a contemporary security threat and border barrier as a foreign policy to answer what is the reason for the construction of the border fences in the border region. Abstract

ABSTRACT The writing of this thesis aims to describe the problem between two countries namely Norway and Russia regarding maritime delimitation conflicts that occur in the Barents sea. The background of this essay writing arises because of the potential contained in the Barents sea, which triggers the existence of different struggles and claims for the region. In addition, the natural wealth contained in the Barents sea is one of the most important places in the world. Natural resources in the region create profits to improve the economy for Russia and Norway, of course. With the conflict between Russia and Norway hampering economic activities to be carried out in the region. The two countries adhere to different principles to the delineation of maritime boundaries which make the journey to resolve this conflict last long. However, the conflict that lasted for 40 years was finally resolved by the two countries through the negotiation process. The following negotiation process will be explained in this paper. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe Australia's national interest in enforcement of import ban of New Zealand apple products. This was triggered by the spread of fire blight pests in Auckland, New Zealand in 1919. The negotiation process between the Australian Government and New Zealand was carried out from 1986 to 2008. The Australian Government imposed the import ban based on the Australian Quarantine Policies 1908 specifically referring to scientific research reports in Final Import Risk Analysis. This research used qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected from various resources including library sources, news and reports. Data were analyzed with the concept of National Interest and Protectionism in International Trade. This research shows a ban on imports of New Zealand apple products is to establish economic interest, especially in an effort to protect the domestic market. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research describes China’s interest related to BRI initiative and its implementation in Malaysia. BRI has developed lanes which comprise into land and maritime lane. Southeast Asia is included in maritime pathway which has an important geographical, historical and strategic position towards China’s national interest in seeking partnership with one of the countries in the region, namely Malaysia. However, the international situation surrounding Malaysia has also give an impression that Chinese policies utilize BRI’s initiative to benefit its own interest rather than Malaysia interests including the South China Sea issue. Not to mention the Malacca Strait has created a dilemma towards China so that BRI is seen as a solution to overcome it. This research utilizes qualitative methods with secondary sources which then analyzed using the concept of National Interest and China’s Grand Strategy, the data were collected from books, journals, websites, etc. Keywords:Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), National Interest, Grand Strategy

Abstract

ABSTRACT The 'Focus Africa' program launched after India's economic liberalization in 1991 had a significant impact on India's economic growth. The aim is to find new markets and natural resources for Indian private and public businesses. Sudan became one of the countries chosen because it has abundant natural resources, especially petroleum. Besides that Sudan is one of the countries with the most population in Africa. This research uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through literature study. Data will be analyzed by descriptive analysis method using commercial diplomacy concept. Based on the analysis, concluded that India's efforts to encourage foreign direct investment and trade in Sudan through commercial diplomacy can be maximized through; Trade Promotion, Promotion of Foreign Direct Investment, Co-operation in Science and Technology, Advocacy for National Business Community, Networking & Public Relations and Contract Negotiator of Implementation. Abstract

This qualitative research aims to describe the Chinese Government’s effort to resolve opium trafficking through the Opium Substitution Program in North Myanmar from 2005 to 2010. The author perceives the problem of opium trafficking on the border of China and Myanmar has influenced the Chinese Government to make an effort through the implementation of alternative development models which is applied to the opium substitution program. The opium substitution program is implemented through bilateral cooperation in Shan and Kachin areas of Northern Myanmar. The author finds that the opium substitution program is a sustainable long-term program with the aim of building local people's economy in the territory of North Myanmar that is adjusted to the social, cultural, and economic characteristics of local communities. Opium substitution program has been implemented by the Chinese Government through the provision of training and agricultural assistance for former opium farmers, as well as the implementation of agricultural investment schemes in North Myanmar.
